The one thing I do miss from these bootleg reviews are some audio samples of a couple tracks within the album. Still, from what you are working with (and showing the desire to create videos) you are doing an awesome job.

That was a great review. I really thinky our comedic style comes out best with the low production. It wasn't just your comedy that made the review so good though, you really had a lot of well thought and solid points to make on the album that made the video a joy to listen through. Especially when it meant sitting through someone talking about the new Dimmu Borgir album for eight minutes.

I can't stop listening to the album. I was one of the disappointed people after the singles came out, but after a few album listens I fell in love. It flows very well and the lyrics are amazing!

Hey show idea for y’all. You should have a show that tells fans what bands to checkout if they are fans of (insert more well known band). I think that would be pretty cool. I often find myself loving a particular band and I have heard all of their music but I want more, so I search for other bands that are similar to satisfy my need.

You nailed it with the Burzum keyboard patch comparison. Thought the same thing when the first single dropped. They used the patch on EVERY SONG.

The Bootleg Edition seems really fresh and way cooler than the regular Overkill Reviews. Don't take me wrong - all the effects, clips and whatever are pretty cool, but, in the end, what's really important is a review itself. Well, and a little touch of humour always helps too. Thumbs up, Blayne!

I haven't listened the whole album yet, just some tracks and I find it really, really interesting. Try to listen "Council of wolves and snakes" with headphones late at night, and you will realise how greatly detailed work it is. I just did it and I'm waiting for the darkness of the night to fall down again 🤗

Another great review! Funny and honest. Plus, Choir opinion is spot on. Just like listening to opera, it’s much better in another language.

The bootleg reviews are great to tide us over until the new "season" begins proper. Maybe this format could be done for albums that don't make the cut as one of the two friday-release albums?

Unfortunately I agree with this whole review. When the first single came out I was like alright I’m excited about this. Second single comes out and it’s like ok.... whole album drops and it didn’t seem right but I couldn’t figure out why. This review helped some of my confusion. Thanks!

Good entertaining review. I liked the bands rehearsal demo I had, first ep and first album when I heard it back in the day. Then I rapidly grew to dislike each new release by they put out a little more each time they came out as I reviewed the promos for my 'zine.

These bootlegs are awesome. They're way more down to earth, and it feels more like someone is telling me about an album, rather than a commercialized review that feels less connected to me, the viewer. Keep these bootlegs coming, even after you come back officially!

It's funny that you mentioned the wacky 90's techno keyboards, because in an interview Silenoz talked about using some of the original 90's keyboards that they used back in the day, just for nostalgic reasons. Seems that after Vortex and Mustis left they don't care about the band anymore. If you liked that tribal experimental thing they did on Council of Wolves and Snakes, I think you are much better off listening to Rotting Christ, they sure are a band that sucessfully reinvented themselves quite a lot through the years.

Fucking great reviews, I'd subscribe to a patreon type service, if you guys didn't take hiatuses and had consistent uploads. Even if they were Blaine doing these bootleg reviews, as long as there was a consistent presence I'd walked without question. Now regardless I'd watch without question, but if there was consistency to it I'd financially support it without question as well

I'm not a huge fan of Dimmu Borgir. But I did recently get the LP of For All Tid from Michael Denner, of all people. He's got a cool shop in Copenhagen. Anyway, good review. Maybe you could do one on the new Drudkh.

Like I said on the Sleep review, I would like some sound clips. Although, I’m sure you recorded this the same day as the Sleep review, so obviously you couldn’t oblige that request. It also just occurred to me that if Blayne truly is doing these all on his own, he might not have the authority/energy/sobriety to get the rights to the music. In any case, proud of ya, Blayne, you’re doing a good job.

I still like u man even though I'm not fond of this review but I do like how you acknowledge that the new Cradle of Filth is better than you initially thought. But this new Dimmu Borgir album I give 4 out of 5 skulls I like 7 out of the 10 tracks very well and 3 that don't really belong in the Dimmu Borgir catalog

Scaled down is the way to go. Like blockbuster movies, too much money, special effects and Tom Cruise can really ruin a good thing.

I feel this is a fantastic album. I just listened to it through headphones and it is pretty damn amazing ear candy. I didnt care much for the single i heard and almost didnt give it a chance.

To be fair they said the album was going to reference norweigan black metal history. If it borrows from Burzum and Satyricon that kind of makes sense in light of what they said about the record. I actually like the new record. Was it the record I was hoping to hear after 8 years? No, but I like it.

I don't understand the hate on this, I mean it takes a few listening to appreciate every layers of it but there is not a single boring bit on it. Every time you think a song is about to get repetitive , it switch to either a bad ass riff , or amazing choir hook , different drum part , etc . Its faster and more agressive than I expected as well. From beginning to end , it's a tie for different reasons for me with my favorite Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia

I actually really enjoy the Filosofem keyboards. It creates a nice contrast. But I agree that nothing can top Burzum.
