Getting ready to throw power (14-2 romex) from thermostat location to dedicated 15 amp home run at circuit breaker... It's only a 50sq ft. area that we are heating right inside the back entrance to the house. Not sure if we are getting the programmable thermostat or just the regular non programmable one.. Your video had given us a good heads up on what to expect as far as installation.. Thanks and wish me luck..👍👍

Have had Schluter floor since 2018 and in 11/23, the floor keeps calling for heat all the time. Schluter recommend replace thermostat, which did. The Schluter field rep came out. All cables checked correct. He said heating cables on part of floor to far apart. I asked why took so long to not work and had no answer. Really don’t want to replace floor, but not sure what to do

I agree replacing the floor is a costly proposition. Did you do this floor heat install yourself or did you have a professional complete the job? Can you confirm or verify the heating cables are too far apart? This could definitely cause the system to call for heat more often to try and keep up with the dissipating heat in the floor. But as you say, this would have been the case from the start. Unless you hadn't notice this until now. What prompted you to notice this? higher than normal utility bills? or just the thermostats energy consumption stats showing a rise in energy usage? So you have replaced the Thermostat, did you also try changing to the backup temperature sensor cable? There should be at least two temperature sensor cables run during the installation, the main and a backup. Maybe the main sensor went bad. Is the floor getting warm? If the floor is warm, then heat cables are doing their job. You have already eliminated the thermostat as a possible issue. So it is either the temperature sensor cable or the heat cables are spread too far apart near where the temperature sensors are taking their readings from. This is my best guess, sorry I can't be of more help.

Yes, Schluter rep swapped out sensor and know different. The area we were heating was 54 sf but in reviewing contracts purchase document show 51 sf kit DHE HK 120 51. We have had no more use of electricity. I only noticed when was cold and turned floor up and would keep calling. My electrician said cable was wrapped every 3 row and then went to 4 towards end. Appreciate you info.

Is it possible to have 1 thermostat control 2 separate locations of radiant heat...i doubt if that's possible but didn't know for sure... Thanks everyone in advance👍

Thanks for the question, the thermostat load should not exceed 15A since it has built in GFCI interrupt circuit. And the cold leads can be extended based on the installation instructions. So it appears it is possible but, I would definitely consult with Schluter and an Electrician make sure you are following appropriate codes in your area if you plan to extend your cold leads. Hope this helps. This is taken directly from the Schluter installation manual for the thermostat: "Two DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cables can be connected and controlled by a single DITRA-HEAT-E-RT thermostat if the total current is less than 15 amps. The heating cable leads must be wired in parallel according to applicable electrical and building codes. Multiple DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cables over 15 amps cannot be connected to a single DITRA-HEAT-E-RT thermostat. Additional DITRA-HEAT-E-RT thermostats must be used or the DITRA-HEAT-E-RT thermostat may be combined with the DITRA-HEAT-E-RR power modules." cable system manual: "Extending the heating cable cold lead The cold lead is made up of two 14 AWG conductors with a copper braided shield, that is used as the grounding conductor. The extension must be made with building wire that is suitable for this application and complies with applicable building and electrical codes. The cold lead itself is not made of building wire and therefore cannot pass through studs unless run through a conduit. Extension of the cold lead requires the addition of a “code compliant” junction box that must be accessible at all times. The maximum length for extending the cold lead is dependent upon the gauge and rating of the extension cable used. Consult with a qualified person to discuss the needs of your specific application. Extending the floor temperature sensor The floor temperature sensor can be extended using a 22 AWG, 2-wire cable. For installation of sensor extension wire without conduit, see page 24 for requirements. We recommend twisting and soldering the wires and using electrical tape to insulate them. Schluter Systems does not limit the length of the extension; however, the longer the extension, the greater the possibility that the quality of the signal (and resulting temperature sensing) will be skewed. Regardless of the method used, the resulting splice must comply with applicable building and electrical codes. A loose connection between the extension and the sensor will result in a false reading or an error code."

where can I have get the sensor wires ???

Thanks for the question, the sensor wire comes in the box included with the thermostat. If you need another wire, I am sure you could contact Schluter directly for another sensor wire.
