I think variety in movement option is one of the most attractive feature in DMC games, make them irreplaceble with other action games. Great to see your new contents 🥰

Thank you very much for making this and coming back. I want to learn so much more about DMC5, and just DMC in general. Your tutorials are the some of the best online imo.

I'm very curious to hear you talking about inertia from DMC5 mods. I've been recently playing around with that enabled and it's fun if a bit more janky from how I remember it in dmc4 (payline seems to give Nero a ton of aerial momentum when jump canceled). So I'm interested in what you have to say, since you've played much more dmc4 than I have and have more of a base to discuss it. It's amazing that people even managed to mod it back into the game

Yeah, the way characters gain inertia through moves varies wildly per character. I've been meaning to tweak it to be more consistent, but there's a lot of stuff on the list right now.

@@TheHitchhiker Woah, the man himself replies! I hope nothing I said sounded like criticism. Like I said, it's amazing you managed to put inertia back in at all. Plus, I honestly love how Nero starts to drift around an enemy after jump canceling payline. Especially since his calibur loses aerial momentum if the attack connects before he jump cancels. Thanks again for all you've added to this game, Hitch! You made an already great game even greater!

@@TheHitchhiker Please let me know whenever you get around to inertia fixes. I'm willing to even put off the next video if necessary so I can talk about it.

@@ChaserTech I'm curious about your opinion of inertia in DMC5 compared to 4. I think they tried to make it more rigid in DMC5 to avoid complications in physics or to make it more "streamlined" but I think it makes it a little less interesting on how the characters move. I love DMC5 but even with some of DMC4's the game had a lot of interesting gameplay. DMC5 does a good job of following up, but I miss things like flying guard even if it wasn't an intended mechanic.

Oh my god, dude, thank you SO much for taking the time to put these together! I can’t tell you how much of a difference this made to my DMC5 experience. While I had played through 3 and 4 (many years ago when their respective special editions came out) and about half of 5 (right after launch), I’d never really taken the time to actually LEARN how to play them properly. I was either just using the prebuilt combos individually or button mashing my way through encounters. I just built a new PC, and I decided to play through 5 as a way of benchmarking the difference between my old rig and the new one, as it’s such a gorgeous game (plus I only got about halfway through it when I played it after it first came out). The idea of making my own combos, experimenting with the game’s combo structure, branching out from the basic movesets and so on…all of that seemed like it was too intimidating and advanced for me. Just as an example, the main series on my channel right now, which is basically just me doing normal let’s plays, is called “I am Bad at Games”. Anyways, my point being that I had NO idea what I was doing. I hadn’t even bought enemy step for anyone, because I figured it was kind of a niche move and that I’d rather spend my orbs on new attacks instead. Zero concept of how important it was for this type of stuff. This is going to sound like I’m in an infomercial, but I promise I’m being sincere: until I watched this series, I didn’t realise at all what I was missing. These videos completely transformed my understanding of DMC5 and gave me a whole new level of appreciation for just how deep and engaging this beautiful, wonderful game is. Do I still feel a little wary of anything over normal difficulty? Well, yeah, but at least now I don’t just feel like I’m kinda sleepwalking my way through encounters. I’m starting to see how you can connect things in ways the game doesn’t even begin to tell you about. Even though my execution is still lagging pretty far behind my understanding, I feel so much more confident in and appreciative of just how deep and nuanced the combat is. And I love that as my understanding of the mechanics opens up, it allows me to be more personally expressive in how I play the game! After all, DMC is all about style, and now that I can see how to move beyond the basic options offered to you by the game, I feel like I can actually start to develop and define my own personal style of combat. And I never would’ve known that without watching these concise, elegantly put-together tutorials. Thank you so, so much! By the way, I don’t know if you’d be at all interested, but I have a Discord server that I run for smaller YT channels and other types of creators/artists. The basic idea is that it’s a small (but growing) community for creators to help, advise, grow and promote each others’ work in a web environment that’s increasingly hostile towards any sort of self-promotion, as well as just fostering a sense of community for people who might otherwise have a hard time finding folks to share themselves with. I’d be super flattered if you felt like taking a look, but I 100% understand if that doesn’t sound like your kinda thing. Again, thank you so much. All the best!

It's possible to move in the air pretty freely during shots with blue rose (consecutive shots will slow you air momentum tho) so you can air attack, jump cancel, shoot and hold left stick back, then continue combo. It adds some nice smooth movement to Nero's combos.

It's funny how a character moves with attacking isn't utilized more often. It's used heavily in fighting games which Hideaki Itsuno has a good amount of experience. Even something as simple as Stinger 2 in DMC1 helps Dante move quicker and cover distance faster

Not perfect and kinda janky in 5 unlike 4 but it’s there😅.
@Revolthell
@Revolthell 2 года назад
Inertia is still in 5, its just not carried over from Enemy Steps like in 4. For example if you Starfall with Vergil and then Trick up, you'll still keep momentum and you can use that to dodge attacks. Sky Star's inertia carries into Fireworks, and Nero's Punchline at certain heights will go extremely low and generate a short burst of Inertia. If you play with Guardfly WIP with SSSiyan's Collab Trainer you can experience DMC5 on a level that basically surpasses all DMCs.
