After implementing the strategies in Fast Like A Girl, I finally lost those last stubborn 12 lbs in 2 months and fit in all of my clothes again. I’ve been intermittent fasting for the past 5 years and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t get rid of those pesky vanity pounds. I feel energy and beautiful again! Dr Mindy, I’m not sure if you will ever see this comment but thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me get my sexy confidence back and to heal an old shoulder injury after a 48 hour fast. I am a Nutritionist and have recommended your books and methods to all of my diabetic and peri/post menopausal clients. Fasting was not taught to me in school as a healing tool. I feel like I found the golden ticket in Willy Wonka and got a ride on the secret to feeling my best for the rest of my life and to help my clients with their health struggles too.

Other foods that contain lectins (for those of us sensitive to them): Tomatoes (the peels and core contain the most), potato's, eggplant, peppers, melons (all), goji berries, zucchini, and pumpkins. Most of the time it's one or 2 specifically that will affect you - if you eliminate them from your diet and then after a couple of weeks try adding them back in gradually (1 type for 1 day with 3 days in between) you'll know which ones to avoid and which are safe to occasionally eat.

Literally just got the chills from you saying Carnivore diet!! I lost 51 pounds thanks to your Fast Like A Girl book! Then somehow found Carnivore and have gained muscle and toned my body! I'm so happy you have mentioned Carnivore. I have been doing this for two months now cutting most carbs out. I still eat some vegetables and fruits. The majority of my diet now are fats and meats! Thank you so much Mindy! Love your guidance. ❤😊

If you still eat fruits and veggies, then it is keto, not carnivore.

My daughter and I are one hour away from our first 36 hour fast !!!🎉we did this together … she is 55 years old and I am 75 years old… I do not weigh myself … will know what the results are middle of next month at my doctors appointment ❤

Dr Mindy I can’t even put into words how grateful I am to have found you. Your teachings have changed my life. Back in January I changed my diet (I went keto) and I dropped some weight but after one month of incorporating what you teach my body composition has drastically changed! I wish that I could post a pic for you to see! I have struggled for over 20 years to lose weight. I tried everything and I even got to the point of thinking that maybe my body is broken and it just can’t lose the weight. But in just 30 days of following your teachings my body has change so drastically that I almost can’t believe it! Thank you a million times over!

Thank you so much for this information. At 42, I have started to intermittently missed periods. I have been fasting off and on for the better part of 5 years, but the last 9 months have been so stressful that I started giving into my urges and eating whatever I wanted. My belly fat increased and my moods were awful. I just got my very first negative lab results (of my whole life) where my liver enzymes are elevated. My A1C was also dangerously close to high, and let me tell you...... That shocked me right back into where I needed to be. I started fasting again, and I just feel better. Less bloating, more energy, etc. My appointment was in April, and since then, I have lost 9 lbs without doing very much exercise outside of walking. I love doing 2 to 3-day fasts every week or two, and while my diet isn't as perfect, the weight started coming off a lot easier after I started avoiding bad seed oils, obesegens, and I paid attention to my cycle. You are literally changing the world and people's lives. I appreciate you so much!

I really do appreciate your information and it does inspire me to fast and eat lower carb foods. That being said, eating strictly carnivore may not be the best advice long term - ask any cardiologist. Sometimes, I think we've lost our sense when it comes to food. As a 56 year old women, I feel for the young women and men trying to navigate the world of eating - please enjoy your food and make it balanced - coupled with real science and a little of what your grandma made in the kitchen!

Honeynut squash has also become MY favorite squash!! I love roasting them with brussels sprouts, adding some olive oil and a touch of maple syrup, salt and pepper. OMG! So good! I've also roasted them with beets in olive oil, rosemary sprigs and thyme sprigs, salt and pepper. Again, OMG, so good!

I have been " leaning towards the meat" since I saw your advice on it. I am happy to hear your information today. I still drink bullet proof coffee. OMD I could probably use a little more protein however I'm not hungry. I no longer crave sweets at all. But just not sure I'm getting enough protein are nutrients are micronutrients

I am one of your girls who has lost their cycle mid 20s… Please could you do a video about regulating a cycle with seeds? I thought it was flax + pumpkin day 1-14 and sesame + sunflower 14-28. From what this video said I might be mistaken? Do you have any current resources you can point me towards? I am in the last week of my first fast like a girl cycle, so I am looking forward to seeing if it has an effect 🤞🤞🤞

What are some other examples of bitter foods? I've always heard pumpkin seeds should be pre-ovulation, while Sesame and sunflower are post-ovulation for supporting progesterone... 🤷‍♀️

Hi Dr Mindy, i’m walking against a (long) wall. I find it difficult to loose vanity weight (so i have healthy bmi just want to loose a few more kilo’s) i am 1.65 m and 58 kilos. Its like i can loose a vit then my body fights back and gain it back. Just a few last kilos. What can i do please? Good Morning. I am devasted. I stood on the scale after doing what your many great videos have instructed me to do to the letter and I lost no weight. But my sugar levels have plummeted from 7,6 to 5,5 upon waking up. This is my week 2. I did the 36-hour fast and ate for 12. During the 36 hour, I had to have half an avoe due to hunger hormones driving me mad. Filled with joy on the sugar levels. I don't look at gifted hours in the mouth as it means something in this new lifestyle must be working. Pressing on.

look up "72 hour Rolling fast"...fasting works over time. So keep going with your fasting you will get results.

I appreciate the valuable knowledge you share in your videos but my concern is meat. Firstly, what about the hormones cows etc are given and cost of grass fed meat. With the cost of living crisis - in my country, anyway - our food prices have rocketed including poultry and fish but especially meat.

tryptophan, methionine and Sistine are problematic along with increasing serotonin and estrogen. Dr Mercola talks often about this, based on Ray Pete's work. Georgi Dekov talks about it with him.

Interesting. I have been doing carnivore since Jan 31, 2024. And I mostly do OMAD (one meal a day) , this is because carnivore is so filling, I do not feel hungry. Once in awhile I will have a small snack after my one meal, usually eggs. I have lost about 25 lbs. Being carnivore and learning about all the plant anti nutrients, I am hesitant to add them back into my meals(cutting them out for the most part has greatly improved my gut). *I do occasionally eat fermented pickles and sauerkraut since they are low in anti nutrients and I feel it helps with my gut health* I do find the carb loading the week before your period intriguing. I might try this out since I have endometriosis, I think this could help with my fasting. What is a low anti nutrient carb I could add during this time? Currently doing 72 hour rolling fasts and OMAD. SW:180 CW: 157ish HEIGHT: 5'3" AGE: 40. TY for all the great info, I love learning new things :)

I have been IF-ing for 3 months now, 17 + hrs of fasting doesn't get me into ketosis, with MCT oil, I can get a ketone of 0.5. I suspect I am insulin resistant, I am very active HIIT training 5x/wk, petite, not overweight, my fasting BG is between 110-120, I was hoping I would start improving my FBG and switch to ketosis faster. My vice is that because of my job, I eat late at night and my last meal, usually a smaller one is at 10 pm. This is my fasting story. I have not given up yet, hoping that my body will learn how to switch, I eliminated toxins, I don't follow a strictly keto diet but get most of my carbs from natures foods. Any advice or insights? as always, thanks so much!

Hi there! Are you fasting in accordance to your monthly hormone cycle like Dr. Mindy teaches in her book Fast Like A Girl? There is a time to fast and not to fast in honor your hormones. Also, that late night meal will negatively affect glucose. The goal is to close your fasting window much earlier. This may slow down your ability to metabolically switch from sugar-burner to fat-burner. I am doing gentle fasting bc omad was too little calories and slowed my metabolism even more. BUT on my period I can tell my estrogen is high and I know estrogen spikes insulin itself. Lordy.. so hard to not gain on my period

I have found that when I combine a peppermint teabag along with the Yerba mate teabag it makes a better tasting tea as well as its soothing to my hungry stomach. Very comforting and satisfying.

I had the same, doctors wanted me on meds at 15! I refused because I was heathy. I was an athlete with 0 body fat. I found Atkins diet many years ago and actually eating meat is the only thing that has dropped my cholesterol levels naturally. My doctor said keep doing it. My levels are Normal all my labs check out great and with RU-vid and all these doctors out there now, you should find the ones who discuss how we don’t get cholesterol from eating cholesterol. There are many more studies available now explaining this. I’m my 30’s I had a friend whose liver was shot because she went on cholesterol meds I. Her 20’s. I found it interesting since she couldn’t take the meds anymore they had her doing a Keto diet with no carbs and high in meats and fats. Good luck!!

There are different variations of fasting and eating. You choose which one works best for your goals. Science has changed since Dr Mindy wrote her book. We still say that 50-75gm protein is best for weight loss while you're learning to become metabolically flexible. Once you accomplish that, then you can move on to adding protein = adding muscle. It's really individual, because while a man could eat 100gm of protein in a steak in one sitting and their body can use all of that where a 55 year old menopausal woman cannot, some of that protein would likely be converted to fat. 💙 Dr Mindy's Team

Dr.Mindy how are you doing? I wanted to thank you alot 🙏 you are a life saver in my fasting journey 😊😊.People should fast ,because I lost a lot of weight since I started my fasting journey. I think I have 2 years now of fasting and I was in my heavy weigh 68kgs and drop to 50kgs now maintaining there but sometimes I go to 48 or 49 when I do longer fast like 72 hours or 96 hours in order to reset my body . So my current weight now is 52kg 🎉🎉🎉.But what bothers me the most is i have eating disorder (binging) i eat a lot when it comes to eating period😢. Can you please advise me please

I find that if I eat the healthy food first, then I haven't got the stomach capacity to overeat. I start with fermented foods, then swede/cauliflower/Brussel sprouts or broccoli, depending on what I've bought. I then have an avocado, a soft boiled egg, some days a tin of mackerel, then nuts and kefir or yoghurt (with ground cinnamon mixed in). Then I'm too full to continue eating. My weight fluctuates around 108-110 lbs. Dr Eric Berg has a comfort eaters guide on pdf, I don't know if you've visited his channel too?

Last week I tried dinner to dinner fasting every other day for 4 days and I cannot believe how much my mood and energy improved. 15 women in the age of 65 who practiced intermittent fasting for 6 weeks improved their menstrual cycle. Are you kidding us?!?! I am 62 and did fasting for the last 9 weeks (36 hours once per week). Not even one pound lost :( although I didn’t gain ever. Also. I swam every day in the cold ocean 55 F for 40 minutes for years. But my weight is up for 10 pounds for the last 3 years despite avocado, polyphenols, proteins, low carb diet.. all these comments here of people who lost over 50 pounds just reducing drinking of sodas are bs. I can’t lost 7-8 pounds despite my extremely healthy diet and active life style. Very disappointed..

Dr Mindy is watermelon fasting ok during the first 10 days of menstrual cycle when trying to get pregnant . I love watermelon fasting and can go days eating only that , but don’t want to spike blood sugar.

Hi- no need for confusion. It depends on your goals. In Dr. Mindy’s book Fast Like A Girl, she teaches how/when to fast and what to eat in accordance with your hormones. There is a time to eat Ketobiotic and a time to fast and a time to eat Nature’s Carbs- it is not a “same day diet” or “same type of fast”. I feel overwhelmed with the amount of food recommendations to eat for each cycle plus intermittent fasting. With IF my hunger hormone is down significantly which is great but then when and how could i possibly eat all the different types of plants, seeds meat recommended? I just dont have much of an appetite after long fasts. Feeling a bit lost.

Drmindy I’m going on holiday soon to Italy. Can I eat croissants for breakfast? There’s not many healthy options. Sugary granola, high sugar fruit (no berries, nothing organic), caged eggs. How can I try to still be a bit healthy?

The daily fresh bread in Italy is not at all like that in the USA. Enjoy! One option if you are struggling with breakfast is to skip it or push it to later in the day. What if you have growths or tumors on the adrenal glands. Along with fatty liver disease. Since the adrenal glands are responsible for putting hornones in the blood, can fasting help repair this problem.

I'm learning about this fasting, and it's definitely making me aware of so many things. I didn't realize, and I'm a little embarrassed to say that I don't know or understand much about women's hormones. I have an IUD and haven't had a period in years, so I honestly have no idea how my cycle and hormones are working.

Hi! You can do the 30-Day Reset as outlined in Dr Mindy's book, Fast Like a Girl, using the 'New Moon' as your Day 1 (use search engine to find the day of the new moon) or you can do a weekly variation like the 5-1-1 or the 4-2-1 Protocol. Hi I love fasting and help keep my weight while I could eat more, however I am stuck qui 10 pounds since my ménopause at 52, now 55 I decided to get hormonal therapy estrogen and Progesteron which I take the 2 at the same time every day. I do feel better with hormonal therapy, my brain is back et sleep better, however I feel strange to take the 2 at the same time, love for you to do something especially for us menopausal women. So if meat wasn’t a main source of food then I’m certain there has to be a alternative. I think some diets are a way to heal certain health conditions. And in this case meat doesn’t have a high profile of carbs. Also let’s take in account that food is no longer food anymore at least how it once was back in the past which is contributing to a lot of the health and weight gain issues.

Okay so I'm confused. I intend to implement a carnivore lifestyle starting the next new moon (7/2). However, after viewing this video I am not clear on how to implement these things to support my hormones while living a carnivore lifestyle. BTW, I am 48 y/o, had a hysterectomy in 2011 because of fibroids and have not experienced any menopausal symptoms.

Avocados really hurt my stomach. I also had that trouble with bananas a long time ago when I ate them. I did a little research and I think they have a common enzyme or something that causes that. Have you heard of this before and if so what would you recommend? Thanks ❤

@@DrMindyPelz I bought the book. Happy to have it. It says multiple seeds for each part of the cycle. I know it isn't black and white. Even the brand Beeya advertised in the description pairs pumpkin and flax for first half then sesame and sunflower for second in their mixes. It's not a big deal. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing but I was wondering why the emphasis on something different from what everyone else is teaching.
