Hi, Just bum into you video. Quite like your more "dowm to earth style" of talking. I used the same set up as you. A GX9 with a 15mm f/1.7 lens for travel amd street photography. Did not have the 35-100mm but have the Lumix 45-150mm. Got it cheap but is 2 stops slower at the long end. Might just get tje 35-100mm like you. The brighter lens may save many situation in lower light situation like in a concert or pub. I think this combo is perfect for carrying around everyday. My other favourite camera for street is the Oly TG4. It is very responsive and has more stealth. Surprisingly, the inage quality is super good considering it has a tiny sensor. What I like is its all weather capability which the GX9 lacks.

I try to follow the rule of always carrying a camera cos you can bet it's when I don't that I see the best opportunities. Substituting a phone camera doesn't work for me due to shutter lag and the screen being too sensative, firing off photos all over the shop.

I agree Paul! I love the physical inputs with a camera. I'm an extremely responsive person to tactile feedback and camera bodies just make it so much more enjoyable than a phone. I think I'd love the Fuji X cameras just because of the way they feel alone 😂

This is partially why I've been seriously contemplating a point and shoot camera... Well, at least that style - something small like the GX8 or GX9 paired with a short lens is also something I've been seriously considering.... And some sort of "it'll do anything" kind of bag (aka let me stuff camera gear and daily stuff in it), with quick access for the camera being a big thing in whatever bag I get to replace my current one (cheap AmazonBasics sling bag does the job, but getting gear in and out of it is nowhere near quick, aaaand you can't even hold a water bottle, or a packed lunch in it). Thing is though, I really do like my larger(ish) camera bodes like the G85 (and I at least loved how the G9 felt in my hand at the store - same with the GX8), so to me it feels almost like a toss-up as to which way to go. Something like the X100F (or LX 100 II, even if it's a zoom lens) is tempting as all sin though, due to that precise, portable nature of it all. But the GX8 is definitely tempting, assuming there are any left in stock at camera stores once I have cash set aside for one. As for out and about... I definitely agree. Soooo many opportunities in places most people would typically put their cameras away... Especially transit.

Hello, Wulfe 🤗 You just have to own the camera! Taking photographs where ever you go is lovely, especially when I look back and it sparks so many memories! Which I need because my mind lets things slip away too easily 😂I certainly know what you mean about the bags! I have 2 tiny sling hip bags that can fit a camera and a lens in them. They're nice but I wish I'd have gotten one that did it all. Between me and you, I bought a 2 camera leather holster for having both cameras on me ready to use at any moment😅 I haven't gotten to use it yet.. VERY excited to try it though! It was made in Italy, I'll have to show you in a video 😊 Go for the GX8 if you liked it! I'd have gotten it over the GX9 if it wasn't several hundred euro more expensive in the camera store 🙄

@@CreativeConnor When I started out four decades ago, I didn't own a real camera bag, just an Army Surplus Ammo Pouch to hold my zoom lens, if needed. Back then, the camera (big and heavy Nikon F2A + Motor Drive + Battery Pack) had been always on my shoulder (pointing back & downward, the Nikon School method) and ready to shoot. As for a modern compact walkabout camera, I'm looking at the Leica Q. Something different from my usual DSLR with integrated battery grip.

Good video my friend. I take my camera everywhere, now i have to work on taking shots of folks without looking like a creep. I currently shoot with a Canon T6 so ita kinda hard to hide. PEACE from ATL ✊🏾

hahaha, I've said it before but if someone sees me taking the shot, I hold the camera and stay still, making it look like I'm still shooting and after a few seconds, they assume I am not aiming it at them!! Works all the time 😜📸

Excellent video! And it has actually slapped me right in the face. I am that lazy photographer - I never used to be, like you I wouldn't leave the house without some photo gear. But then I suffered an injury, and I was shooting FF at the time, the carrying of the gear became more of a chore and a pain, literally, than the images were worth. I've downsized considerably over time, through Fuji, and now M43, so I don't have that excuse anymore! what stops me? hahaha, I LOVE cows!! 😍😍 I know they're everywhere in Ireland but they're so funny 😂 very nice shot btw! Super crispy ❤️ I just make a point of it.. I'm sure people think I'm weird but I think it's weirder to buy a camera and leave in on a shelf collecting dust when it could be living it's camera life to the max and snapping exposures 😎 I have faith in you!!

I plan to head out a lot more come new year, not shot much at all very recently bar family snaps, busy playing santa on side an' all that. I get a bit down when I haven't uploaded anything to Flickr in a bit, feel like the gear is wasted on me, so I am determined to change that

oooooooooooooooooh my! I'm a strange creature though.. I shot all the (video and stills) on the PanaLeica 42.5 F1.2 📸📸 But I don't always.. because I like to use one lens when I go out and just try to work with it!! So it might be the 15mm, 25mm, 42,5mm, or my zooms 12-35/35-100! I don't think there's a right lens for it but I'd take something like the 15mm F1.7 😊 What would you pick?

@@CreativeConnor if I had my choice of that lot, the 15mm would probably be the first choice and I'd love to give the 42.5 a go. Think it would be an interesting challenge to work with in tight spots.
