Great video. I was messing around with toe down chips for quite some time now with great success because it almost guarantees relatively good contact. This video has helped with some set up issues, especially the grip. I’m in the market for whole new set of wedges so would you recommend full face wedges, which seem to be pretty popular now?
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools 6 месяцев назад
Definitely don’t need full grove on wedges and truly we don’t prefer the ball being struck so far out on the tow that you’re flirting with missing groves. Love that for down stuff for sure!! Makes life easy 😃

Awesome video gents can’t wait to try this out! Would any of these concepts like toe down or grip changes easily translate or be applicable to under 100 yard 1/2 or 3/4 wedge shots? I watched your other video on driver versus wedge but the turn interaction part of this got me wondering.
@elitegolfschools
@elitegolfschools 9 месяцев назад
I’d say this is mostly applicable inside 30-40 yards. As more energy is required, we start needing more leverage, accomplished through a grip more in the fingers

Very Interesting. The energy in energy out point in regards to distance control, is in my opinion, also the absolute key to putting. The human brain is really good at measuring distance, and if you load a system, all that’s needed is to let that energy go. Once acceleration gets involved, shit goes haywire. Understanding this one thing, transformed me from a terrible putter to one of the best in the city. It’s almost feels like magic. Just look at the target, think how far back, then stop and let it go. But it requires significant trust, once you get that though, all putting issues solved.

Great lesson! Love the full explanation of why we should be toe down, rather than, "set up with the toe down!" If the toe up, heel down "spooning" issue is detrimental to a pitch, why isn't it on a bunker shot where everyone tells you widen the stance, hands lower and get closer to the ball effectively puts the spoon right on the ball?

I tried this on the lawn and it worked well!.. It looks like in this video you're roughly 20 yards from the pin. Would you recommend this method (shaft in the lifeline and toe bias) for longer shots, say 50-60 yards out? Or, put another way, at what distance would you start thinking about a more conventional grip and set-up? This might vary from player to player but a rough idea... Thanks!

What does the transition between finesse wedge and distance wedge look like, or do you use this technique to as far out as it will work and then simply transition to dialed back full swing mechanics to close the distance gap between max finesse wedge and distance wedges yardages? Thanks for this info, btw. Really, really helpful. Thanks!
