Amazing video mate! One thing is that if you wanted to run windows software on a mac, you can install a virtual machine program and run any windows (or linux for that matter) program. You can even let the virtual machine control any of the usb devices that you have. Can be a bit finicky, but much better than hauling a desktop to the garage and running a million meter cable lol.

I’ve had a full sound system installed in my GR too… Focal Audio mids and tweets in the front, 2-ways in the rear, powered by a JL audio 5 channel amp and a 10” JL sub (with a base controller in the blank switch by the right of the steering column) and compact box! Sounds awesome!!! What I didn’t like was the fake engine note being piped through and ruined it for me so I’ve since bought the Carista obd2 adapter and turned the artificial sound and noise cancelling off, it’s now perfect and with the music off can really enjoy the sound of the Miltek exhaust too
@JBCTR

Damn, great video again! Very underrated. Great Infos. Didn't know you can uninstall the sound generator box. I still have it disabled. Also, find it interesting that you didn't install the amp near the power source. And also, where to install a sub?
@JBCTR
@JBCTR 3 года назад
Thanks! If you remove the amp under the seat, you’ll lose all sound to the speakers so it needs to be replaced or remain connected. Sub can go under the boot floor… but not sure I will go through with that. We’ll see how I get on with the current set up!
@franciszekjurasz5820

Excellent job, but I'd like to warn you about one thing. I was working on my 2003 3-door Corolla Hatchback recently, and what I found out was that the factory sound treatment consists of cheap tar mats instead of proper butyl mats. These dry up after some time and become dead weight, I had to remove them with liquid nitrogen. I'm glad you made some good shots of the real "inside" of the car, that way I could see that it doesn't differ all that much from mine, which is why I suspect that the factory sound treatment you chose to keep is also the same as it was almost 20 years ago.
@JBCTR
@JBCTR 3 года назад
Thanks! And cheers for the advice - good to know! Right now, I intend for this car to be a ‘keeper,’ but we all know how things change! If I do keep it for a long period, I’ll look to switch out the OEM deadening :)

@JBCTR

I would recommend an amp. The speakers would be underpowered when running off the stock head unit and you’ll also be using the stock EQ which may sound strange on speakers it wasn’t designed for.

Is there a Software Upgrade (integrated) for the Stock Multimedia Unit to allow for a 5-9 channel Equalizer? I own a USDM 2020 Yaris LE Sedan, and this car needs a MAJOR Sound System UPGRADE! Plus keeping the stock (OEM) look is prefered. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and process! 👍

Hey! Part 2 is up now: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JF4jpBcmqgM.html DSP is fantastic. Noise cancelling removal is noticeable, but so is the addition of sound deadening 👍🏼
@BJJBOURN
@BJJBOURN 2 года назад
Love the videos on the Yaris, watched them all! The only bit which I’m not totally in-sync with is the initial wire loom from the amp to the original factory wires (how is this done? What’s the white unit connecting the two lots of wires?). Any help you can give me on this would be massively appreciated :) Thanks and keep smashing it! Edit: Given i’m likely to keep the car and the audio system for a long time, is there any negative side to crimping the wires directly to each other instead?
@JBCTR
@JBCTR 2 года назад
The white unit is the original plug feeding the OEM amp. I’ve then made ‘pins’ to take the necessary feeds from each wire in the OEM plug. I’ve intentionally not shared the pin locations as I don’t want to be held responsible if anyone gets them wrong! The information is available on the Toyota technical website which is in the description. No issues with splicing the wires directly. Only risk is how well the OEM system would go back in 👍🏼
@BJJBOURN
@BJJBOURN 2 года назад
@@JBCTR thanks for the reply! The amp I'm looking at comes with RCA inputs, so I will have to buy a line converter and crimp this up to the initial wiring loom (I think that's right? Haha). Regarding the remote wire, is there just one wire from the back of the amp REM? If so, am I able to run this into the the fuse box with the same method you used on the Dash cam wiring video? Many thanks for your help, Dec
@JBCTR
@JBCTR 2 года назад
@@BJJBOURN I would consider getting an amp with high level inputs if you can. Mainly because it can take four inputs as opposed to two which means you can keep FR, FL, RR & RL. I would also say that a DSP is almost required as the head unit has a bit of a weird EQ on it that is tuned for the stock speakers.
@BJJBOURN
@BJJBOURN 2 года назад
Thanks for all your help on this! I’ve decided on the build, just trying to sort the logistics of wiring out. I’m not using rear fills, I’m instead I’m going to run active. How much speaker cable would you recommend buying for the 2 fronts and 2 tweeters, with the amp being in the front seat?
@Jonathan_Doe_
@Jonathan_Doe_ 2 года назад
I’m surprised you didn’t run into issues using the outputs from the OEM head, someone measured the output from the head into the factory DSP unit and said it’s basically speaker level signals going into it?

I'd like to know your background to tackle the projects you've done. Are you an engineer? Taking apart things isn't a problem for me, just putting it back together is the problem. I'd be scared after taking everything apart that once put together, I'd have extra parts and wondering where they went.....

@JBCTR
@JBCTR 2 года назад
You can code it out with Carista or similar (I believe). I’m not sure which wires are responsible for the engine sound enhancement, or if the device would still work with them disconnected.
@S73PJY1971
@S73PJY1971 3 года назад
jesus! thats a lot of work to go balls deep for decent ice. ill put my hand up and ask the stupid question, why not use the wires that are there for the speakers and amp? also how many bits did you have left over once the car was back together? hahaha.
@JBCTR
@JBCTR 3 года назад
You can re-use the wires and if this was an older car, I probably would. However to use them you need to either cut the plugs off or splice in to them and I didn’t want to do either. This way I can put the factory system back in with no issues. Arguably, the larger cables will provide ‘better’ sound quality too… I’m not entirely sure on that one though. Maybe a sales pitch 😅
