Feels like Vlad was trying everything he could to argue it because he doesn’t like Kanye the person, but I’m glad Ak kept the pressure on. It’s truly not even a debate about Ye being the greatest hip hop artist. From rapping, to production, to fashion, he doesn’t miss. His discography is easily one of, if not the greatest ever, his clothing brand took over the hip hop community, and like Ak said he shifts hip hop whenever he wants to.

Discography, music videos, live performance, stage design, creative tours; glow in the dark, WTT, Yeezus and Saint Pablo tour with the floating stage, reinventing himself with each album, cultural influence, creativity, producing, hits, integrating fashion into his style and having a distinctive look with each album, creative album covers. All around artistry. Kanye paved the way for updating your albums in the streaming era, giving people different versions of the album, leading up to the final version. He got backlash for doing it with TLOP and then I started seeing other artists do it. For the Donda album he did a listening party in stadiums to make sure his music was stadium ready. He turned that into concerts. Kanye approaches each album like he’s a new artist, that’s why he doesn’t care when an album gets push back because he knows he’s operating out of his comfort zone and that’s where the longevity is. Even if we go into contemporary art, he got Takashi Murakami to design the Graduation cover in 07 and direct the good morning video in 08. Now I look around and see Travis, Drake, Billie ellish and post Malone working with Takashi Murakami. Who was first and did it the best ? Ye. There’s a long line of artists influenced by Ye; Drake, Cole, Tyler, Travis, Asap, Big Sean, Wale, Chance, Baby Keem, Kendrick, Uzi, Cudi (Ye’s first 3 albums), Frank ocean, Weeknd and the list goes on and on.

This is the best I’ve heard him articulate with no bias and also be able to differentiate what an artist and rapper does. Kanye’s definitely left an imprint as well as dictate and pivot culture on each release in every aspect. Nobody comes near

Believe it or not I used to hate Kanye West. It wasn't until I turned 42 and some mexican kids kept pestering me about looking like Ye that I finally decided to sit down and study this man's catalogue. Its unmatched. Even that Rick Ross verse on Devil in a Blue Dress thats Ross's best verse ever preceded by one of the greatest guitar solos of all time.

Ye is brilliant and is ahead of our time. Always has been. Mad respect for him (in all areas and creative ventures) Kanye is an artist and a student at heart.

I agree with Akademiks assessment of Kanye West as an artist, but, another thing I wish they mentioned was the amount of people who became incredibly successful through their affiliation with Kanye West. Virgil Abloh (RIP 🕊), Don C, Ibn Jasper, and many of the artists who he gave an opportunity/record deal to like Big Sean and Kid Cudi. All of the controversy aside, I think many years from now when we look back in hip-hop history Kanye West will most certainly go down as the most legendary rapper and one of the greatest/most influential entertainers of all time.

He successfully made joints mixed with classic hip hop, rock and R&B music. He’s influenced your favorite rappers ever. He even coined the term GOAT! He’s won every music award and music honor out there. If you’re a real fan of hip hop music and really understand the culture then LL Cool J has to be Top 2 always as the all around GOAT. I don't like how Vlad downplayed Rocawear, but maybe it wasn't big on the west coast. I worked in retail for awhile and Rocawear definately hung around longer than Enyce, Akademiks, Karl Kani, etc. The thing that killed Rocawear from a retail standpoint is the kids switched from urban brands to skater/indie brands like Bape, BBC, The Hundreds. Crooks and Castles, 10 Deep, etc and Rocawear got looked at as the old head brand. But they were doing numbers from like 99-2007ish...which is long for an urban brand

It's like he was listening in on a conversation I was just having with my friends a week ago. We said all the same things. Kanye is the "artist" in Hip Hop, and it's not even close. This doesn't mean that there aren't any other great artists in hip hop, this just means that Kanye is head and shoulders above them all. Ye leads trends and doesn't depend on trends to make amazingly transformative music as do others.

Jay Z is 10 times the rapper Kanye is. Kanye is one of the best producers ever but that’s different than flow and skill on the mic. It’s crazy how much we let our lyrical standards fall for EMCEES. Kanye is a cat in the hat rapper. In the 90s you couldn’t step to a mic without some skill.
