Khaled is in pop music, he isnt Hiphop. not even saying that as an insult it's just what it is. People think that Hiphop is so big because rap music is so big but Hiphop isnt nearly as big as rap music is & it never could be because only so many people are Hiphop, & the culture of us (people who are Hiphop) is inherently counter culture.

I wasnt there but I think a big part of what made them so great & so successful was that contention between big at his core being a hardcore rapper & puff being a feel-good partying type dude. puff got him to do the radio shit & he happened to he so talented he could make it dope & timeless, but he would still make sure to put his foot down n do his Hiphop shit & his gangsta shit so they had the streets, they had the women, they had the radio, they had the mtv & vmb, they had the grimy club and the arenas & the overseas arenas. had the east goin crazy, had the west feelin em too, had the south fuckin with em, & somehow just off talent & authenticity they hit everyone & everything like that without sacrificing anything else. the radio records still worked in the street & the club, the down south records still worked in NY, the dudes still rocked with the joints for women & visa versa BIG was just that guy man R.I.P
