I don't know where you have been in Guatemala but from my experience it was dirt cheap and much cheaper then Mexico. Food is amazing I have had great meals for one 1/4 of what it would cost in Canada and in the US. Also, Tax evasion is not cool.

Ha ha ha I`ts crazy that you are still in Guatemala if you don`t like it, please do yourself a favor and leave, is funny you are the first person that talks bad about Guatemala. I feel that you just want everything for cheap. If you want better hotels and restaurants move to the Capital or Antigua, in Xela they have pension Bonifaz and a few more but they are not cheap, move back to Mexico and have a happy life and you can save some pesos, don`t forget we are here only once. I love Guatemala everything but California is my place nothing can compare especially the bay Area in one word the best place in the world but you can`t be cheap.

Much more difficult now to get a residency or a second passport in Guatemala thanks to pressure from the US.
@jhonnyfromme2109
@jhonnyfromme2109 4 года назад
Its why I urge people to act now if they can in another country but most latin coutries are making it difficult. One of the major benifits before was no need to live here all year just 1 day a year and no need for proof of income.
@outtahere321
@outtahere321 4 года назад
@@jhonnyfromme2109 I think the Latin countries are making it difficult because of Uncle Sam putting pressure on them. Uncle Sam of course wants to keep his work animals from getting out. At least that is what seems to be happening. I was working on getting a residency while in the country and had all my paperwork in order, but they changed the rules while I was there.

What about the healthcare in Guatemala? Do they have Universal Healthcare?
@jhonnyfromme2109
@jhonnyfromme2109 7 лет назад
If you mean free yes, but its not that good unless you like to wait in line, private healthcare starts at say 35 usd for a basic plan that covers alot for an executive tpye plan say 150 usd and for something in the middle say 50 bucks but keep in mind heart surgery and stuff like that is pretty cheap and with insurance not much at all...or just pay as you go....The private clinics hospitals are pretty good except for brain surgery even cancer care is pretty good...

jhonny fromme One thing I could not fault the UK for was their healthcare. The National Health Service was great. We lost our one and only child, but that's not the doctor's fault. The baby was not healthy. Its sad. Anyway, UK National Health Service saved my life when my throat closed up due to an allergic reaction. They took care of me. If it weren't for them, I would not be here talking to you now. I would have stayed in the UK, but the cost of living kept getting higher and higher until eventually I had to go back to the United States. I lived in the UK for seven long years, and I had a lot of fun there. Now my wife and her son live in America with me now. I raised her son, and took him in. Property prices are cheaper, but the healthcare is ultra expensive.
@jhonnyfromme2109
@jhonnyfromme2109 7 лет назад
Wow! Thats really sad, but im glad you got the healthcare you needed at that time in your life....I know what you mean even in my family if they are uninsured and go to hospital there screwed in fact that happened to me before I can down here I think they billed me 20,000 usd just to do tests and stay over night at the hospital when i feighted even though i told them i was ok they called the police and the police intimidated me to go to the hospital but I didn't nor do I have now 20,000 usd to pay them...
@pluto4847
@pluto4847 7 лет назад
jhonny fromme That is disgusting, but its because American HealthCare is so indoctrinated that they cannot see beyond their own ass! They are narcissistic blood suckers who charged you 20,000 usd. I once refused treatment because of my inability to pay, but the hospital instead got one of their psychiatric staff to observe me for 78 hours in a mental ward. Why? Because I wanted to sign myself out against doctor's wishes. So they said I was not thinking right, and held me against my wishes. I didn't have the money for the liver biopsy so because I refused to get the test, they said I was a danger to myself. Needless to say, 78 turned out to be seven days. There was nothing mentally wrong with me, I missed time off work and they would not compensate me for lost earnings, It nearly got me fired. And at the end of it, they said they were looking out for my best interest. More like their best interest because my Insurance was still billed, and I owed the difference. This was back in 2002, and funnily enough it was the year I moved to England.

We already have too many people in Guatemala. A very special place, the craddle of the Mayan Civilization, one of the five most influential in the history of the world and one of the most beautiful diversity hotspots in the world. Tourism and education is what we need. Not more expats. Please go to Mexico instead and leave our water and forest pristube. Have a great trip.

A lot of the info given about Guatemala is not accurate. I have spent a lot of time here, live with my best friends who are Guatemalan, and had my own business. Getting residency is not easy and it takes at least two years. Opening your own business is simpler than in the US, but it's not 'easy'; there are rules and regulations here, too. The food is much blander than in Mexico but it can be very flavorful, and it is so easy to obtain fresh produce in the mercados. I eat a lot more meat in Guatemala than in the US because the meat is fresher - you can buy live chickens or ones that were butchered that morning - and they arent loaded with anti-biotics and growth hormones like in the US. However, as mentioned in the video, infrastructure is pretty bad: roads, sewers, electricity, internet. He mentioned quality of life. I cant compare yo Mexico, but I can compare to the US. Guatemalans are much more friendly than people in the US. I live in a very poor rural community (dirt floor shacks, no hot water, a lot of unemployment, some families miss meals on a semi-regular basis) but the people are upbeat, appreciative of what they do have and willing to share the little they have. This gives everyone a high standard of living.

Yes, as I have said in videos the immigration laws have changed and its difficult to get the residency now. I am lucky I got in when I did, thanks for the comments.

if you like so much Mexico. dude you should take the Mexican citenzship . I know the process it is more difficult but it worth it. Mexican passport opens to travel also to more than 120 countries without a visa. but I understand the reason your are in Guatemala. but I'm for sure that Mexico it is similar to the USA in some aspects . not in all.

Hey thanks for the positive comment, I get a lot of negative reactions when I say Mexico is really moving up in the world. For me its one of my Favorite places on the planet and now with the exchange rate where its at its super affordable to live there and for me the infrastructure there beats Central America hands down....

You need to go down some rabbit holes. Which people could say who gives a fuck, but it does matter. Fuck comparing Paris to el DF, Paris doesnt set a standard to anything, Paris is one thing and Mexico City is another The modern architecture in DF is based on Spanish architecture which is european in origin anyway. But the Ancient pyramids and other monuments are from the originators of the country the Mexicas, Aztecs, Toltecs and on and on, those you cant ever associate with any other place on earth and thats why its the Best in the world.

I came back to America for a few reasons: 1) During the end of stay in the UK in 2009-2010, British Members of Parliment under Chancellor Gordon Brown were involved in a massive MP expense scandal--they were using British Tax money to buy second homes, cigarettes, and hiring contractors (Misuse of Tax Payers Money); 2) Employment was not easy to find in the UK so I took the only job that was available--working in a Slaughter House. I worked there for four years because as an American I had difficulty getting a British Employer to take me on. I wanted to work in my field of Reading, but I ended up in another job. The Slaughter House was really tough Graft. I didn't slaughter the Animals, I was in charge of shipping and receiving, but the people there were real bullies. It was long hours--12 hours a day, fairly good pay, but I didn't have a life anymore; 3) I knew that the longer I remained in the UK, the harder it would be for me to save up to buy a house. I had no credit in the UK as an Expat. Nobody would offer me finance to buy a house; and 4) I came back hoping that Obamacare would be similar to the National Health Service of the UK, and it turned out it wasn't; and 5) My mother was having problem with her eyesight so I came back to support her, and my wife and her son shortly followed. But now we have a House of our own. However, nothing really has changed on the Healthcare front--just as corrupt as the day I left America back in 2002. Where did I stay in the UK. A lovely sea-side town called Scarborough. Its was fun to visit, but impossible to make ends meet there.

Mexican cartels beheadings, i'm not so sure about that Jhonny...or maybe I'm watching to much CNN? I'm loosing it with all the propaganda about where to move in this countries. Panama, Costa rica, Paraguay bla bla. I just want a quite place (no racial drama) like the States; where people are nice and I'm able to have a farm and grow organic sustainable food for me and my neighbors. That's all, a simple life like the Amish..

Well Paraguay is ok and land is cheap but I think Monsanto owns half the country there, I like Central America because its close to my family and cheaper to fly too...Panama and Costa Rica are kinda expensive now and there trying to make it harder for people to immigrate there....Mexico has the Cartels your correct...Here in Guatemala we have a lot of Mennonites, they seem to do well here and have bakery's here and sell all kind of cheeses honey bread ect ...I still think the States is ok for what your looking for and in a few years I think land in the States will get cheaper at least in the country...thanks for the comments, good luck with organic foods!

TOMAS SURIA yes indeed you're watching too much CNN, Mexico has cartel violence that's a fact, but Mexico is a really big country, you have plenty of states to choose from, the most dangerous are mostly the ones in the north and a couple in the center of the country, Central America has a really big problem with gang violence, and with not too much territory to move arround , it makes it difficult for you to escape this violence. Costa Rica is an exception to that, it is actually a very nice place to live if you like nature an quietness, how ever you'll have trouble finding big cosmopolite cities or luxurious shoping malls (if you like that kind of life style), Panama city has that, although that's pretty much all you have, the city and the jungle, while in Mexico you'll find a little bit of all of that i just mentioned from these central american countries, big cities, small colonial towns, all types of climates, beautiful world class beaches, etc. so yeah i'd definetly recomend Mexico, Jalisco state, Puebla or Guanajuato would be my recomendations, but you have 31 states to choose from so it's just up to what kind of life style you're looking for.
@GUITARTIME2024
