Of course, José was made to be a lady's man. The moment I saw José as a kid in The Three Caballeros, it was love at first sight XD

Thanks for the history lesson! Culture is always better to learn in context. I haven't actually seen this one but Disney with South American flavor has to be good!

I actually did an essay in college about the Good Neighbor policy and Walt Disney. Not only did I get a great grade on it, but I had so much fun studying the research plus the movies! ^_^

This was actually the only Disney animated feature up to Tarzan that I didn't own on VHS as a kid. I remember thinking I'd seen 'em all but then I find out about this movie. Definitely very obscure, but it's still a load of Disney fun.

Yeah, I remember owning/having seen some of the shorts from the compilation films not knowing that they were part of films actually. But I agree, obscure, yet fun!

I love this movie for a lot of different reasons. For one, I thought it was nice to watch a movie that felt more relaxed than the ones before it. I also liked learning more about South America. May I also say that I had an immediate crush on Josè as soon as I saw him? (That's saying something considering I don't like birds very much.)

Haha Jose is quite the charmer; he is a carioca after all. I just like seeing him and Donald interqact

After seeing the documentary Walt and El Groupo - I had to see this - because this is the film they made when they went to Argentina, Brazil, & Chillie. It's especially enjoyable to watch the 2 films back to back. - the watercolor scene was wonderful. I loved it.

This is among the best thing Disney have ever done. To go to a diffrent country and then make those shorts to represent them in a good fully none stereotypical way. South America feels like a second home to Disney. I know Disney made most movies play out in Europe but this and Three Caballeros. They were miracle´s. Comparing this to the recent Rio movies. I have´t seen 2 but the first movie. Cliché story but the representation of Rio was´t that bad.
@JoeTheDisneyGuy
@JoeTheDisneyGuy 10 лет назад
Ahturo s It's funny you bring up Rio because I never thought to compare the two, but you definitely could. What made this and Three Caballeros so impressive though was the time period when they were done, and of course why they were done. This is one of those instances where I feel the movies are good, but the stories behind them are great.

Only discovered this movie yesterday as I'm going through all the classic Disney movies. I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. After seeing "Bambi", which was in my opinion incredibly boring and dull, this was amazing. The bright colours and docu style cought me off guard and surprised me. That song "Brazil" has been in my head ever since I saw it yesterday, and it goes to show you that animated movies are timeless.

Saludos Amigos was interesting to me, but as film it self it's just okay. Watching this movie I felt the documentary side more then the animation side, that's not a bad thing, cuase learning about Brazil and the culture is pretty interesting, and I love the shots that the crew got for South America, this really makes me want to go there, and that's a good sign. My problem with the movie is going back to the documentary thing I mention. Live-action scenes are fine, but some of the shorts so-of takes away that documentary feel, mostly in the second short, which mostly feels like a Thomas the Tank Engine short, if Thomas was a plane. The rest are and fun for the most part, though last short really felt wired to end off. The other problem is that, unlike the last Disney films, this is one is kind of hard to recommend this to a movie goer, especially if they are not a an of Disney, the only people I can recommend this movie to are hard core Disney fans, or documentary fans, but that's just me. I still enjoy for what it is, and now knowing that it did help both North and South America, I can say I respect it for that. Again I find this film okay, but I wouldn't mind seeing it again if I get bore.

I agree that I almost was more interested in the documentary than the movie itself, and yeah, as a whole movie, it is a tough sell to the non-Disney fan, but for what it is and the circumstances under which it was made, I thought that it came out alright

If I wanted to have a favorite project from Saludos Amigos, I suppose it would have been El Gaucho Goofy. The western genre is my favorite movie genre, and although this project specifically took place in Argentina, I was not fooled. I clearly saw a cowboy story in that project. Therefore, I will call El Gaucho Goofy okay. Unfortunately, for the rest of Saludos Amigos, all I can think about is that it's a package film, and not an actual movie. It is also a reminder of what World War 2 did to Walt Disney. Take those two facts into account and it makes me unable to bare Saludos Amigo. I am glad it cemented a friendship between the two Americas, and I can accept Jose Carioca as a common Disney character, but I cannot enjoy actually watching Saludos Amigos.

I am still angry that Disney's workers went on strike. What I would give to work at Disney... (especially when it comes to the movies, hotels, parks, cruise line, etc)

this movie was pretty good, but i felt some of the segments could have been better. i actually kinda like the documentary feel of the in between stuff. Lake Titicaca: 8.5/10 (a little slow at times, but pretty funny) Pedro: 7/10 (quite boring, but not terrible) El Gaucho Goofy: 9/10 (hilarious) Aquarela Do Brasil: 8/10 (really well animated, but not to interesting) overall, i give it a 7.5/10

Honestly as a Disney package film it’s pretty average .For someone who’s coming onto your video for the first time I felt like was allright film but definitely not the best.I’d rate this like a 7.2/10

+Joe The Disney Guy I'm thinking you missed the sarcasm. They would have used a 16mm FILM camera. Video cameras of the day would have been quite unwieldy.
