Here we go again! This one moves pretty quick so hold on. The goal of this video is leave you saying, "Yeah, I'm going to try that stencil I thought was too tough for me." If you can get it out of your cutter, you can weed it out...just takes patience and some Doing It!
In this disc dyeing we'll cover a handful of different techniques including super complex stenciling, big fat fades, hot dipping, lotion top coloring, and some other little bit and pieces mixed in. Please, feel free to hit us up if you're left with any questions after watching. We love helping others get started in the disc dyeing game.
We've had a surprising steady number of requests to make some of these discs for other people come in, which it pretty cool and very flattering. Hit us up at differenceisdoingit@gmail.com or on Facebook if you're interested in a custom custom dyed or hand drawn disc, we'll work something out.
As always, if the good times grabbed you hit those Like and Subscribe buttons...maybe even that shiny Bell. We'll keep drumming up more.
Keep Doing It!

You're my favorite person on the internet. I spent 12 hours weeding a stencil dye I did on diamond wizard. Took another 2 to peel on the vinyl off once the hot dip was done. Looks sweet though. Thanks for the inspiration.

Brothaaaa! That thing is absolutely KILLER! wild that your videos got me into doing the most basic dyes and now that I'm more serious about it you're still right here to help. Bought my vinyl cutter about a month ago and can't stop! I was just curious what cutter youre using as well as what vinyl. I've been using 631 with good success leaving little to no residue behind on hot dips.
@mikehosier1239
@mikehosier1239 4 года назад
I'm also curious what vinyl that is. Mine is clear and is that a 3rd layer?

So cool bro! Love hearing that we're still giving a bump deep into your journey. Congrats on the vinyl cutter, it's a major game changer you're gonna love it. The one I'm using now is a Cricut Explore Air 2 love it, but I use to have a Silhouette machine and am familiar with them as well. The vinyl I'm using is Arteza premium glossy white, here's a link to it on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079QFKMWP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I recently switched over to the glossy from the matted. It holds up better on super detailed stencils in the cutter, doesn't rip and peel during the cut as much. Also it's just a bit more stretchy making it easier to wrap around the back of the disc without creating big wrinkles on the front.

Just one layer of vinyl used on this one.

@@TheDifferenceisDoingIt thanks for the reply! Thats a great tip on using glossy vinyl as I've noticed some of my really intricate stencils coming up in the small sections using the matte 631.

Great work! (giving me confidence to try myself) My question is with the second dyeing with the red. Why did you choose to paint on rather than dip? Thanks again for your inspirational and detailed advice.
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt 2 года назад
I could have hot dipped the red as well with this dye and gotten similar results. Reason I didn't was probably more just still learning about hot dipping at that point than anything else. Several different roads leading to Rome though.

Was waiting for this!! Quick question bobby, where did you get that yellow sqeegee scraper for smoothing out your vinyl? Been using a credit card and doesn’t work too great lol
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt 4 года назад
Got that bad boy to replace the credit card myself. It came in a pack of other weeding tools and cutting mats that I got off Amazon. Here's a link to the one I picked up, there were loads of other options though. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0838XQQ88/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Do you have a video that walks through the hand cutting process of stencils?
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt 3 года назад
Hey now Jeff! I don't do a lot of hand cutting, kind of have always sucked at it. I do though go over what little bit I know in the Wolverine Giveaway video when I hand cut the claw marks that go over the disc after the stencil. Hope that helps bud.

I see here that you are using Quick Coat UV Blast. I have a container of Spike-It Dip-N-GLO and it has a tendency to not dry out. If I try to spin with it or paint it on, it will just sit there like a bump in a log. When I come back hours later to wipe it off, it has a tendency to make other colours bleed. So, am I using it incorrectly, or am I just going to have to suck up and figure out when to get Quick Coat?
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt 10 месяцев назад
Sorry this one slipped by me Peter. I haven't tried the Dip-N-Glo, but the Quick Coat UV Blast Clear works great without any of those problems. I'm playing with some new dyes right now that will be hitting the market over the next few months, and there's some more pretty cool clear glow options coming soon.

The knife doesnt leave scratches when you cut right on the disc?
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt 3 года назад
Takes a bit of practice to cut just the vinyl. Making several lighter passes with the blade, as opposed to one or two stronger passes really helps prevent cutting into the disc at all.
@buddharmt
@buddharmt 3 года назад
Do the vinyl cutter cut al the way through the vinyl? Also if doing it by hand I'm afraid to cut through the vinyl backing and loose all my loverly little pieces. Any advice Jedye Master?
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt
@TheDifferenceisDoingIt 3 года назад
The digital cutter has several settings for different materials, even different types and brands of vinyl. After the settings are dialed in right it cuts all the way through the vinyl and not the backing. No chance I could pull off a stencil like this hand cutting, way outside of my league. Dialing in on the right pressure when hand cutting though is just as important as having the right settings on the digital cutter.

You sure as hell can bud! Just not as sure if it will be collected by the vacuum sucker and displayed in the TDIDI Army Disc Dye Gallery on our site. If you're on FB you can always post them to our page, or DM them to me and I can just include them on the site myself.
