abbey, i love your content and have been an avid viewer for over a year now. i feel a really special connection with you and your approach to life in general, but to be completely honest, buying into some of your ideology has prevented me from losing weight. i know that your philosophy is painted and seen through the lense of your own struggles with a restrictive ED, but I truly feel like you're mistifying weightloss too much and making it seem impossible out of fear that folks will end up developing disordered patterns. I hit rock bottom weight wise last year when my doctor kept telling me my body was 'abnormal' for my height (it was, I was almost 200lbs at 5'3") and decided to make a real change. i embraced protein and prioritize nutritional value in all foods I consume. i indulge from time to time, but I do make a conscious effort not to eat pizza and ice cream every single day because that simply doesn't serve a purpose. i've accepted that I WILL feel restricted of some delicious highly processed foods at times because i'm an adult and can choose what goes into my body in a way that serves me long term. it's okay to have health AND aesthetic goals and pursue them unapologetically - it's not 'fatphobic', it's not 'diet culture'. 30lbs down and counting! june 2023 update: 60lbs down 💕

That's amazing, your comment is so well worded and fair. I was just commenting below that it is very misleading and irresponsible to imply she eats like she does in her videos and maintains such a slim physique. There's been numerous studies linking portion sizes and higher calorie foods with bmi/ weight gain. It's not fair to her viewers to set them up for failure by not being more honest and realistic. I hope you succeed in your journey and best of luck to you, you've already accomplished so much!

I've had a similar experience, I can definitely relate to what you are saying. My dietician I see currently has really helped me to focus on what information serves me and what doesn't. I get what you're saying but I think because of her intuitive eating approach and how if you truly do that you'd eventually find your body's most happiest weight/set weight (whether larger or smaller) she has to teeter on the edge a bit when it comes to weightloss and be careful what she says. I never thought she ever made weightlos seem like a mystifying thing though
@dollyrevenge98
@dollyrevenge98 Год назад
I love some of her stuff but if your goal is weight loss, you'll need to pursue other sources for that and apply some of her mindsets to your diet. Which is what I do. Like you, I have to restrict some foods in order to see results which isn't a bad thing when there are so many alternatives available for most highly processed foods.

@@jeanscurti5330 Oh god. By identifying that the girl is White , which is her race, is not DISCRIMINATING based on her race- which is by the way what defines a Racist comment: to discriminate based on race. This comment was an observation, a very opinionated one and the type that are being voted off the planet. It was not discriminatory at all. It was an accurate generalization. Have you seen mainstream Hollywood? Lots of girls exactly how she described. By identifying this, it is not racist. If she said "that girl is white. I don't want to respect her because she is white" = racist = discrimination based on race. Dear God. Oh did my reference to God offend you? Was that ... something "ist". Hi Abbey. I just wanted to say I noticed you had a 6 part video course on eating disorder recovery but it costs 250 dollars. I must say that I'm disappointed. 250 dollars is incredibly expensive just for 6 videos, non-inperson content. Consider that most of us not living in Europe or the USA have to double that amount by 10-20 times. The people who have in person resources available to them already are the ones who can afford the videos. Those of us who cannot access help are those who either don't have the money or local availability and we are likely ones who cannot afford 250 dollars to watch videos.

As an RD I would strongly recommend avoiding gluten, sugar and dairy unless you have a diagnosed allergy or intolerance. Focus on a balanced plate at each meal, regular meals during the day, and reducing stress in daily life and around meals. Also PS I’m not sure if you are a female but it is normal for females to have a “bump” on their stomach - it is your reproductive organs :)

@@laurenmillyx hi! Thank you so much. I’m scared to eat either of those as my stomach starts aching (especially with gluten). I think I’ve damaged my body a lot with restricting, yet I can’t seem to stop. Somehow I know that I’m not “allergic” or “intolerant” on either of those, the problem is that I restrict so much of everything that my body just isn’t used to digesting properly. I should really work on that 🥹. Thank you so much for this reminder about a bump on a lower stomach. I have it, I know a lots of other women do too, but it’s hard to accept it. @laurenmillyx
@laurenmillyx 9 месяцев назад
@@ednahamulic6764 Yes the body adapts if you haven’t eaten something for a while. I would recommend slowly incorporating small amounts of gluten and dairy into the diet and increase as your body adjusts. For dairy, start with things like cheese and yogurt, then progress to milk as it’s easier on the stomach. The body will become “intolerant” if you haven’t eaten them for a while but if you slowly start reintroducing them it will reset back to accepting them. If you want to work with me 1:1 I’m happy to send you my email?

Can I just ask you about your approximate caloric intake for the day because for me this seems like an awful lot of food and I know that I’m metabolically really fucked up but it just seems like a lot of food Way more than I have to eat to maintain my weight, And I’m not even talking about trying to lose… that I’m a big girl

I know this question has nothing to do with the video but I really need to ask is it okay to eat dried fruits like prunes raisins and dates in a meal that contains a starchy vegetable like a sweet potato or potatoe? For example is it okay to eat a bowl of oatmeal with nuts dried fruit and sweet potato together?? Or is that bad because of fermentation?? I enjoy eating a meal like this I don't have any gut issues but I was told that's an unhealthy combination is true??
