I can’t say for sure as I am no expert but I suspect it also depends what you eat the eggs with, and how they are cooked. I personally don’t eat eggs because they are an animal protein and because they are an inflammatory food but that’s just me. 😊

It might have been better to point out that they didn't find any difference between groups because the "non egg" group was allowed to eat foods that probably contained egg, like pancakes, toast, and pastries. The only difference was that one group was required to eat 2 plain eggs a morning with breakfast, and everyone else was supposed to avoid plain eggs. They were allowed to eat whatever they wanted the rest of the day. The control group could have had 2 eggs at lunch and it wouldn't have mattered. No one had to eat 100% egg-free at all, not even at breakfast. It's also worth noting that many students dropped out of the study and final test results were based on N=15 and N=12. These would have been much stronger points to make than wording about statistical significance.

Exactly, and they also didn’t use vegan participants , they used people who totally could have already been consuming eggs everyday for their whole life so therefore the study wouldn’t show an increase in LDL levels, but only because they already had elevated levels because they most likely were non - vegan or vegetarian and consumed eggs daily already

Eggs are good or bad depends on how you cook them. If you fry them, you’re using cooking oil, which could be a factor causing the result of the studies you talked about. Chinese people steam eggs, boil eggs, put eggs in the soup. They won’t over cook the eggs. But Western people like to fry eggs, or bake eggs with high heat, which might reduce the goodness of the eggs. If you cook them in a good way, you get the benefit of them. It’s that simple!

One crazy thing about cholesterol ... I've eaten WFPB for nearly 40 years and I exercise a lot, so my cholesterol score was perfect in 2017 - the one time it was ever tested - pro-active health checks are rare in the UK. Two years later and a virus laid me in bed inactive eating comfort food and my high BMI caught up with me and I was deemed "diabetic" on the basis of one solitary Hba1c reading. I soon fixed that - lost 10KG, felt fitter than I had in years, Hba1c back to normal, but because I still had the label, my heart health score went from 7 percent to 17 and I was offered statins ... I feel sorry for those in the US where these things are forced on them. I fully hope to be at optimal weight within 6 months and plan to put the miles in on my bike and am determined to get the "diabetic" label removed.

I agree with some commentators here that industrial seed oils (e.g, those found in things like mayonnaise, salad dressings, and industrially baked goods) are a much bigger problem. The rise in cardiovascular disease in fact seems to coincide with their introduction into the food supply early in the last century. Even so they are probably harmless in very small quantities over a lifetime, but it's the constant consumption of them that is the problem.

This is outdated information. The latest information from a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies showed no association with cardiovascular disease risk overall and is associated with potentially lower cardiovascular disease risk in Asian populations. While egg consumption generally has no effect on total cholesterol levels, it consistently raises HDL, so-called “good cholesterol.” There is actually no evidence that egg consumption increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Well I have 30 chicken back-yard raise. They produce about 25eggs/day, I eat almost 10eggs per day for about 2 years now,. My HDL and LDL are high, but my blood pressure is running perfectly find, and I'm totally healthy overall. @darkchaos11
@darkchaos11 3 года назад
Your results make sense. I think this might be because of the same reason that LDL increases on keto. On keto, your HDL and LDL both increase. You can have high LDL but it can take 2 forms - pattern A or pattern B. This can be determined by Apo-B or more commonly, Triglycerides / LDL. If this value is < 0.8 (mmol/mmol) or < 1.75 (mg/mg) then you have pattern A cholesterol. If its over 1.8 (mmol/mmol) or 4.2 (mg/mg) then you have pattern B cholesterol. Pattern A LDL does not lead to cardiovascular events because the LDL is fluffier and is too big to go into the linings of the blood vessels and start to athleroscerosis. Pattern B is caused by LDL being glycated by sugar and then further metabolized to become a more small, dense form of LDL that is small enough to go into the blood vessels and start atherosclerosis. This is known as pattern B cholesterol and it leads to cardiovascular events. The LDL is calculated from standard laboratory tests and not actually measured because lab tests otherwise would be too expensive but if you use gel centrifugation, you can see that LDL is not uniform but it is made of different particles. A measure of apoB can also give you this info, but it is a more specific test that you can request but costs money.

I’m glad that a doctor put this into a concise video. I’d been kind of reluctant to have eggs as often as I like because of the bad press, but then years later, the headlines contradicted this, leaving me confused. For those who aren’t there yet, when they say life begins at 40, I think it’s really that more medical tests are ordered after 40, including the blood test for cholesterol levels, and the doctor explaining the 4 different levels in the results. My results weren’t so good in 2 of the 4 sections, but it didn’t warrant a prescription for any medication, nor was any advice given to improve those numbers. The reason why I haven’t been eating eggs much since then is that I only like them scrambled, and I’m too lazy to clean the pan and spatula after cooking them. I wonder what the results of the study mentioned would be like if they were done on a group of adults over the age of forty.

How did the participants in the study prepared their eggs and what other types of food did the participants consume in their diet? Did they eat bacon, chips, candy and or bread? Studies I've seen and my own proof eating 2-3 eggs everyday, my LDL stayed the same while my HDL increased. I'm at excellent health levels with my HDL/Triglyceride/LDL ratios. Cholesterol isn't bad, it's what SIZE of LDL you have and if you're insulin resistant or not that matter. Only the small dense LDL particles penetrate the arterial walls, the large buoyant LDL are healthy and protects the brain, especially from cognitive issues. The brain is made up of 25% cholesterol, it needs choline, fat and cholesterol, cholesterol is also needed to make hormones, cell membranes and protects the brain, heart and liver. Why would the body make 75% of it's own cholesterol if it was bad? It becomes bad if we're insulin resistant (diabetic), smoke, overweight, don't exercise, eat high carbs & sugar & fast food, have inflammation, or oxidized damage. When looking at cholesterol, you MUST include ALL the factors, not just one LDL number.

My cholesterol also went sky-high and I couldn't work out for a while what it was. Had 3 tests in the space of 7 weeks. Cut drastically back on cheese, butter, cream cheese although I was eating a fair bit, it wasn't anything crazy. Back in the lab expecting better results but numbers stayed very similar. I have now cut the eggs out of my diet completely and will have another repeat test in a month or so. The HDL was end of the upper limit so good, my TRG were perfect but my LDL and the total cholesterol had 3 exclamation marks next to them from the lab lady. We will see. BTW I was eating between 10 and 14 eggs a week for about a year. Also Greek full fat yogurt. Lost some weight by eating fats mainly, kept the weight off for a year and feel relatively good with tons of energy. I still believe though that if it is the eggs raising my cholesterol significantly, that they are healthy for us but maybe not as many a week as I was consuming.

As the Mayo Clinic reports, most healthy people can eat up to seven eggs a week without increasing their risk of heart disease. Studies have even shown that eating between one and three eggs on a daily basis improves HDL levels, which is the good type of cholesterol. HDL helps to remove some of the bad kind of cholesterol (known as LDL) from your arteries, so you want your HDL levels to be high so that they protect your heart. Of course, everyone is different. Keep in mind that people with diabetes are already at higher risk of heart disease and some research suggests that eating as many as seven eggs a week could elevate their risk even more. In short, there is research to back both cases. We suggest limiting your egg consumption-whether that's once a week or three times a week-so that you keep your heart in tip-top shape.

If we'd see a normal low- carb or keto person, doing 16-20h fast a day, eating within circadian rythms, sleeping 9h, eating farm raised grass fed beef and free ranged chicken, eating goats cheese and eating 300-500g of veggies per day while still having berries or other antioxidant rich foods we'd see a completely different picture. But NO. They keep comparing Esselstyns 80/10/10 diet to the unhealthiest diet they can find, in most studies promoting veganism they don't even talk about a balanced Vegan diet, it's usually the max 10% fat per day which almost no vegan even follows. The claim is that eggs raise cholesterol, hence the burden of proof is on you to show that it does, not for anyone else to show that it doesn't, and you claim that the majority of the studies support that view, and yet, the only study you show, is one that shows the exact opposite. In the study you showed, the rise in cholesterol did not reach statistical significance - therefore the study concluded that eggs do not adversely affect plasma lipids, which is the only scientifically sound conclusion one could possibly reach from the data presented. And yet you claim it's misleading - there's nothing misleading about it. How about you show us the clinical studies that do show a statistically significant rise in cholesterol from eating eggs - until then, your claim that eating eggs raises cholesterol remains unfounded and this video is just another plant-based agenda driven propaganda piece with no scientific data to back it up.

this is confusing and conflicting. I am no expert, but from what I read on the CDC site about cholesterol, what you eat may or may not eat will raise your cholesterol depending on the type of fats. Everywhere I look states Eggs don't raise your bad Cholesterol the lower density. Obviously only under extreme circumstances where some one partook in a very high egg diet did it really matter. I know the CDC aren't experts not he subject, but information aligns everywhere else. From a short 30 minute research, it seems like Eggs are not raising your cholesterol, but could. Either way I only eat eggs every day for a week, like every other month when I do buy eggs. Besides that I don't really eat it as a staple.

So here we have a sort of anti egg video. I felt it had some gray areas. That study he mentioned about students eating 2 eggs a day, wait a minute, didn't they eat anything else during that time, just purely eggs? No carbs, vegetables, fruits? How about they way the eggs were cooked? Fried in oil? Or boiled in water? I really thought he was going to try and sell statins in the video.

The claim is true- but only for people already on a high fat and cholesterol diet. If a low fat vegan or healthy eater ate an egg, their cholesterol would spike. Biggest problem I see is all the keto docs like Ken Berry Shawn Baker Paul Saladino and keto chiropractors claim high cholesterol doesn’t matter.

1:30 What? What you are saying about statistic is bullshit, that is not an explanation or a valid excuse to believe that eggs raises cholesterols. Statistical significance matter, we should lower the bar even lower then 5 % due to the problem that you just stated. Even if they did, is it a problem? No. What is a problem is if it raises oxLDL but that is not the case here. Even IF it raised cholesterol, there is a question of how much and how much is bad... Cholesterols is needed for hormone synthesis you know and important for the general health in the body.

But is dietary cholesterol bad? Assuming your levels are very low already what would be the issue? As a vegan my cholesterol levels are extremely low. If I started eating ethical pasteurized eggs I could get a natural source of nutrients I don't get in my normal diet.

Eating eggs won’t harm or raise cholesterol. The issue is majority of the people who are eating the eggs are having, white bread with it or pancakes and slabbing butter on top. Keep the carbs low, stay active, and enjoy healthy fats with protein.
