In this video I will be making a 1/16 scale bathtub. I will be using cardstock, Elmers Glue All, paint and chalk pastels. This tub is for my Old West Hotel. I will show a variation ( not a tutorial) of this tub in the video that is in one of my non western dollhouses. By just leaving the wood planks off you could create this for your dollhouses too.
Buy me a smoothie www.buymeacoffee.com/tinyview
Cut from heavy cardstock or food packaging:
Tub front and Back - 1 3/8 H x 3 1/8 W
Tub sides - 1 3/8 H x 1 1/2 W
Tub corners - 1 3/8 H x ( top - 1/2 W , bottom - 3/8 W)
Cut from regular cardstock:
Tub corner - 1 3/8 H x 3/4 W

You just amaze me with the things you make with just a little paper, glue and paint. I would love for you to link the products you use, so we can find them easier, thank you. You make some really beautiful pieces.🌻

Thank you! I love to challenge myself to make things as inexpensively as I can. I was going to use Amazon affiliate but I don’t have a big enough audience yet. I will try to add more links in the future. Is there anything you have in mind specifically that I can try to link for you until then?

You are such a wizard working your magic yet again to make card-stock totally look like wood. I love the two totally different styles created from the same techniques. Thank you xx❤❤

Thank you Wendy! 🥰 I never thought when I created that tub the first time, that I would make a rustic version. It was a lot of fun trying to make it look that rustic like a barrel.

This is so cute!! It really does resemble a tub you might see in an old west setting. I've seen tubs that were used in different eras of history and lemme tell ya I think the smallest tub I've ever seen is a slipper tub common in the orient during dynasty rule. As the name suggests, it has the higher back and lower front similar to a slipper. However! The tub is so tiny, and really meant for small, petite women, that the person has to sit with their knees pulled to their chest!! 😱 It's only about 24 inches in length and about 18 inches wide. That's about the size as my cutting mat! There's no way, and I mean absolutely NO WAY anyone bigger than a 12 year old girl is getting in that tub! Maybe their feet, but definitely not any other parts of their body! I often hear you mention your silhouette cameo cutting machine and I wanted to ask you how easy it is to use or if there was anything you wished you'd had known before starting to use it? I bought myself one for Christmas and I have yet to open, set up, and learn to use it. It's the current model and it was purchased new from Michael's. I believe I remember hearing Ara mention she started out with a silhouette several years ago, but beyond the two of you I've not heard of anyone else having or using it. I hear "Cricut" all the time and there are tons of reviews and opinions, both positive and negative. Is there anything you could share that you feel would be beneficial and helpful for someone just starting out?

@Lauras-tinyview 9 дней назад
Wow that is definitely a small tub! Yes, I think that’s the size of my cutting mat also. I don’t see how you could clean yourself very well being crammed in that small space like that. I was originally going to purchase a Cricut. I used to have a couple of them several years ago when you still had to use the cartridges with them. I also felt very limited by that. The reason I didn’t buy a Cricut was to many bad reviews. Especially about the membership. Sounded like you had to pay to use your machine. I had never heard of making miniatures with a cutting machine until someone on instagram asked me if I used one to make my 1/6 scale furniture. I have a lot of issues with my shoulder and neck and almost had to give up miniatures altogether. Then I thought I would try a cutting machine. What did I have to lose. I looked at several videos on RU-vid about just basic stuff before I used mine. I had already been making a few 1/6 patterns by hand. So I was trying to figure out how to convert them to 1/16 but that seemed more confusing to me than just start making 1/16 patterns. I usually draw up my patterns on graph paper then I create the pieces in silhouette studio. I have had mine for a little over three years and I still don’t know everything about it. Probably haven’t even scratched the surface. My advice is just get brave and start using it after watching some videos that discuss the basics. I am constantly learning something every time I use it. I’ve also noticed that I spend less time now trying to figure out how to make it do what I want. 😆 So you don’t have to wait till you learn everything first. As you go along if there is something specific that you want to try or learn just search RU-vid.

@@Lauras-tinyview I agree with you! Taking a bath would be one thing, but actually scrubbing and being clean is another discussion all together LOL 🤣!! I had heard some of the same issues you spoke of concerning the Cricut. I was interested in getting one, but I didn't want to pay to use it after I bought it. I figured if I spent all that money to own it, well...then, I should be able to do whatever I chose🤷‍♀️. I have problems with my hands and shoulders too, having spent decades in the hospitality industry and sewing. You wouldn't think sewing would be so damaging to the body, but it really did a number on me and cutting the minis by hand has gotten more difficult. Thanks for suggesting RU-vid 😍 as a learning tool. I feel ridiculous for never even thinking about the obvious 🙄🤦‍♀️😕 LOL 😂 sometimes I really shock myself with my "barely there" level of seeing it though. I really enjoyed the tub build and I really look forward to seeing your videos every week! I have them saved in my playlist so I have them quickly accessible if needed. The videos are really, really good!! They're informative without being dry and boring, and they have a nice pace to them...not too fast and not too slow. You're doing a great job and keep 'em coming!!

@@MimmiesMinis-KellyPenny I know exactly where you’re coming from with how sewing can take a toll on you. I used to work in an embroidery shop for years with a 6 head machine. All of the hooping and un-hooping over and over I think is what did my neck and shoulder in. I agree if you buy the Cricut you should be able to cut all you want when you want. And it sounds like that is still a big issue. From what I remember silhouette studio has different levels to it. It’s been awhile since I set it up. If I remember correctly you can pay a one time fee for one of three different upgrade editions. I did the designer edition because one of the things it allows you to import svg’s. Which at the time I thought I would use more than I really do. I may upgrade at some point to the business edition just because I have the RU-vid channel and may sell and give for free some designs. Don’t feel bad I will sometimes spend hours even days trying to figure something out in the studio. Then I remember hey go to RU-vid maybe someone has a tutorial about it. The tutorials I watch have nothing to do with miniatures but are super helpful showing and explaining a function or method that’s new to me. You will fall in love with your Cameo!! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tub build. Thank you for the feedback about my videos. I appreciate it. It’s very helpful to me.
