If you're just starting out with your Pocket 2 and want to know the best camera settings to get started with, or you just need some recommendations for some decent accessories, I've put a useful resources page together geni.us/a8Mu
Yesterday I was looking at microphones and you had the best video. Today I’m trying to help my son find an action camera and you have the best video on that too. Thank you. Your channel is amazing!
You saved me from getting action 2 camera. The footage from action 2 is very soft and colors look little washed out. Pocket 2 is more crisp and love it.
Pocket 2 looks more natural and has wide lense adapter. The Acton is to gimmicky, should have just upgraded the already fantastic Osmo Action. . DJI, add a replaceable battery on the Pocket 3 , don't ruin it ..
Thank you for doing this! I bought the Action 2 from your other video and am looking forward to using it. This gives great perspective and I’m super glad I found your channel.
Another great video. One question. What was your max ISO sent for the cameras for the night shots? Where they allowed to go to max or did you limit the max ISO? As always, thank you.
Thanks, Steve. I was shooting with auto exposure settings but the max auto ISO was set to 400, I didn't want to set it too high as the quality would start to fall apart. But if it'll help I'd be happy to do a video showing footage at various max ISO stages to see what the quality of the footage looks like...
Thank you very much for the comparison. On my summer motorcycle tour I used the Osmo Action mounted to my helmet. Great shots, superb quality, battery changing was easy without the need to take my helmet off. With that experience in mind, I came very fast to the conclusion that the Action 2 doesn’t fit my needs, if I want to use it serious as an action cam. If the battery is empty what would you do? If you are in heavy rain you stop and will mount the waterproof housing? And the close to fisheye perspective is more weird than cinematic. 🥸🤪 The Pocket 2 delivers great video quality with great sound from the external mic. I used it for vlogging and landscape shots with great results. So, what is the Action 2? Right, a useless, overpriced gimmick which doesn’t anything good. Try better next time, DJI.
I don't know, it certainly has its short comings and is nowhere near perfect, but I think the Action 2 has its uses. I think for those who want a 'hybrid' vlogging and action cam setup with a small footprint, it's good for that. If you're mainly vlogging with the occasional action shots, like wanting to go swimming or something then I think its pretty decent.
I would get an action one if I could find one cheap enough on eBay but everybody wants top Dollar for them now. But the action 2 power combo is only like 250 British pounds brand new and does 4K recordings of slow motion and hyperlapse the audio and image quality is pretty decent enough and the camera module is waterproof. I mean for the price I think it's unbeatable value for money. It's not the best but it is a great option when you consider in those factors.
Tamara, did you notice Action 2 footage had any wobbly effects when doing regular walking footage or not? I saw another vlogger stating this issue. Cheers.
Just noted the action 2 is like £250 with the power combo. Now compare that to the pocket 2 which is like £339. Is it really worth spending that bit more for the pocket 2? The action 2 is also waterproof and does 4K hyperlapse and slo mo. I'm not sure but I think I heard somebody say that the field of view has been adjusted so you can actually get more narrow fov now. Can I ask if you've noticed the image quality improving on the action 2, during the recent updates. Cheers 👍
It depends what you want to film. I still think the Pocket 2 has superior video quality to the Action 2, but if you need something waterproof and you want to shoot 4K hyperlapse, then the Action 2 is the better option for you.
Did you get to try the action 2 without the stabilization on? I know gopro does the same thing not know how to stabilize in the dark.. I got a gimbal, and turn off the stabilization, and it's better...
That was an awesome video Tamara. Thank you so much. I'm looking to get something to capture some family scenes from my youngest's wedding next June and have been poised, waiting to buy the Pocket 2 but saw a video not too long back suggesting that DJI released a new Pocket camera in November every two years so I was holding back. Non the less, your comparison video was priceless and again, many thanks. A new subscriber 🙂
Thanks so much! 😊 I’m glad you found it helpful. I’m really hoping for the Pocket 3 this month, but there’s not long to go until the end of the month, so who knows.
What about a cheap used pocket 1? Do you think the image quality would still be decent enough compared to the Action 2? If so this should be a fantastic alternative for those who are budget orientated but looking for a high quality image for vlogging
Both look great. I would go with the Pocket 2 and wide angle lens adaptor for my needs. I’m hoping DJI will make a Pocket 3 with a slightly larger sensor.
I wish they would give us pocket 2 but in action camera format like the dji action.. I want to mount a pocket 2 to things like a chest mount without the absurd shape it has right now.
I have testing both also. Long story short I am think of selling the pocket 2. For the low light night walking and talking shots I can put the action 2 on my falcon gimbal. Trying to minimize the gear.
That sounds like a decent reason. I've been looking at getting a gimbal for the Hero 10 and Action 2 but haven't pulled the trigger yet so I'll check out the Falcon.
Thank you, also watched your review of Pocket 2 Got my Pocket 2 around 2 weeks ago, been using and loving it! Really satisfied I bought it and bring it with me to have an adventure!
Hey. They're both very different for different scenarios. Pocket 2 is definitely better for vlogging, but if you need a rugged camera that you can chuck anywhere and also vlog with then the Hero 10 is the one.
Great video Tamara. I got the Pocket 2 as an upgrade from using my Original Osmo Action. I used the Osmo Action on a gimbal especially in low light as the EIS isn't good in low light. The Action 2 doesn't seem any better. There is also the problems of overheating with the Action 2 which is unacceptable. I think I'll stick with my Osmo Action on a gimbal on rainy days & my P2 for everything else. I notice also that the Action 2 has a fixed lens & so can't take ND/PL filters in PRO mode. I'm really disappointed with DJI.
Thanks. And yeah, for low light having a gimbal is necessary for the Action 2. Freewell have some NDs and a PLs for it though, I just got some so I'll be doing a video soon.
Thanks for doing this, I have the pocket 2 and the osmo action. I feel like an upgrade isn’t a necessity for me. I was tempted but I’m content with my lot.
Great comparison, why is it so big difference between them. Same sensor, so should be pretty much the same. The pocket 2 looks better, I have both and love them.
Hey Espen and Tamara. Some interesting results in this comparison. The difference was already obvious in your Bergen video Espen. Do you also have the wide angle lens for the P2 Espen? And thank you Tamara for giving us great videos about the Action 2 👌.
@@TamaraGabrielUK I picked up the Sony a7SIII, and really thought a compact camera wasn’t necessary. I am contemplating the Action 2, GoPro 10 (although I’ve never loved GoPros fully), or even the inst360 go 2 line, but I’m also once again leaning towards the Pocket 2.
Oh nice! I'm hoping to get an A7s III when they become available again, there's no stock anywhere in the UK. Hero 10 is great, I prefer it over the Action 2 for everyday stuff, I think with the Action 2 it's more an fpv camera for me because of its size and mounting options.
@@TamaraGabrielUK my only gripe with a7siii is that it makes me less confident as a photographer, but I’m not really a photographer, so I guess that shouldn’t matter. I even contemplated going with Fuji. I will say this-I thought the a7III was the end all be all, but the focus and colors out of the a7siii have spoiled me. Now I’m interested in the a7iv bc it sounds like a baby A1, but the chip shortage will probably leave me stuck until next year. 😞
That's what I'm so gassed about with the a7s III, the colours and autofocus. I've been really happy with the a7 III, it's a great camera, but I the a7s III is next level, I can't wait to get one. I was on the fence with the a7iv, there were a few things that put me off, only minor, so I'll stick with getting the a7s III when they become available again as it'll make a great b cam to the FX6 I'm gonna get.
