Her diet looks pretty reasonable and normal. She's not constantly cooking or preparing food and it's stuff that can mostly be cooked in bulk and stuck in the freezer for when you can't be bothered. Or in Tupperware for lunch at work. Compared to some vegans, it's pretty accessible.

After that, I make some fried eggs. And voilà, you've got a healthy, well balanced, super yummy meal. Especially, back in the day when I did triathlon training and I only wanted to fall asleep when I came home from training, this was my go-to meal. If you are training to lose weight, increasing the number of vegetables (in this case broccoli). Eating a lot of vegetables enormously helps to fill your stomach and therefore avoiding to overeat. =) Bonne appetite.

I’ve definitely lightened up on the no-oil too. I think it’s more focused on heavy, fatty dressings, fried foods and on everything! If it’s in moderation, I’ve noticed no difference.
My Greek great grandmother cooked almost everything in either olive oil or butter, and didn’t really measure how much she used, and she lived to 104! It seems so crazy to me to cut out the things that make food enjoyable just for “beauty” and this ridiculous idea of putity. Food keeps you healthy, but in my opinion it is so sad to take away the things that add flavor and joy to life. So many humans still live with such restricted access to food, and we have spent most of our history with even less. To see people with access to plenty, restricting the use of oil as though it were on the ration seems absurd and sad to me.
Abbey Sharp my mother always tried to make her potatoes just right, and she laughed when she figured out the amount of butter that took! But of course Yiayia walked everywhere and was always active, though she never did what we would call “working out”. She grew up on an olive farm in Greece, so it was just the stuff of life. Her buttery potatoes were something to be savored, and enjoyed in moderation alongside a myriad of other foods, they weren’t meant to be worried over, or constantly calculated for maximum health benefit.
This was great. I love her workouts so I would have been very sad if she she got an awful review. Could you do a video on foods for hormone balance? I'm so confused, is soy good? Bad? Destroying the crops of the world? On that note, I'd also be interested to hear about the least ethical foods.
@@AbbeysKitchen I've read about it a bit but I'd still like a video too! It's probably important for all the people who are worried about soy so they're more informed
You are asking someone who eats meat about the least ethical foods you aren’t going to get the truth lol her diet is unethical and it is disgusting what she feeds her child. Go vegan if you want to save your health, animals and the planet! I agree that for most people, no oil is unnecessary and not beneficial. Moderation is key, and the type of oil as well. HOWEVER, for reversing heart disease no oil is super important. My dad had a heart attack a decade ago and has been on statins ever since. By eating a whole food plant based diet with no oil, he has been able to get off of those harmful drugs and is feeling so much better! Eventually he may be able to add some oil back in gradually. I just wanted to point this out. There is quite a bit of scientific research out there on this topic if you look it up. :-)
Maddie is amazing. Thanks for covering her well. She is balanced Maddie I have met her in person a few times and she is an amazing girl genuinely healthy and has helped me in many ways :). Go Maddie ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Do you know what virgin olive oil means? It means that it was made under a certain temperature, so some of the nutrients wouldn't get destroyed. That's why it's more healthy and also more expensive... If you heat it up, you're just wasting money. It won't hurt you, but like I said, you're paying more just to make a regular non-virgin olive oil from it.
@@MasterJezzy nope, recent studies have shown that extra virgin olive oil is one of the best oils to fry in. :) it's pretty new data though, so many people have no idea about it, have a look if you want: actascientific.com/ASNH/pdf/ASNH-02-0083.pdf have a great day y'all! :)

Hi. I would live advice from you for dietary needs with those who are disabled like myself and physically unable to work out much. I do walk small amounts each week with my walker but really cant do much more. Since falling ill 2 years ago I've gone from a UK size 14 to a size 20 which is 3 dress sizes. I had medications that really piled the weight on and added bonus of hormonal imbalances. Now I cant shift the weight and really want to through my diet. I secondly, cant cook big meals myself. My partner is my carer but works full.time, he cooks the evening meal. During the day however I can only make a tin soup or sandwich, that's the extent of my abilities. I would love advice or even pay for it from you because I trust your methods. Thank you xx
I agree that whole vegetables are better than vegetable juice, but how did vegetable juice get judged as bad while coconut oil based ice cream is judged good?
I think it's more like "whole veggies is better than juice, and coconut oil based ice cream is better than sugary dairy ice cream". You pick the 'better' one out of each category. In Aus we have this *stupid* system where the government rates items on a 5 star basis, but the items are compared to similar items not to their actual nutritional content. For example, a cupcake might get 5 stars because other cupcakes have more sugar than it. It's not necessarily the best choice, but it's _better_ than the other options
Interesting system!! Juice wasn’t bad at all! I said hey I love juice but don’t let it replace veggies or use it as a punishment. And the ice cream is a treat! Love the small portion size and I Believe there’s room for treats!
I'd love a video on eating for shift workers 😊😊 research to read, where to go to for advice etc. I'm a forgetful eater, and after night shifts I can accidentally wait until 5pm to start eating for the day if I'm not careful, and then I'm starving at midnight 🤦🤦
I don’t understand why every RU-vidr fitness woman is vegan!!! Whyyyyy whyyy is everyone afraid of dairy and meat!? Whey is such a good protein especially for muscle building. Why people. I’m really over the trend of eating dairy free etc when there isn’t a lactose intolerance. It’s not actually “healthier” guys 🤦🏼♀️
I love how respectful you are giving your assessment as a dietitian, other professionals just make fun from some youtubers (well, some of them give wrong advices and that should be controlled) with the only aim of discredit other people knowledge... As a health professional (I'm renal doctor) I think your way is the best way to teach good habits and how to eat healthy. Congratulations
Your talk on oils is really unfounded, and has nothing to do with Maddie's diet. It also directly contradicts your spiel on green juice - if you think juice is bad/unnecessary, why don't you think oil is bad/unnecessary? You clearly just want to promote further diet confusion masked by appearing to be concerned about RU-vidrs' diets/you viewers. Your infographic is ultimately confusing and overcomplicated. There's no reason *not* to avoid oils, especially if you are trying to lose weight (which let's be real, most people watching these videos are trying to do!). Calorie density is incredibly important for weight loss and you essentially don't acknowledge that by saying that cold-pressed oils are healthy, point blank. They're only "heart-healthy" or help lower your cholesterol...in comparison to saturated fats like butter and lard. They're probably fine to include in your diet in reasonable amounts if, like Maddie, you don't have heart disease and are possibly trying to gain weight; however ultimately, they are just excess empty calories that can be gotten from elsewhere in a better form from whole foods. Exactly as you said about juice. The least you and your editing team can do is *try* to be consistent!
Mya Calendrino I’ve been vegan 2 years 🤷🏼♀️ if foods have different prosperities, it can be true that they break down differently in our systems, especially when put together.

Oil, yes but green juice no using the same logic to argue the point? Just seemed weird that you highlighted green juice was missing fibre so better to consume the whole food but then said oil is great, don’t just rely on whole foods for fat 🤷🏻♀️
The whole no-oil thing is such a cult. The irony is that they're ok with, and love processing fruits & veggies to extract the sugar water, but doing the same with nuts, seeds and olives is somehow different and bad *rolls eyes * . Sometimes when I'm in a mood, I'll add olive juice in my list of ingredients on my Insta vegan recipe posts. There are whole chapters on the benefits of different oils backed by actual research in any up-to-date nutritional science textbook, so I'll go with what science has to say and not 20-something RU-vidrs with little to no nutritional education, or even a doctor presenting small sample observational evidence used to sell a book. Even when we push science aside, the simple intuitive act of putting lemon and olive oil on a salad makes the most of all the vitamins & minerals in the salad...the lemon increases the iron uptake and the oil allows the fat-soluble vitamins to be absorbed.
"No oil" is not fat free. We use loads of fat, just in the form of tahini or peanutbutter or nuts. The point is to have the fibers with the fat so that we can actually have our gut bacteria do something good with it, instead of refined oil clogging up our arteries.
I’m sorry but this is a load of crap. The nuts and oats is a decent amount of protein as it is. Yes it’s carb heavy but it’s unprocessed carbs AND THEY ARE HEALTHY
I’m early (ish)! Do you think you could talk about eating healthy in college and trying to get into better habits while not having a lot of control over options (I’m required to have a meal plan and there’s not really a way for me to cook for myself other than very basics!)
In Italy we use a lot of extra virgin olive oil and I tell you a secret accordingly to statistics we are long-lived and do not have a high percentage of obeses like in Anglo-Saxon countries. This thing of cooking without oil sounds really crap.
Quick oats... NO. Oats need to be COOKED for a while. Juicing with removing fiber.. NO. The lunch sounds good. PS, I cannot eat tree nuts without serious gastric distress. Agree good oils are GOOD for one. I use avocado oil, EVOO, and grapeseed oil. (I am also not a vegan.)

Keziah Dean No not at you :) people are too rude hiding behind their computers, phones ect! Responses like that discourage people from asking questions and it’s not right.
OxundHeiner There is no argument on my end. I was simply stating that she does mention it in previous video and genuinely asking if it does have to me mentioned in every video? A simple "Hi Melissa, yes it’s a legal requirement to mention it in ever video" unless I’m reading your respond in my own way but it doesn’t sound very nice the way you replied.
Painfreekitchen Oates are very high in phytic acid. Phytic acid is called an anti nutrient because it blocks mineral absorption in the body. A lot of dieticians aren’t educated on the topic at all and hurt their clients by encouraging them to eat unprepared whole grains.

Recovering Omnivore - Animal Based Diet but doesn’t the act of cooking oats reduce the phytic acid? Also from what I’ve understood, it only stops us from absorbing all of the minerals within the food itself. It doesn’t latch onto other minerals. By cooking the oats, we shouldn’t have much of an issue with the phytic acid. It’s not ideal but it’s not detrimental. At least that’s what I’ve understood but i might need to read more studies
You said oils aren’t bad because it’s fats you need in your diet. I’m counting calories right now because intuitive eating won’t work for me (I’m learning how to feel hunger and satiation as I’ve been addicted to food my whole life) oil adds 120 or more calories to a meal. How do you get around that if you don’t want to add those calories?
Have you ever done a video reviewing Herbalife products? I would be really interested in that. 🙂 I don't use any myself but I know a ton of people who swear by the shakes/smoothies especially.
Good video but I don't agree with your oil approach. There is plenty of new evidence that clearly shows oil is not healthy. The heart protective effect from the Mediterranean diet comes from eating mostly fruits, vegetables and legumes. I'm not saying a bit of olive oil here and there is going to kill you, but certainly, looking at the data I wouldn't recommend the I take as a healthy fat.
Oil, depending on type, IS a healthy fat. Avocado, olive, seed and nut. Perfectly healthy. But as always, moderation is important. No one's saying deep fry everything or anything. Instead, a little olive Oil is fine for cooking. Don't be afraid to eat nuts or seeds. Don't be afraid to have certain oils. Also the Mediterranean diet does include oils -- such as olives and nuts and seeds. It also encompasses fish. So I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
I have binged your first five WIEAD videos and I'm too impatient to know the answer to this question so I'll just ask it now: Have you considered doing a chronic illness WIEAD where the subject is sharing how he/she has had to drastically adjust their attitudes towards food and dietary habits based on limitations imposed not by their choices or lifestyles, but by the fluctuations in functionality of various parts of their bodies? (Like: WIEAD POTS or WIEAD Crohn's or WIEAD [insert type of] cancer or WIEAD cirrhosis or WIEAD [insert any chronic illness that impacts how your body requests and digests food]?)
I would love to see a video on vitamins! I have read about how the vitamin industry is fairly self-regulated and individual brands can therefore include a lot of filler, etc. So would be interested to know if/what benefits vitamins really offer, and how to know which brands are good quality.
Great suggestion!! I just did a lit review on veganism and human health and a Danish study remarked that while the vegans of that study supplemented Vitamin D the plant-based D2 version was inferior to the animal-sourced D3 and they still fell into deficiency which in turn made them deficient in Calcium. I would be interested to know how many other vitamin supplements are the same. Not to mention supps can get expensive,it would be nice to know where to spend and get the best for you buck.
Are the laws different if you are getting commission for sales rather than getting directly paid for promoting a product. It seems like she’s getting money for everyone who buys the product through her link
Honestly I think the no oil lifestyle that Maddie previously adopted had nothing to do with weight management. She has always made it pretty clear that avoiding oil was for the sake of her skin as it caused breakouts etc. Also every time she has done a recipe video she will say that you can always sub oil for water/broth when she's sautéing veggies (for example) and never seems to be promoting or pushing the no oil lifestyle on any of her viewers...think this particular video misrepresented her diet choices just a bit but still really fair of Abbey to call out the weight loss comment! Another great video :)
So glad you did this one. I was curious what you would think. I used to watch her a lot but I got tired of her for a couple of reasons. One was the oil free thing and what seems to me sometimes like an overconsumption of fruit. In one video, she ate an entire watermelon for breakfast! I also got tired of seeing her always wearing nothing but exercise clothes and bikinis. We know she has a fit body, but personally, people showing off their bodies all the time is a real trigger for me!
The whole point of of juices is to *not* have the fibre, and like you said, to have a condensed form of micronutrients. Since she eats a whole-food plant based diet, sure, her fibre intake is nothing to fret about. Nothing wrong with getting more greens in- we all good use a big dose of greens :) edit: for the oil spiel, oil is *really* dense in calories- so if you want to lose weight, using oil all the time adds up the calories and you might feel heavy after eating veggies baked in oil... it tastes great and adds so much flavour, but i think it's good to be cautious about the calories per serving
magda pie thanks for your thoughts. I get that, but then if she’s eating a whole food plant based diet she also likely doesn’t need said concentrated nutrients most of which are water soluble and peed out in excess. I would way rather see more healthy fats and protein fot someone who is already getting in tons of veggies (especially since Maddie said she’s trying to gain) and more whole veggies for the general population then green juice every day. Having said that, I think Maddie is Having it in moderation which is fine but I am flagging for the general population watching
@@AbbeysKitchen Ah, okay, I understand that :) But do you think it's still beneficial to drink green juices to get those EXTRA nutrients? Because sometimes, you don't want to eat a big salad or a bowl of greens 😝
