And to think that this company was always the kindest company around (animation wise...their pretty good). Did something perished in phase 4 or is this just the case of the scrooges?
I sure hope so. After all the dismal Disney days over the last few years, I'm surprised anyone would want to sign on the dotted line with them. Sure, money talks, but why risk getting the Gina Carano or ScarJo treatment?
They got what they could outta Disney so I respect the hustle and talent of the Russo brothers. We all know that Disney is willing to throw anyone under the bus so might as well dip out before you get fucked.
No company is nice not even Paramount or Sony. Fox back in the day were the worst & now it’s mostly Warner Bros because of there treatment over DC fans & Zack Snyder fans.
The Russo Brothers helped make the MCU as great as it was. Civil War, Winter Soldier, Infinity War and Endgame, important movies that they made. Consider the MCU dead at this point.
@@christopherthibeault7502 On a score sheet there are 2 letters W's and L's. Wins and losses. Disney is going to take a massive loss over screwing over Johansson as it is exposing all of their previous cruddy dealings.
nooone seems to remembe anything pre-covid times. the deal between Fox and the Russo Brothers started in 2017, disney bought out fox to trap the russo brothers
Sure, Scarlett already has millions, but if you're going to break contracts and put people on blast, it's going to make you a bad company to work with. Like if you're going to treat super stars like this, then I can't imagine how Disney is going to treat others besides their executives. Unbelievable.
@@Slitheringpeanut I don’t pity Scarlett. Just disgusted with Disney screwing people including the park employees. I’m sure there’s other stuff that hasn’t been brought up to light, but like a serial killer, they’re getting sloppy to the point they’re not even hiding how shady they are now.
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 Oh yeah, I’m well aware. I remember when I was in middle school or high school reading some old article that Disney once sued the pants out of some school because they made a Mickey Mouse mural on their wall. That was my first taste of seeing the dark side of Disney and couldn’t believe it.
I have yet to see a single piece of evidence that Disney did break their contract. If you're going to uncritically believe everything Johansson says, you're going to end up with a lot of nonsense in your head.
Not so long ago, Disney was untouchable. The very idea that any lawyer would agree to willingly confront Disney was absurd. It goes to show just how far Disney has fallen that it was even POSSIBLE for this lawsuit to happen, regardless of whether it wins or loses.
I think a certain bug is what finally crippled Disney (and others) to point that they can't easily blow off a lot of things like they could in the past. They're currently at a weakened state and things are not going to get better for them any time soon. Disney at this point really needed to be kicked in their manhood repeatedly because they need it real badly. They need to be brought low for their own good.
What i don't get is just how public this became in the trades, once this issue was brought up with her, all ScarJo's agent had to do was make one phone call to Disney execs and sort her money out. I mean isn't ScarJo will one of the biggest Agencies in Hollywood Town?? And Disney's arrogance will eventually be their downfall.
@@RaikenXion I assume they tried calling them first. Much like how Disney is trying to get out of paying writers royalties, Disney is making a conscious choice to screw her over. Its not some simple misunderstanding
Censors are like the kind of parents who lie to you as a child. Politicized parents never tell you the truth, despite them saying "It's never OK to lie" when they are lying too. Hypocrisy.
Doubt it. A lot of actors want and still want Disney work and money. Notice how Chris Evans and RDJ are not saying anything. They want to still work with Disney in the future.
Disney sure having a lot of skeletons in their closet lately and now adding another L to their many L's they already have been taking all of 2021. I feel catharsis, to say the least.
Remember when Disney used to be the pioneers of animation and creative innovation? Now, they're the pioneers of live-action remakes, going woke, nickel-and-diming everyone, and sucking up to China.
@@zetamangads: I know people give Iger slack, but honestly I wasn't against his earlier years. But I would definitely say 2012+ was when it started to go downhill.
What can I say? They're China's biggest fans, and their biggest emulators, as of today.........Keen to do everything as cheap as possible while milking everyone out of their hard earned cash.......
This is the time for directors, actors and people working in the business to stand up to the studios now that they are starting to return to the tyrannical theme they once had a century ago.
Exactly, people always talk about the glamour of old golden age Hollywood. But that was almost as big a lie as you could say the fantasy of movies is. Actors were basically indentured servants that had to do what studios told them even when not actively making a movie and could get in trouble working for another studio even if they hadn't had a movie with their original studio in years.
@Gabreya Bradley Yep they took an incredibly talented individual and turned her into a robot replacing switches and knobs with drugs for waking her up and putting her to sleep, at least on Wizard of Oz but I doubt it stopped there.
Yeah sadly the alternative is to be heavy on anti-consumer/fan, use every platform as a soap box and stir drama were ever day go. Be it corrupted studios or deluded elites, in the end we all lose.
The Russo Bros. had announced departure from Disney right after Endgame. They were polite about it, but they nicely mentioned not appreciating the Disney agenda alterations to their movies. They went through the same issues Joss Whedon went through with the first two Avengers movies. Whedon was more loud & less polite about what he went through on a daily basis with Disney.
i like how nooone seems to remembe anything pre-covid times. the deal between Fox and the Russo Brothers started in 2017, disney bought out fox to trap the russo brothers. they dont like woke BS, wintersoldier, civil war, infinity war are all ANTIGOV'T/ANTIWOKE movies. disney made one of the brothers be a gay in endgame, they wont stop until the russo brothers go full trans-russo sisters
@@drakomus7409 Unless they just walk away.........I know that's what I'd do.......Just take the money, run and stay off all social media sites using my official name. If I was asked to do an interview, I'd simply say "I don't do interviews, and even if I did, the only thing you'd get me to say is 'no comment'!"
@@drakomus7409 bro what are you talking about, they bought fox to expand the mcu because Fox owns deadpool and xmen. Im pretty sure Disney doesnt like being woke too much they like playing it safe
@@drakomus7409 that doesnt make sense, infinity war/endgame as in production since 2016 and Russo Bros wanted to finished the Cap Trilogy. Civil War was released in 2016. You’re acting like they had no choice but to make the movies. Marvel couldve hired anyone else
Wait, I thought it was Kevin Feige who was the genius behind the success of the MCU? Is the bloom off the Feige rose? He's still the one in charge of the MCU movies.
I think society likes it and it has its momentum from that. The kids like it, the adults like it, and the fact that apparently everyone likes it means the herd will watch.
The worst part is that they own some of the best IPs in the world. They will always make some money from them, but it will likely be years if ever that true fans will get to enjoy them again. They are slowly ruining everything. Kind of like certain politicians.
Disney breaks contracts like it breaks faith with the fandom. I hope the Russo Bros. are leaving. They should steer clear of what's coming in the MCU Phase Woke.
even among these rich shit heads, the letter of the contract rules everything. As much as I dislike them all, if anyone is overstepping an agreement they should burn for it. I take solace in knowing that both sides will suffer over this.
Do I seriously need to quote Doctor Strange from one particular point of the movie to point out the irony of Disney? (Specifically when Christine points out to Stephen that he is spending money that he does not even have)
people remember how you treated them when you were on top, so prepare yourself to get kicked in the head when you're down and just chalk it up to karma or justice or revenge or whatever, just prepare for that eventuality as all glory is fleeting, all companies fail at some point....
No. They could have won by avoiding the whole problem in the first place. Scarlett Johansson was expecting to renegotiate her contract in light of Disney+. When Disney chose not to is when the Mouse really lost this battle.
It's honestly funny that Disney believes in its "everyone's replaceable" mentality. So many great talented people have left them, and they keep sucking new talent in, only for it to become one with the blob, or to leave as well. I hope this attitude finally kicks them in the ass
I'm fearful for Sam Raimi, he has no idea what he got into when he signed for Doctor Strange 2. On the other hand, if - AND IF - Disney lets him do his job, the movie will undoubtedly be a massive success.
@Comicbookfan2345 Oh they will. Star Wars too. Congress will be taking them away along with everything else Disney bought when they break up the company in the near future. One word: Antitrust.
You also need to remember that these actors have staff, publicists, and many others that they pay. This is why most actors have themselves listed as a company. If they budget x amount of dollars for employees and Disney screws them, that means they either have to lay off people, many of whom are friends, or they can actually lose money on the project.
they picked the right time to bail they saved there reputations from being involced with the MsheU aka woke marvel comics movies which will be TRASH just like the comics that cant sell to the point they reboot them every other week to bait collectors into buying countless new "first editions"
If Disney can afford to give their executives tens of millions of dollars in bonuses then they have enough money to pay their employees and contractors their contracted wages. They just don't want to.
Fun fact, the copyright for Mickey is ending in 2024 and I CANNOT wait to see how Disney tries to extend it again when it's become very public knowledge that they are the reason our copyright laws are so screwed up.
Whats funny is now the only directors that will ever want to be with Disney are low budget, crappy, new directors that no one else will waste time on (or woke directors no one wants). So who knows how bad their movies are gonna get
Public Company - the movie didnt make any money. That "bonus" was both unwarranted and directly payable by every average joe dirt who owns a share. It would be like paying a tax to an elitist multi-millionaire snob for shareholders.
If Disney isn't careful, I can easily see Kevin Feige moving on to some other studio over this lawsuit. I'm fairly sure WB would love to hire him to fix their DCEU. Heck, Paramount and Sega have toyed with the idea of doing a shared cinematic universe with their Sega properties, and who better to handle it than Kevin Feige himself? Or if he simply wishes to do original indie work after he leaves Disney, he can do that too. The possibilities are endless.
@@medikor9190 I'm not advocating for paramount to do a Sega cinematic universe per say. More like I was giving out examples considering if fiege did leave Disney either by quitting or being fired over this lawsuit then you can bet there will be studios after him wanting to pay top dollar for his services
In two moves the MCU is KIA, Disney should be known as franchise killers. The dumb part is the execs don't understand why. I guess the think the honor of working for Disney is payment enough.
This is a larger campaign to get Bob Chapek out. They replied with the callous disregard for the internet meaning ....Chapek wants to end the guaranteed contracts for films that underperform. He is on the side of the shareholders. Russo Bros. Simu Liu Johansson lawsuit were the first salvos in that attack. Feige is circling the wagons.
How do you have the highest grossing movie of all time, plus a couple in the top ten, and NOT lock the Russo brothers into a multiple film deal? Endgame was two years ago and you never made a deal? Fail.
“They are afraid to come out and pack her up because they are afraid they will get in trouble too… “. Yeah, because the courts need to be going for extreme punitive damages for breaking these kind of giant contracts. Without punitive damages, no actor is going to go after a studio that stands to make them hundreds of millions in the future for only 20 million right now. Disney is not being punished punitively for what they are doing and that is the problem
I'm glad some professionals are pointing at the stink that is disney, frankly I haven't consciously given them a cent since the Indiana Jones ride opened. I hear some people say "I go for the Magic" but the magic's been gone for decades and the quality of the movies has consistently dropped, now that wokeness oozes out of every crevice I find them intolerable. However I do love watching you two report on them, I realize your family still loves disney and reporting things like you do must be painful at times.
Thats a bummer they are awesome directors and were able to bring bunch of characters without making the movies feel compact. They were excited to probably work on Secret Wars. Disney needs to improve.
Marvel has basically reached the end of the line with, well, End Game. It's better for creative types to go after new non-woke intellectual properties such as manga, Berzerker and the like. Don't try and arrange deckchairs on the Titanic, take a lifeboat.
Regardless of how ScarJos lawsuit turns out, this is going to be a permanent stain on Disney's reputation that other actors/directors/producers/etc are going to look at and say "pass".
Secret Wars would be a long a way away but if they would they'd probably have to come on as producers/writers for many of the big tent pole movies that would lead up to it to ensure their vision comes fruition as they see it. Bringing them on now would make the final product much smoother
It boils down to whether there really was an exclusive theater release in her contract, or if it was only for a wide release, which is commonly misunderstood to mean exclusive, when it doesn't.
Kazuma: "I yearn for true male-and-female equality (男女平等). I have no patience for one who talks about female privilege when it suits them, and then complains about someone 'not being a man' when it's convenient. I'm an advocate of true male-and-female equality, a guy who has no problem doling out a drop kick to a female opponent. Just so you know, I'm not the type to go for clichés. Say, for instance, you're in love with me, and some other girl was making moves on me. If you were to, out of jealousy, inflict some unjust violence on me, I would fight back with no hesitation. I'm a guy who does what he has to do. You'd do well to remember that." Touma (Railgun series), and Sakuta (Bunny Girl Senpai) are also great male-and-female equality advocates, even the women agree too.
Well, Kazuma only wants "gender equality" when it suits him. Since his teammates are women, it's easy for him to take advantage. He actually hasn't done anything he preaches. Touma only hits women when they're about to kill someone, other than that he's very respectful. Sakuta just pretends not to care when he actually cares a lot.
