Fantastic video, fully comprehensive and thorough as always! It's interesting as all cameras do a great job "overall," but what one does with their action cams can make a difference! I feel I have to use my GoPro H11 because I just can't trust a DJI "Hook and Magnetic" connection for my needs: I have to tightly screw my H11 Action Cam into a Carbon Fiber pole super tight to film stable underwater shots of bring up Sailfish, Mahi, Marlin, etc. near the end-fight as the boat is still moving at 2-6 knots...Can't risk a $400 Action Cam just popping off from the water pressure. But you can tell just how well DJI has done with their Action 4! But then again, what we all really want (as an absolute resolution snob) is an 8K Action Cam filming in 10 bit color and 150mMbps w/ a monster 1.5" sensor in a 18M waterproof, non-overheating vertical body (Vertical like my old Sony X-3000) weighing less than 160grams, w/ RU-vid's figuring out a way to provide content that is in its native uploaded resolution. Ahh, yes, we can dream... 🙂
I have owned the GP12 and the A4.. the GoPro completely destroys it. I returned the A4 after 1 day because it sucked so bad. The A4's "dewarped" mode is laughable and completely distorted. The GP has better stabilization and mine hasnt overheated or glitched out once. Plus look at the coloring. Do you want the grass to be green or look like dark baby diarrhea? The A4 is garbage. Gopro 12 is still the king.
Hi, I am a new here :) Great reviews, I am learning a lot from you :) Just noticed that not all subjects in your comparison have the same weight, for example colour quality could have scale of 1-6 points, image quality 1-5 , the ease of use, menu, touch screens could have 1 only and so on, therefore, if to follow such schematic the comparison could be more complete and fair. If you could do this with the GoPro 10 in this format I would appreciate :)🤝
How is the wind noise unexistant in the audio test since I've watched at least two other videos of action 3 vs 4 and especialy at action4 it was horrible. Because I will use it in high winds(flying) I don't know which to choose.
@@AsianSurvivor The logic can go both ways using this: this guy shows Action 4 in a bad light because he's paid off. This outcome even seems more likely, but I wasn't implying that on my original post. Do you have a reason for staying this or just a hunch?
as per your comparison I would say we give 2 points to action 3 instead of action 4 if the feature has not improved, so this makes a tie between action 3 and action 4. So still action 3 takes the lead just saying😇😇😇
Great overview and match-up! Thanks! One thing that could give the Action 4 another thumbs up is my understanding that you can use the DJI Mic with the Action 4 without an adapter. This means you can use most any external microphone plugged into the DJI Mic transmitter or use the DJI Mic itself. Cheers!
Interesting, I thought you could run an external mic without an adapter on the Action 3 as well. Is that not the case? This is a big advantage for DJI as the GoPro's external mic support is clunky at best, and you have to pay $50 for the privilege!
Purchased the OA4 for £289. Generally impressed and like its form factor. Was originally going to get GP 11 at £249, mainly as it had GPS. However all the reports of crashing, hanging and file corruption put me off. Ended up returning the OA4 as spotted the OA3 is currently on deal for £169! Couldn’t justify £120 more just for slightly better low light quality! Only thing I wish the OAs were better at is 360 horizon lock. The GP 11 can do 369 horizon lock at 5.3k while the OAs are limited to 2.7k. Looks like FOV on the GP 11 is cropped in a lot more though.
Your results about overheating are surprising. In most other reviews it's a completely different result and OA4 seems to be much better then the OA3 there. Are both Osmo Actions the EU-version? Due to EU-regulation-BS all action cams launched in 2022 and later have to shut down when they reach an internatl temperature of 48°C! Because of that No-EU-Version actioncams perform MUCH better then the ones that are sold on the EU-market

in wind noise hero 11 on 3rd and 2nd is 4 and action 3 on 1st place and in last if camera is shut down in between the recording there is nothing left- so the clear winer is DJI action 3

may i ask if the magnetic mount on the action 4 still has this issue that was found on the action 3? this youtube video demonstrates the problem ""DJI Osmo Action 3" quick-release adapter mount issue"
Jeeez DJI what's up with that overheating? I was super into the Action 3 and a huge upside was it's great heat resistance. In the end went with a Hero 11 because of the better picture quality, but was waiting for the Action 4 to catch up on that front. It nearly did, but now they broke the main selling point, while Gopro increased it on the Hero 12. Seriously, wtf?
didn't have the problem myself, looks like motion blur - i.e. a too low shutter speed - that gets the electronic stabilization in trouble. Actually this is more a typical GoPro problem in low light, as you could see in my test.
That low light image enhancement feature at 11:39 says for 30fps or lower frame rate video, but mine is greyed out if I'm in 4k. Is that the same for everyone else?
@@MountMediaChannel Thanks for the reply. Those were off as well, but I found out it was cause I had Rocksteady + with regular RS the option is available.
When considering battery life the biggest impact for me on my GoPro 11 is that it drains the battery even when off. The Osmo doesn't have that problem at all. It is so annoying.
I question the common sense of anyone who thinks the A4 is better than the GP12.. just look at the atrocious coloring on the A4. Do you want the grass to be green or look like dark baby diarrhea?? Plus the GP has better stabilization and sound with the media mod. And if you really want to laugh, set the A4 to "dewarped" mode and then film something round. Its completey distorted and stupid looking on the A4. Face it nerds, the GP is still king.
Great video. Thanks! I was a bit surprised by your comments on Usability. I've never used a Go Pro but nearly every other comparison review I've seen has described the Go Pro software as "klunky" and said the DJI system is a lot better. The fact that you can change settings on the front OR back touch screens on the Action is a huge plus in some situations that the Go Pro can't compete with. That being said, it is ludicrous that one of the most common actions (deleting footage) takes SEVEN clicks on the DJI Action 4!
Not really taking seven clicks. Let him be in that footage frame, let him SWIPE left on the screen and there you go - The delete button - One click for mankind! It's the way to maneuver the pages . Just intuitive. There's always along way to do things and certainly the right short cut way. Let him try again. The fact that he could have swiped left in the video or photo frame to delete but rather decided to go the Bermuda triangle way, shows there's sth in there or just mere lack of further tech research. By the way, I know it's not easy to put such videos together. Kudos on that, but come clean next time.
