One of 2023’s summer projects was making these beautiful planter boxes for our backyard makeover! Full video of that transformation coming SOON! We are no DIY experts, so we hope this encourages you that you can make these yourself too! Details below!!
All the materials included, we spent roughly $150 per garden bed. These are heavy duty & took us amateurs about 6 hours per box to build! All the wood we used was pressure treated (to prevent rotting). If you plan on planting edible plants in your garden boxes, we recommend using untreated lumber as it does not have chemicals that will seep into the soil.
WHAT WE PURCHASED (Our garden beds measured 24”X48”X24”)
- One sheet of pressure treated plywood.
- 2x4’s - We used 5, 10-foot boards.
- 2x6’s - We used 2, 14-foot boards.
- PVC/composite molding - We used 4, 12-foot pieces.
- Deck boards - We used ~30 feet.
- Screws (We used 3 inch for the major joints, and 1 ½ for the deck boards).
- Plastic Wood (to fill nail holes)
TOOLS WE USED:
- Sawzall
- Chopsaw
- Circular saw
