Absolutely my Man!! Erden, He is one of the smallest body men in Rock, THEIR IS NO EQUAL TO THIS GIGANTIC VOICE!! They will be playing RJ DIO FOR GENERATIONS jan 7 2021
You're on drugs, a liar and full of shit. Dio had long lost his voice here and sounds nothing like his old self. Doubt that anyone likes this version more than the classic and I haven't even brought up the lame guitar attempt Aldrich did here. I understand, you like Dio, we all do, but lying does nothing for anyone.
@@lelandgaunt7130 First of all, that was rude. Second, Dio here is great. Even though you can hear his aged voice in certain parts of the song, but that still is great. Not better than the original Dio, but still a distinguishable legend for sure. Also, be a bit kinder to Aldrich, HE HAS RITCHIE FUCKING BLACKMORE TO COMPETE WITH! I don't think it is possible to surpass ritchie's guitar playing and tone. Bass also is a little less groovy than Craig's original version, but still listenable. I think this version slaps and can't really compare it with the original as both are great in different ways (even though i think the OG was better in overall quality)
You who write against Siberian..show little respect..Dio here is old..but still good sing..very good performans live..and how Siberian say..heavy..yes heavy...true metalheads respect Dio influence in many bands..want example..band LILIAC..listen some cover from them..Holy Diver and Rainbow in the Dark..DIO FOREVER..FOR ROCK..
@@lionelalias4561 nah you gotta warm up to keep that voice in good health. But Dio was so powerful that he breathed epicness, which kept his golden vocal chords nice and powerful.
This, ladies and gentlemen is Dio. The greatest voice that never faded away. From elf to master of the moon and heaven and hell he remained a legend. Flawless performance. Brilliant songwritter and a kind man. He never sold his soul unlike some other singers that i won't talk about. Ο θεόφωνος Ronnie James Dio Padavona.
I'd agree he was best ever male metal/ hard rock vocalist but also Gillan at his height in 70s , 80s was not far behind, just listen to original Child in Time ,- magic!
Ронни Джеймс Дио !!! Великий, легендарный и безумный голос вселенной !!! Это огромное счастье быть современником великого вокалиста !!! Покойся с миром Дио !!!
Dio was simply amazing. He was in his 60s here, no where near his prime of 25 or 30 but still sang with such elegance and beauty. He was a true icon of hard rocks and metal vocals.
@@vasilis2313 It's just more proof that a voice with proper technique can last a lifetime. There is a reason most of the great classical singers of the past sang well into their 60s, 70s, and even 80s (with outliers singing well even into their 90s!!).
His voice did age somewhat. If you listen to some Rainbow live gigs or studio version of "shame on the night" you can really hear it. But at the same time he gets more playful with age, does a lot of slides and other cool things. The raw power of his voice was in (admirably small and slow) decline, but his artistry was still growing. That's why I will always admire the man.
Was blessed to see a true artist in Ronnie as Dio -Holy Diver Tour & Rainbow back in the 80's. RIP Ronnie as we remember him on the Anniversary of his passing on May 16th , 2010 Gone to soon , never to be forgotten, Rock On Dio Fans!
@Angel, agreed ~yet even they will die one day as well. I believe Jam R was referencing the "earlier" generation of Rock n Roll heavies, ........like.... Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, John Bonham, Keith Moon, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Ronnie Van Zant, George Harrison, Dimebag Darrell, Buddy Holly, Tom Petty etc...if you get the "generational drift"...then of course there's "newer 'Real' rockers" that have passed, like. Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain & Scott Weiland and then just recently Marty Balin, Ed King & Aretha Franklin (yes, she also sung rock), Vinnie Paul and more.. Yes Angel, there are Real rockers born everyday, they exist because of their generosity & devotion to Rock n Rock. Alas! how dreary would be the world, for not the new generation of Rock n Rollers? It would be as dreary as if there were no ANGELS.
Господин Бог, Ронни Джеймс Подавоне Дио, жаль, что ни когда не смогла попасть на твой концерт , и ты ушёл от нас, не спросив своих поклонников. Но мы, кто тебя ценит и помнит, мы придём к тебе. Gute Reisen DIO❤
Ronnie James Dio, we miss you Brother, your music was so damn good, you sang your heart out with every song and that's why you were the best of the best. Hold me a ticket for I get up there to see you 🤘🎳🎤
I caught Dio with Rainbow back in 1978 touring the Long Live Rock N Roll album. He defines what a metal front man should be. I hate rating who’s the best, but he doesn’t take a back seat to anyone. RIP RJD your missed
I am a retired music guitar teacher and spent 30 years studying with a great Italian maestro..This man is a great artist singer songwriter performer. ..He is NEVER EVER FLAT..HIS technique is awesome..He is a natural talent!!! He is a natural..That is why He was able to sing brilliantly at 60+...Sad at his illness and death took him from us!!!! Rest easy RJD!!!! GOD BLESS!!!!!
Dio left this world too soon. Anyone who was ever associated with him said what an incredible person he was. It was nothing for him to come across a homeless man and take him for a meal. His heart was as big as all outdoors. He was gentle and kind, never forgetting where he came from. A truly worldly man spoken for by his philanthropic efforts. He made the world better by his actions and words. God bless you RJD. Your life on this planet was cut short but perhaps God was in need of a great singer or felt your time here was fulfilled. We also have the iconic 🤘 to thank you for. Sleep well my friend, sleep well.
I don't think so! He made his mark! Not many of us get to do what he did! If you pay close attention to this video, he didn't have long! However! He gave his heart, every day, all the way until he couldn't no more! I saw him when the holy diver album came out, he was a Monster! Met him back stage as a Pizza delivery boy! he was a gent! In 1984, $150.00 WAS A LOT OF MONEY! That was my tip, from him personally! He gave me respect! And I will always love him for that! I played for more than 20 years myself after that, and well? I understand him more than most! All i can say is,,,, Thank you Ronny!
I'm a wheel, I'm a wheel I can roll, I can feel And you can't stop me turning Cause I'm the sun, I'm the sun I can move, I can run But you'll never stop me burning Come down with fire Lift my spirit higher Someone's screaming my name Come and make me holy again I'm the man on the silver mountain I'm the man on the silver mountain I'm the day, I'm the day I can show you the way And look I'm right beside you I'm the night, I'm the night I'm the dark and the light With eyes that see inside you Come down with fire Lift my spirit higher Someone's screaming my name Come and make me holy again I'm the man on the silver mountain I'm the man on the silver mountain Come down with fire Lift my spirit higher Someone's screaming my name Come and make me holy again I'm the man on the silver mountain I'm the man on the silver mountain Just look at me and listen I'm the man, the man, give you my hand Come down with fire Lift your spirit higher I'm the man on the silver mountain I'm the man on the silver mountain I'm the night and the light I'm the black and the white The man on the silver mountain
Im a stage manager from So Cal. Had the privilege of working with Ronnie numerous times. He was one of the nicest coolest and genuinely friendly with fans and crew alike. ROCK IN PEACE BROTHER
If you really think about Ronnie James Dio's career .......It's nothing short of amazing !!!!! The songs he has wrote, The bands he as been involved with!!!!! The music he has been a part of......Unbelievable !!!!!!!!!!!!
He'll always be the man on the silver mountain, on whose summit is the Temple of the King. I have listened his songs since I was a teenager in Cuba, and even in lands of freedom I continue to do so. RIP Ronnie James Dio 🤘
I was on my lunch break at work and I decided to sit in my car listen to the radio and eat my lunch. All of a sudden they announced that Ronnie James Dio had passed away. I just sat there and cried and I thought about the first time I saw him live. It was October 1983 San Antonio, Texas at the Convention Center Arena with special guest Y&T. It was a very sad day for me and when I watch his videos I still get a little choked up
Ronnie’s range is amazing, a true ROCK GOD! I’m a son of Heavy Metal 🤘. I grew up with DIO, Sabbath, Maiden, Ozzy, Metallica, AC/DC, KISS, MEGADETH , Van Halen not Van HAgar... I still don’t drive 55! Long live Metal!
The greatest live version of this great Rainbow tune, IMHO. The late, great RJD (with an awesome band!) slows it down, lets it breathe, and shows off his incredible vocal chops. WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED ?
I’ve actually got some back story to that... Dio used to do this song live as part of a medley with faster tempo and Richie Blackmore asked him to stop. He said play it right or not at all. Saw Dio in Vegas in 2001 and Richie was a guest and they did MOASM and Child In Time, originally sang by Gillan. No other singer on the planet could have pulled that off. Ever since Dio played MOASM in its original form.
Temper Thurman That's cool to know, Im glad Ritchie spoke up ,I personally think a song of that caliber should be played at the tempo it was written, it lets the true character of the riff stand out.
@@neojournalyst - Sorry, not buying it. Rainbow played it at the faster tempo way back in 1976 & 1977 on the Rising and Long Live Rock and Roll tours. Blackmore himself went for the faster tempo. Watch the live videos of Rainbow in the 70's. The song is played at the same tempo Dio played it with in the 80's.
Erik Rupp What Blackmore didn’t like was that the song was reduced to a medley. On Dio’s live album “ Inferno” The song was reduced to a medley. DO told metal edge magazine that Richie Blackmore did not like it. He asked DO to play the song in its entire ready or not at all. Not so much the tempo. Buy it or don’t buy it, who gives a shit? What do you think is meaningless.
Given Ronnie's anger against Catholicism and the time in which he grew up, I can tell from the interview he gave at his house that SOMETHING happened. Remember that he was born in 1942.
that's cool,I was on His concert in Montreal1996,but never forget it...I am maybe one of the few Slovak people who saw Him on live concert,so R.I.P. Ronnie, one of the best voices ever.,I am 55 now,but still have T-shirt with big DIO
I had the pleasure of meeting RJD back stage in 2005-2006? He was the kindest and most humble man I ever met. He gave me a double handed shake and bowed his head and said" Thank you for taking the time to come see me perform". I was blown away!
@@jim73challenger That is AWESOME James! Anything I`ve ever heard about RJD is that he was a very humble man and happy to meet people. The only celeb I`ve ever met is Fritz, the drummer from Helix in the late 80`s. My buddies and I were taking a limo to go see Neil Young at CNE stadium in Toronto from Guelph. Helix`home base was next door in Kitchener and the limo driver was buddies with Fritz. They were going to the Gasworks in T.O. for a concert while we were at the Ex. He was a blast and funny as hell! We all went for a late night dinner at a greasy truck stop in Milton on the way home and he had us in stitches the entire time. He was in his rock star spandex and cowboy boots and one of the guys was egging him on to try and pick up a Canadian Tire employee to join us. He walks over, talks to her, then brings her over to introduce her to the `big time rock band`he manages in the back of the limo. We laughed our asses off at his prank! All that made up for the fact they were an 1.5 hours late picking us up while we waited!
I was wondering who the guitarist was, so I went to this section for an answer. So , Doug Aldridge is he. I didn`t know (still don`t) a thing about him. I assume he is Tommy Aldridge`s brother, they sure look alike. I too love his tone. I didn`t see his rig , just his Strat that he obviously beefed up, by throwing a `bucker in the bridge position. The pickup might be hot, like Duncan Destroyer or a J.B., but who knows? Could be some Gibson P.A.F.. The guy is a pro. with some time under his belt for sure. Great tone , great bends and he has good stage awareness and self confidence. Ronnie Dio knew how to spot talent for damn sure!! Just look at the guys he hired to play with!
They are not related. Doug is a gun for hire. He has played for several different bands. Check out the Dead Daisies. It’s a super group that has rotating players. He was a founding member. They are awesome.
In 1975, I was 23 years old. The day this song got it's first play on WNEW-FM Radio, NYC, I got into my car, drove the the record store, and bought the album. God, I'm so glad I was born in 1952.
Поразительно чистый голос. Он очень хорошо относился, к своим фанатам, также и поклонникам. Светлая память, покойся с миром, уважаемый нами человек. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🌹🌹
From the time I ever heard his first song, until his death, RJD looked 55 years old. That being said, his voice was always priceless, and I will always lament the time I had front row tickets to see Dio at the Pacific Amphitheater, and the show was canceled......
Thank you Doug for playing it at the right tempo!!!! Every single live Blackmore version I've ever seen has been so fast, it ruins the stately vibe of this classic song.
To each their own. My introduction to MOTSM was the live version for Rainbow's Finyl Vinyl. When I heard the original studio version many years later, I found it slow and plodding.
killer band. love dio's rainbow stuff, the "long live rock and roll" album is as good as anything he's done imo. "kill the king" should be considered one of the greatest songs of all time.
