Multiband saturation and distortion, it's all included in the new Ableton Live 12 native plugin called Roar. It's similar to Izotope's Trash, Output Arcade's Thermal, but it's native to Live 12 and it's very very powerful. Let's play around!

ROAR INCLUDES ASYMMETRIC SATURATION FINALLY . Either by using Tube preAmp or by tweaking Bias. I was wainting for a saturation for EVEN harmonics for so long !!!

I am not a distortion afficionado, so I was wonderfully amazed by the results you showed when doing mid/side distortion (especially in the sides). That really opened up the stereo image.

I end up putting Roar on everything. Maybe too much... but it's so versatile and can add so much movement and texture. Check out the built-in mod matrix, it adds a whole other dimension to the possibilities.

So the real question seems to be: Given much of what is in v12 is clearly aimed at selling Live to people who have no conception of how to make music (apologies, but it is), are some of the new tools like Roar sufficiently excellent to make it worth the upgrade to those of us who have been using it since version 3 or so? Or should we wait & see if 12.1 or 13.0 actually have really useful things like native ATMOS support?

kinda sad that these new features like roar and meld are only in Ableton Suite... :/ I still downloaded shit ton of free packs and I got more instruments then I ever had nowdays, but still... these are the only features that made me excited and I dont have access :( I NEEED THIS SO BAAD, I am using classic distort to do such soundesign but its tidious. Any cheap, ideally free alternatives?

I would prefer Ableton to fix their bugs , especially the one that prevent Program Change signal to be send to a VST3 than them attempting another cash grab with useless stuff or stuff that should be added in an update. Ableton is so greedy and incompetent.
