It looks like you bought a bunch of expensive material from a hobby store, but you made all of this with paper and pet store supplies 😆 I love it!

This turned out fantastic! I think the reptile sand worked well and your little bushes are amazing! I learn so much every time I watch your channel, thank you! And, you are right, it is your project and you can do whatever you want to. I think that is the problem with working with kits, they show you how they do it and give you all the stuff and I think sometimes people feel they have to do it that way. It is so much more satisfying to add your own unique touches to your projects.

I have bought kits and always end up either doing them completely differently or using the components to make things (not always the things they were designed as) for my 1:18th scale scenes.

My Farmhouse dollhouse needs a new foundation, since it was a curb rescue. I am so glad you gave this tutorial! It gives me the idea of what needs to be done. Thank you! Next time, I go to my local pet shop, I am definitely going to look around, instead grabbing the food and leaving quickly. LOL Those are wonderful scenery tips. 😊

Thank you Laura😊Warping can be so disappointing when one has spent so much effort creating a piece. Adding the struts to the base is a great idea to give it height as well as strength, way to go! BTW thank you for showing us the rope plants, as it is a dry summer here (down under) it is exactly what I can see out of my window. Our shire is called Golden Plains for that reason.

I am inspired by this. The masking tape was a good choice, to see how you shaped it after taping looks so much easier than trying to mess with the tin foil exposed. Your aged wood is so authentic, it shows that you've really thought this out. The base of this house is just what I was looking for. I am planning to build a Western Saloon, bigger build than I've done before, and rehearsed in my mind so many times. My worry is, by the time you have the wood base, it's already too heavy to manage. This type of base solves 5 things: 1. Saves hours to build. 2. Weight reduction. 3. Looks sturdy enough to me. 4. Most tools needed you already may own, or can improvise. 5. Easy on the pocketbook/an endless supply of building supplies. I just thought of another one. 6. We have a wonderful group of talented people who share their knowledge with us. Many of us would have only dreamed of this hobby, it was the internet that helped us grow. Knowledge is Power.

I am thrilled that I may have helped you with your Foundation/base issue. I know its been a big help for me. I cant cut wood in my apartment with power tools. 😂 I work in 1:16 scale. My structures are constructed out of foam board.The base feels very strong to me (almost like wood) and Ive never had any problems. Is your structure out of wood? If so you may want to add more support strips inside the base. Maybe even make a smaller trial piece to experiment with by placing weights on it if your structure is a larger scale or made from wood. Love the list of 6!! Especially #6. I'm so thankful for the internet too. So many helpful generous miniaturist sharing their knowledge.Knowledge is power!! 💚

👍I love the final results..It turned out beautifully!!! Just a quick tip...I've been buying big bags of sand, called "playsand", at my hardware store for craft projects, so there's no need to touch up with extra colour, it and it's much cheaper to buy it this way. 💙....love your work, and am looking forward to the next video.

You did an incredible job!! It looks very realistic. I too use reptile sand for scenery on my husband's model railroad. To fix it in place I first make a "wet" water (water, isopropyl alcohol and a drop of dish soap) then permanently fix it with a glue/water mixture. It doesn't move when dry. I love the idea of making colored foam (thank you). Purchasing ready made gets way too expensive and you don't have the joy of creating.😊
@Lauras-tinyview
@Lauras-tinyview 6 месяцев назад
Thank you! I love the joy of creating probably more than completing the project. 😆 Thank you for the wet water tip. When do I apply it? Should I glue everything down first then apply it. Or only at the end? Much appreciated!
@kathleenherris9397
@kathleenherris9397 6 месяцев назад
You can lay the sand down then dribble the wet water over it (it breaks the surface tension) and then apply the glue/water mixture.@@Lauras-tinyview

It looks amazing! And even better you gave me ideas that will help me problem solve making a base for my dollshouse! When you mentioned honeycomb cardboard, I remembered in my hoarded stash there are some large pieces of honeycomb cardboard of varying thicknesses but I didnt know what to do with them yet. They would be perfect for the base! Thank you so much for the inspiration. It's incredible how one casual mention of something can trigger inspiration in someone else! Keep up the great work, I am really loving watching your projects progress

Thank you! I am so glad and love to hear that it is helpful. I know some of the topics of my videos may be boring and not for everyone,but that’s okay. It a learning experience for me and my viewers if they want to learn. I think it’s so cool you have some of that honeycomb cardboard and knew what I was talking about. It’s super strong. One day I was thinking what could I do with this weird ugly stuff. 🤪😆 So I started to use it this way and ran out and the rest is history. 😂😂 Thanks for sharing that with me! I just noticed you have a channel and subscribed.

A well reasoned and clearly explained tutorial, as always. I like the forethought in painting the area between the footing and the porch boards - I was caught out on a similar detail early on. My eye can never go by it … 8-[ Re plants: There is an Australian crafter who has worked with twine for plants. She also used paint brush bristles (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YAFx1de2FmQ.htmlsi=je-gYjVpKankx-Z9) to make attractive flowering grasses. The glitter comment made us laugh. When our granddaughter went through her glitter craft phase, even the cat would have sparkly bits the next day or so. Thank you so much for having us along on this adventure.
