Awesome budget Spectraflame paints. I really liked the Demon in particular being a Mopar guy. I think they call that color Windex Blue (?). Thanks for the 411 about buying air brushes at Harbor Freight also. I'm trying to get up the nerve to do a 71' Satellite Wagon from the Pop Culture line. My idea is to paint it an original factory color, maybe Hemi Orange. Thanks for sharing your videos and I'm looking forward to the Paint It Pink Challenge!
Super cool video, I didn't think you would have this one out so quick! Brilliant idea to use the inks for tinting the clear, the end result truly looks the same as legit spectrflame or candy (it's probably the same or similar ingredients anyway).
Spot on mate, i did wonder when the video would come out and i knew it would be worth waiting for 👍👍 I tried the same with the FM artist acrylic inks the day after our chat and it was a pretty good result . funky
Great video, thanks for the information. One question before shooting the clear do you wipe the car down with anything that eliminates the possibility of fisheye from the mothers polish?
Awesome video and great tips! I know a couple of other RU-vidrs that use this same method when using the spectraflame paints from the redline shop. They all say you get better results mixing it in clear but does take more coats.
Yes and I actually mix the createx water-based candy 2.0 in the 2k urethane clear as well with good results as well. I used this method on my next video that’s a redline heavy Chevy and I’ll compare it to an Original redline and createx 2.0 candy so you can see the differences..
Matchbox Resurrection no problem! I was wanting to get a hold of you about doing the”paint it pink challenge” we’ve got a ton of great channels involved! Would love to see your twist on it! If you’re interested email me at Diecast_outkast@yahoo.com
@@diecastoutkast6839 I'll have a look tomorrow. I've seen a lot of channels involved but I'm really struggling for time. I'll see if it's possible and I let you know. Thanks for the invite mate, I'll do my best
Great Idea. I'm planning to make spectraflame paint as soon as I get my order from China. I ordered ink capsules for fountain pen in various colors. They should be water based, so I'm glad to hear that water based ink is dissolving in 2K clear coat. I have acrylic clear coat with activator and I'm using few drops of acrilic thinner so it better flows. I tried to mix some color gel pen ink with acrylic thinner but it won't mix. That gel floats like bubbles in lava lamp. I still dont know will acrylic 2K clear coat mix with water based ink different than urethane clear coat.
Thank you very much for sharing this. Cost has been the main reason I don't do spectrafame paint jobs. I do this as a hobby and since being a disabled vet is my only job/income, I have to be pretty picky on what I spend. This is an awesome tip. And, great job on those cars. Looking forward to future episodes.
@@diecastoutkast6839 Is there other clear coats you can use or is the one you suggested the best quality and value? I've often thought of going to an auto body shop and asking for left overs, but figure they save everything. Also, I've used fingernail polish as a paint. You have to really thin it down with acetone (or some thinner) because it's made to dry super fast. So you have to shoot it right away and thoroughly clean the airbrush immediately* otherwise it will dry and seal it shut. It's another cheap option, And, honestly, have you seen the selection of "paints" on the finger polish isle? Those ladies have more of a selection that the paint isle at Lowe's. LoL! Also, you cannot shoot anything that has glitter in it for obvious reasons but there are plenty of pearlescent colours available. Not to mention that plenty of dollar stores sell nail polish also. *For cleaning I just pour acetone in the paint cup and spray till it's clear. I don't tear the airbrush down like a 1911 in the field.
Diecasts & Dioramas I’ve used fingernail polishes and still sorting all That out.. but as far as clear coat goes.. I wouldn’t think that a body shop would have extra clear laying around. Most (at least in this area) have paint mixing machines and just get what they need and shoot it.. for me.. the eBay clear is the cheapest route as far as quality and doing multiple cars in this hobby. Especially in the long run.
@@diecastoutkast6839 Awesome! I am an artist by trade and have most if not all of the colors of the brand you showed. Never thought to mix them with clear.
Kamikaze Custom Diecast get the 10 warranty and take it back anytime you mess it up while learning.. I shoot it strait out of the box.. no adjustments.. regulate the air pressure around 25-30 psi
This is the best budget painting video I have ever seen. Great ideas. I wonder if you have ever thought about shooting nail polish. I remember seeing it once a while ago. Nail polish offers quite a bit of choices. Your thoughts?
Weston Ward yes sir.. my 1st custom build off was with nail polish.. I plan on perfecting it and I’ll do a video on it too.. email me at diecast_outkast@yahoo.com and I’ll send ya some pics
Bartering, reclaiming, upcycling, customizing or restoring, nothing beats that feeling of stepping back to look at the work you've done and knowing you've done a million dollar job for under a hundred bucks.
Spray cans are good too if you know how to manipulate it. I use spray paints for base coats most of the time.. but if you get an airbrush set up.. you’ll be surprised on how easy it is to control the paint
MaoTseHelen actually going to use that car in another video coming up.. I got the PERFECT build for it.. you won’t be disappointed.. there will be a real 67 cougar in that video too!
That's a very good video ! I know what you mean about people thinking you have money because you have a nice Car. I've been in the restoration business for 30 years now and people think I have money 🤣 ! I usually have something cool to drive.....only because I got a deal on the car and then busted my ass to make it presentable. Thanks again for the cool video ! 🍻
+deep junk garage I’ve had people literally try to fight me because of them being jealous.. the people who get upset over what I have and can do are usually the same people who won’t go and try themselves..
