Great idea. I made a bench like this last year for my med room, never thought of making a media console out of it.

Love this design and have done the same build (with small variations) twice now. You're right in that the design lends itself well in covering up your mistakes while still looking quite striking. Cheers

Ended up making this project, but with poplar 2x4’s and stained them with antique brown from GF. Then got a beautiful live edge cherry slab for the shelf. Came out looking beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration!

Simple design and strong material. This is goooood stuff brotha. Wish I had so much room to work it as you do. I will try this on a smaller scale for my little TV space. Makes you want to do all your furniture by yourself. At least the solid pieces. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you.

Nice, simple and useful! My OCD would go crazy looking at the vertical seam on the left side and horizontal seam on the right! 😂 I’d have to fill that in with some filler and sand it smooth. 😄

I don’t have a planer. I LOVE this project. Think I can get away with just using a table saw on some high quality 2x’s?
@WoodnessGoodness
@WoodnessGoodness 4 года назад
absolutely! you. might just have little grooves between the 2x4's but you can rip them down to have straight edges no problem.
@320roscoe
@320roscoe 6 лет назад
did you think of in the sides having like holes(mortis and 2x2?for you shelf like the top but in the legs 10'down and then again )

@brazzabizarre2002
@brazzabizarre2002 6 лет назад
Looks great! Just have a question, I have never used a table saw before but in every video I have watched when they are ripping a small amount, they always set the blade to the opposite side of the wood to the fence. I noticed you trimmed your lengths with the blade very close to the fence. Is there any reason you did this? Wouldn't it be less accurate and unsafe this way, because you are unable to keep pressure against the fence for the whole cut?
@WoodnessGoodness
@WoodnessGoodness 6 лет назад
Brazza Bizarre yes you can cut both ways. I find it's easier for me to have your cut against the fence in this case because the 2x4's are already narrow and provide me with more real estate to hold on to while cutting. Also the chances of the long 2x4 getting pinched between the fence and the blade are less likely. I typically only do this on thin cuts like this. Great point and I hope this made sense!
