Just left the simulator this morning and the full swing method taught here produced the best wedge shots I’ve felt. Now my short game, pitch shot technique and the difference makes perfect sense. Great instruction!!!!!!
Amazing response to my question yesterday re tissue load in chip swing sequence ! Your instruction is ground breaking and making me 100% rethink my swing .
Amazing video guys! I tried it in my round today and this techniques works for every swing, including a punch out from the woods! Can't wait to see how low I can go this season.
I actually tried this technique with my full iron swing , and hit it amazingly smooth ...always told don't drag front arm...but this helps me full swing too ....😊
And, the ball flight is very similar to my full shots, alot "flatter". I have a tendency to balloon my wedges costing me unnecessary strokes. Can't wait to put in play
I really enjoy your videos can you tell me what the difference between this video and wedge mechanics could I use techniques from either video for like a 10 yd pitch shot
Face square on these shots? You mentioned bunker is similar. I opened the face ten degrees and tried it in wet sand and came out on line. Love your vids
Awesome distinction between full technique and distance wedges technique. What is the path and face to path of wedges as you move up say from 15y high and neutral to 85y neutral? Is it always out to in path for spinners and in to out for chasers? Also how does path match up with release, like low hands, high, radial or more ulnar through the hit? Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Great question! Can absolutely hit spinners with either path however there are levels to it. A lot of draw spinners that we see are due to left path with lie angle (D plane) that may be slightly upright. That is due to handle low through the strike. We prefer a very neutral set up and move through the strike to begin and then adjust set up principles to adjust ball flight… for the most part 😉
Thanks for this eye opening video. The depth of understanding the wedge swing in contrast to the full swing is amazing. I often had heard that better golfers prefer loew aunching spinner with a draw also for shorter wedge shots. Would this be in your EGS a soft full swing with forward rib sway and faster rotation without this ulneral component in the release ? Or is this a quite different shot ?
@@Schnoberich so sorry man I want to make sure I’m answering this question correctly and I’m not quite understanding what you’re asking. Can you ask that in a different way please?
No problem, I try to explain it. Tour players obviously prefer low lainching and high spinning wedge shots.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IoA_htzuAg4.htmlsi=d2Hs6ksutJsf-BPA ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6LSrGBjAJyY.htmlsi=u77I8SlCAgIW_PR2 @@elitegolfschools As I understand these type of shot can be played with an in to out path, (shallowing) which results in a kind of draw. My question is how You would recommend to play this shot in the Elite Golf Sytem, because You or Riley have often new and interesting approaches. If You teach this shot, I would appreciate to know how. I hope this os clearer now.
This is the best one, which is very convincing because Zach Johnson uses the type of shot, Mike Bender is connected to Zach Johnson, which You surely know. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q7p1t85Zvvk.htmlsi=b-6BEKPFEyEpTXMz
So good. Hey but this is very different than the pitching video yall did almost a year ago. Is this just an alternate approach to that ? (Talking about toe down etc)
@@krispy16034 the video you’re referring to is for shots that need little speed right around the perimeter of the green. This is for shots that need a certain amount of speed but not full… hence the name distance wedges (intermediate shots)
For us with little touch 😂 Going the Dan Grieve way of shorter grip/tighter stance and having 3 of those, low/mid/high worka pretty nice to work up some feel of distances. This also feels a lot like his release 2 pattern, or am I wrong here? 🙂
Love this map for distance wedges. Was a little surprised to hear you say it was the same for bunker shots ... radial unhinge makes sense, but would you want to shift the ribs / low point forward in the same way given it isn't a ball-first strike?
@@ryanschmidt4351 yes as a matter of face. I Ben though we’re entering the sand before the ball, the low point is still in front of ball in bunker play
@@elitegolfschools Just watched it! Appreciate it, seems like the more fuller swing there's more of that rib elbow action from that video. It's starting to make a lot of sense but this video specifically helped a ton not only with the wedge but the over all swing thought 🤌🏾
@@elitegolfschools Will do! It's been a long time of over the top and early extending so it's been a brain scramble trying to move my body in faster speeds the right way. But seeing the club under that shoulder on the way down even just a little bit is so gratifying! Thank you 🙏🏾
This shank makes TJ very likable.I often fight with shanks. One reason I found out that I have not enough patience with this early release (ulneral phase). TJ, do You have a tip to get this early releaseproperly done at the right time ?@@elitegolfschools
Boys I need your help here. I just watched this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2CwizITuaHk.html. Where Alex and Riley talk about distance wedges, rhythm and speed of the chest being slow and the most important thing I got from that video other than that was holding the MASSIVE hinge in the wrists while motoring the entire complex without changing the angle of the wrists. (Look at that video at 6 min exactly.) In this video it's almost the exact opposite. When I got on the range and started to feel this video (i started practicing this method first) The radial load and ulner unload seems like it's happening wayyy before I hit the bottom out as I'm moving my chest up and away. This seems like the exact opposite of the Alex video. What do I do? Which one do I practice?
@@Zach_Routhier great question!! They are very different systems no doubt.. The Alex and Riley video is a Lee Trevino type distance wedge action and can definitely be applied. It will produce a low launch high spin shot compared to the video discussed here. This video that resembles Homa, J Day, Sricker will produce a mid flight, mid spin shot. Just spectrums of movement/technique. We just finished filming our short game masterclass that will go into great detail on this if you are interested. Should be launching within the month 🙏🙏
@@elitegolfschools incredible. Thanks. I can hit this shot now after practicing it for a couple weeks and getting over the fear of the early ulnar release. Now I want that low dart that sticks! Thanks for everything you guys do!
