Just a quick question; it could look like a design where the pieces could fall out of their small compartments if the bag was shook, and then rattle about? Also, why not make a compartment on the backside for the board? Sorry if it’s been asked before.😅
The window is a great idea. If you have multiple nice wood piece sets, the window allows you to quickly see which pieces are in the case. You may want to consider a small sleeve that runs along the side so that one could slip a business card or tag or other identifier in the sleeve.
Thanks for the video. This design is all about looks. It might be useful if you can't remember which sets you have, but visibility is compromising the padding. If you want to store pieces not in a box - because you fear damage from piece to piece or box wall interaction - then you have to be prepared to spend the time putting pieces into specific slots. If I do that I'm concerned about safety more than looks. I would prefer a portable solution that focuses on that. Having said that, I have not handled the design, so perhaps the visual capability is not compromising piece safety too much. I don't think it is worth mentioning the extra queens though, as traditional wooden sets often did not have two queens and anyway only one is visible through the vision panel.
David, thanks for the comment. It's worth mentioning that the cover has padding as well so the design is intended to bring safety to the pieces while allowing the pieces to be partially visible and highlighting two of the most interesting pieces. Extra queens has become the norm in the last decade. Rarely does a set come without them now. Safety is the primary concern here and it does a very good job of that in my view. I would have no concerns lifting it and knowing the pieces will stay securely in place. For those who own a few chess sets this is a nice way to see what's inside each storage.
I like the design. However what would make it even better. Is the ability to store also a chessboard. I have a borderless 18 inch chessboard. If you could make it to fit that maybe on the back side. It would be an ultimate chess storage case. I find that a case that size just for storage is too big. When I can simply get a Plano Stoaway takle container for under $5 at my local Walmart. I like the concept but needs to be able to store a chessboard as well before I would consider purchasing it.
