This is a DIY replacement of the Diverter Valve on the Passat B5 B5.5 1.8T engines. the valve is located on the passenger (right) side, underneath the turbo. it's accessible from under the car with belly pan removed.
ayberk vergul it will often make chirping sounds to the turbo if you have a turbo. otherwise it often causes the check engine light to come on. you can also check it by detaching your dv and see if it holds any vacuum. If it doesnt well then its time to switch
I had someone change my timing belt, VC gasket, water pump, belta, etc... Every since getting my car back I am having a problem where my car seems to have no power at low rpm but suddenly it is like a kick in the butt and it will get away from you. Someone told me that because the mechanic removed the whole front end including radiator etc that could be the problem is he did not reconnect the diverter valve or a vacuum line back properly. Do you think this could be the issue? My car RPMs lychee and bounce up almost rhythmically when trying to accelerate and I'm having almost no "power" at lower speeds..... 2001.5 Passat 1.8T AWM
I totaled my Passat in September 2015. Hit telephone pole just off-center from straight head-on. Airbags did not deploy. I was going around 35 MPH. (Was not my fault and I'm now in litigation with an attorney I hired for it.... waiting to settle). I fractured c5 & t4... whiplash... concussion... tore acl in left knee. NOT FUN.
hey do you know the size of that little hose? I have to change it and I can't find it online. I want to use a silicone one as opposed to the ratty braided one
Where on the intake manifold does the other end of the tube go? I've been desperately searching the entire internet with no answer. Mine got detached somehow...

The other end goes to the N249 valve. I know i'm late, but hopefully it will help others.
hi, in my case, i did. the old one was broken with a cracked diaphragm, so the valve doesn't open when i let off the throttle. making the whoosh.sssshhh.ssshh.ssh.sh sound. the new one, works as designed, vents the extra pressure back to the intake side of the turbo. :)
