This weeks DIY is a knit wrap dress. I‘ll explain the pattern construction process in detail and sew the piece with you step by step.
The fabric is a synthetic knit that has a ribbed texture to resemble the hand-knitted dress on the inspiration picture. I used 2.5 meters.
I drafted the bodice slopers with the help of a tutorial. Learn how draft your own bodice block with this blog post by In the Folds: inthefolds.com... (unsponsored, it's just a really great tutorial).

Beautiful dress! Interesting way of using bias tape, but the outcome was very good. I open up the tape and sew along the seam then fold in towards the back and attach the other side. I have a similar fabric in my stash,I might make this dress today! Well done.

Please recreate the Rouge Gavin dress. It’s similar to this but with a more summery look. Please! 😊💐

I am working on a new sewing pattern at the moment which, visually, falls into that ballpark. There's a design vlog up right now where you can follow along if you're interested ☺️ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qjVY3fEQRn0.html

It turned out so nice! Really want to make this now, I have a thin Jersey in my stash but it might not be sturdy enough to look nice 🤔
@ThrillsandStitches
@ThrillsandStitches 2 года назад
It depends on what you want it to look like! Jersey will definitely work for a wrap dress but it’ll be a different feel than this very structured one ☺️

Did you keep the same measurements from the bodice block even though the fabric is stretchy? Thanks for the video! 😊
@ThrillsandStitches
@ThrillsandStitches Год назад
Hi! If I remember correctly (it’s been a while!) I kept the measurements the same. But there’s always some tweaks during the fitting process, so it’s possible I took in the sides at some point! Hope this helps :)

Thank you! You attach one strap at the end of the side that wraps under and one at the end of the side that wraps over. You fiddle one through a hole you leave in the waist on the opposite side seam (which side is up to you) This way you can tie it together. Hope that makes sense!

Hey hey! Wondering what brand and name of this fabric is? I wonder if they sell in the US??
@ThrillsandStitches
@ThrillsandStitches 2 года назад
I bought this in a small shop in London, unfortunately the fabric didn’t come with a name/brand on it so I‘m afraid I can’t help! I‘m sure you’ll find something similar 🙏

@@ThrillsandStitches bummer. Is it a double knit? Seems like it’s pretty stable…and it’s ribbed on one side only or both? I’m sure I could find something similar
@ThrillsandStitches
@ThrillsandStitches 2 года назад
@@SouthernMims it’s ribbed on one side only and stretches in the perpendicular direction to the ribs, which is funny! It’s pretty stable but still soft. I feel like I‘ve seen sports hoodies in a similar fabric before.

Did you create a whole in the side seam of the bodice to put through the underlying strap?
@ThrillsandStitches
@ThrillsandStitches Год назад
Yes! I think if I remember correctly I created a rectangular button hole with the side seam in the center to give it more support - at least it’s what I think I did, and it sounds like a good idea.
