Updates:
I tested how long the lights will work on a fully charged battery pack. They stayed on for 56 hours and the Omars batters only take about 4 hours to charge back up to full capacity.
I started super gluing the LED lights down. I had the lights lift around the circle and rise 1/16 above the cured resin and required a 2nd pour to cover the lights. Super gluing the lights down will prevent them from lifting during resin pour and curing.

Love the engineering that went into these boards! I am wanting to build a set of these for my wife. I am trying to get the materials together and noticed that the led strip is not found at amazon. Do you have a brand that you use? What about length? Thanks in advance.

I used Govee 6.56ft led lights app controlled with music sync for the boards in this video. I also use 16.4ft led lights amzn.to/3evBS8X if you want the lights to have the V leading to the hole plus lights around the edge of the deck. these led lights can also be cut to length but you need to cut them on the cut here marks. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Willow, thank you so much for such an informative instructional video. Just finished a set for my son's birthday this month. I researched the lighted boards extensively and chose your process. I did however change the ring around the hole by channeling out 1/2 " from the hole leaving a half inch border of plywood and then the hole. I had read a comment before I started where someone asked how much you would charge and I was astounded. That was of course before I started buying the parts. Ordered the lights and bank chargers from your links, thanks for that too. All said and done, with a simple set of bags and a carrying case that I'm waiting to be delivered, I ended up with just a little over $400 dollars invested. Not including some supplies like sandpaper and such. Thanks again and all the best to you and yours. The boards came out awesome.

Thanks Martin! I'm glad to hear that you made my corn hole boards and like how they turned out! I wish I could make them for less $$$ but the materials are expensive. The only way I can make a profit is to build a batch of them, otherwise I would have to charge around $800 each set to make it worth my time invested. I hope your son loves the boards! Thanks for watching and all the best to you and yours! Oh and thanks for using my links, I really appreciate it!

Hi, Willow. Thanks for posting this video. I’ll be getting started on it soon. I wondered, how did you handle the area where the lights get inserted on the board? Was there a concern for the epoxy spilling into it and it needed a stopper?

what kind of run time can you get on full charge start to finish with this set up

I'm not really sure, I've never tested how long they will stay on till the batteries die. I have had them on for 8 hours and I still had 75% charge on the battery packs. so maybe 32 hours straight but I'm not sure. Thanks for watching!

Can you tell me how you did the holes? I'm confused as to how you routed out final hole without routing out all the epoxy?
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 года назад
Hi John. I used a 1/2' router bit and I measured 3" from the inside cutting edge of the 1/2"router bit and drilled a 1/8" hole at that point on my jig to make a 7" Diameter channel for the LED lights. Then I measured 3" from the outside cutting edge of the 1/2" router bit and drilled a 1/8" hole at that point on my jig to make a 6" hole for the cornhole. I will try to make a video on how I made my jig in a few week because I get a lot of questions about it. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Do the lights have other modes to cycle through instead of just based on sound
@WillowsWorldofDIY

Yes you can choose 1 of 7 colors and the lights will display that color without sound activation. If you download the app you can get more settings, more color options and can dim the brightness. There is also multiple sound activated settings.

Great video! Did the bags slide at all with the epoxy finish or did they just stick where they hit? Most boards allow the bags to slide a little so I was curious how the epoxy affected performance.
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 года назад
The bags slide like normal. I can't tell any difference between the epoxy finish and a polyacrylic finish as far as bag slide goes. The epoxy finish might slide a little bit more than a painted finish depending on what type of paint is used. The epoxy finish has held up great compared other finishes, the boards still look like brand new after a quick wipe down with a micro fiber cloth after play. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

When you placed the led lights to the circle, did you twist them to make the corners? I'm confused on how you did it.
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 года назад
I placed the lights on their side around the circle and twisted them to lay flat in the V channels. You might have to chisel out a little wood where the V Channel meets the circle to make room for the lights to twist. I also started super gluing the light down because I had 1 lift during the epoxy pour and had to do 2 coats to cover it. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Were you able to cut the led strips and use it for both boards? Will the remote work for both if cut?
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 3 года назад
No, I bought 1 set of lights for each board 6.56ft long and they fit without cutting. The remote won't work on the lights cut off of the original strand without installing a light controller on the cut off strand of lights. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Is it possible to just use clear silicone in channels instead of epoxy
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 года назад
I have never tried Silicone but I think the bags would grab instead of sliding. If you're trying to save money I think I would only epoxy the light channels and use a Valspar to coat the rest of the wood. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

How did you build the jig for the 6” hole?
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 года назад
I used a piece of 3/8 plywood. I removed my router base plate and traced around it and marked the mounting holes and drilled them out. I measured 8 inches from one side of the router base plate and made it come out to a point on that side. Then I screwed the 3/8 plywood to the router base and plunged my 1/2" router bit through the 3/8 plywood. I made mine so I can cut various size holes, so I measured from the far side cutting edge of my 1/2" router bit and drilled holes at 2"-10" on my jig. That allows me to cut 4"-20" holes with my jig. If you're just interested in cutting a 6" hole then just drill a hole on the jig 3" from the far side cutting edge of the router bit and that will make a 6 inch hole. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Do you have to use a 10000 mAh power bank to run the lights or can you use a lower one? Thanks in advance.
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 года назад
You don't have to use a 10000 mah power bank, and can definitely use a lower one but it won't power the lights as many hours. I can get 56 hours from the 10000 mah power bank and that work great for me if I want to take them with me camping for a few days. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Hey Willow ~ I'm having trouble with led strip light options. I need more feet as I went along the side to the top & across. I think I have found an option but width & depth is not listed. What was your width & depth for the leds? Thanks.
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 3 года назад
I used a 1/2" router bit and I cut the V channels 3/8" deep and I cut the ring around the hole 1/2" deep. I think most LED strips are 7/16" wide and 3/16" thick without a protective coating, if the LED's have a protective coating like the ones that I used in this video they are 7/16" wide and 1/4" thick. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

I am currently making cornhole boards as a little side business. I would love to offer this feature of led’s. How much of an extra cost is the expoy and leds? What do you charge for a set with these features. I know it’s not polite to talk about money, but I appreciate any insight you have
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 2 года назад
I buy the epoxy by the gallon and it cost about $60-$65 per gallon and I use 1/2 a gallon per board to coat the entire surface. The led lights with app controller is about $20-$25 each and the Battery packs are $15 each. So it cost me about $130-$145 to add the wireless app controlled led lights to the both boards with an epoxy finish on the entire surface. If i'm trying to save a little $ then I will only pour epoxy in the LED light channels and use a poly acrylic or spar varnish on the rest of the surface. I was charging $400-$500 for a set with custom decals, wood stain, wireless app controlled LED lights, battery packs and bags included. I haven't built any since the lumber cost have gone up and I'm not really sure what the cost of lumber is these days. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Fantastic design - will be starting build very soon. Questions:1) length of bolts? are both boards same bolt length? 2) what depth did you route for light channels? and out of interest 3) have you weighed the final portable boards? Really enjoyed your video and responses to questions. From a Canadian builder and fan.
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 года назад
Thank you! The bolts are 1-3/4" long and they are the same length on both boards. I routered the V channel 3/8" deep and the ring around the hole I did 5/8" deep. I blended the deeper 5/8" ring channel to the 3/8" V channel with a hand chisel to allow room for the LED lights to twist at the point where the channels come together. I have not weighed it but I have thought about adding a shoulder strap to aide in carrying longer distances. Most of the time when I carry it long distance, I carry it with another person and we carry it by the holes. I hope this is helpful. Good luck on your build. feel free to message me if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching!

Also here's a tip, i recommend super Glueing the lights down at the point where the V channel comes into the ring. There is a tight bend there and I have had problems in the past with the lights lifting at that point during the epoxy pour and had to pour a 2nd coat of epoxy to cover the lights completely.

Willow’s World of DIY Just putting bolts into first 2 legs and realized they will be too short at 1 3/4” if they are to go through 3 pieces of 1” nominal wood (3/4+3/4+3/4 =2 1/4”) Looks like I will need 2 1/2” bolts unless I am doing something wrong, which could well be.
