Thanks for this! I’ve never had this kind of trouble with an emergency release before! Not only was this not in the owners manual I had the added issue of the metal latch that notches back into the metal carriage getting stuck in its plastic housing! So I COULD NOT pull the release forward and I didn’t know what was going wrong for over an hour! I finally realized it was stuck and actually had to wiggle the heck out of the little metal latch, it finally slipped back through its notch and reengaged. Only after wiggling it did your process work. Thanks again for your video, it helped me identify what was going wrong!

Thanks for the info. Bought my genie 5 years ago and yesterday was the first day I had to use the emergency release. Trouble was it wouldnt re-engage. I didnt know the part that was pulled down to release had to turn 90 degrees to re-engage. Wasnt mentioned in the owners manual.

I have the same issue with the disengage and reengage. it happend right after I used the emergency release. is this common to do after emergency release?

If a person does not know this information about how Garage Doors work, they don't need to have a garage.
