Consider the thought! As long as your communicating, you're highlighting that you care via investment. The hook becomes you're chasing the change that will never fall on your lap. As long as you remain in the loop you're radio signaling permanence & abandonment is unlikely. *Experienced it with a BPD partner & similar dynamic with my mother

E.g.: “I’m feeling sad/miserable/down and therefore someone else deserves to feel that way too and therefore I enjoy it because they’re getting what they deserve” or something along the lines of envy? Which could then be equating enjoyment of others’ miseries/schadenfreude to ‘misery enjoys company’. (Edit: and maybe that would be the essence of ‘pathological schadenfreude’/what makes it pathological) It’s a shot in the dark but I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on it

Bulgakov repeatedly called himself a "mystical writer". According to contemporaries, he was, on the one hand, charming and modest in the circle of friends, damn smart, he could even seem cheerful and easy. But at the same time, his inner life was not revealed to anyone. Sometimes he surprised everyone with his ability to predict the future - the main example is his prediction of his illness and death long before 1940.
