i am planning to change my camera from lumix g85 to gx9. what do you suggest? I work on photos and videos. In my opinion, the g85 is lacking in photos.
lens design is hard. very hard. competing technical compromises at every step. every new lens is an evolution. priced to suit a market. having said that, the 9mm f1.7 should not have leica branding (plastic body and no quick MF)
Hi, Connor. Thanks for the interesting video. I have a couple of G9s; one set up for video, the other stills. For video, I use the Pan 12-60 (couldn’t afford the Leica, but mine gives lovely images) and its weight, with mic and screen attached, is enough for me for a day’s shoot. I have a gimbal and a cage, and a day’s shooting with them lasts perhaps two and a half hours. Without cage or gimbal, I can pace myself for a whole day’s shooting, and that’s with the screen and mic attached, plus the stills G9 on a strap. MFT has extended my photography into my dotage. I have a little table-top tripod, light in weight, that I brace against my chest to give quite stable video, even short pans, and the stabilisation in my editing software, Resolve Studio, compensates for the shaky bits. I look rather silly, with some peculiar stances when filming, but a plus point of age is that I don’t care what others think. I agree with you: minimalistic is good. I wish I’d discovered this before I bought my cage. Thanks again.
Happened to me 5 minutes after testing it. At first it was fine. Didn't change anything and all of a sudden it started producing this extremey annoying sound. How is this so common for a brand like Røde?
Just stumbled on your videos here. These videos were super helpful to me - thank you. I hope you don’t stop producing content (I see that the last video produced was 3 years ago). You’re really good at it and I like your presentation style. Keep it up man, would love to see more content from you.
DOn't you need permission anyway if you target specific person instead of group of people in public anyway to publish their photo anyway? One way picture of group of people in public place, other photo when main subject is a one person in the frame?
@@OchaFauzan01 check laws in specific countries. being in public is one things. being recored (targeted) and your image published in some countries is forbidden. The law around the world isn't always the same as in US.
i was lucky to know some of my friends are photographers, they always said that, if you own a leica either lens or camera, as if you own a ferrari. That how good they described to me about the quality of Leica. They also said, If you own a Sony or Canon, they are just same level as BMW and Mercedes. Those products could never be as par with Leica. So earlier this year i bought GH5ii bundled with PL12-60mm. Love it so much although there were times, a temptation to replace the lens with Olympus 12-40mm lurking into my mind. But i could not do it as i like the versatility of the lens's focal length. i shot in low light in 60mm at f4 several times and it was not bad at all in comparison with f 2.8. Plus it has stabilization built in the lens and that also helps in low light. Thus, i decided to stay with this lens.
Just got in to Street Videography. I mostly use 42.5 Nocticron, but sometimes I want just a touch wider and pretty often I want a little more telephoto. I could switch to my Leica 25 and Olympus 75, but it would be nice to have the zoom range to quickly adapt. I am seriously thinking about the new Leica version coming out soon. Thank you for this video.
This camera has a recording limit of just 30 minutes, which is very bad when I'm filming long-term events, and it also heats up a lot. The camera is excellent for photography, but for working with videos of event and long interviews, it is very bad because of the recording time limit of 30 minutes, and the camera turns off every 10 or 30 minutes.
I love a review where you show what the camera can do through your work! Im so bored of the talking-only reviews, all i wanna see is what the camera is capable of! Thanks :) I just ordered the GX9 along with the 15mm f1.7, to accompany my pocket Ricoh GRIII X Cheerz!
An easy fix for the EVF. Just purchase the Panasonic Eyecup for GX9. The view is still 16/9 but you will have a clear view at what you are shooting even in bright sunlight. Thank to that I love using the GX9 EVF.
$500 for a new GX9? What a score! Just purchased a used one with the P 12-60mm lens used for $699. An OK price. I know I’m going to love this camera. Have the GX 85 and it is a winner. I debated about the purchase. I wanted a2nd RF style body so I could use two focal lengths without changing the lens. Maybe I should have bought a GX8. The the used market for GX85 bodies has very low prices. Just ordered some Wasabi batteries and another charger. I loved the GX85’s IBIS and L monochrome D. The body is small and light. Was surprised how small & light the kit lens is. Have the PL 15mm lens for street photography. The improvements are incremental over the GX85. With this two body kit I can walk the streets all day without my neck or shoulders crying. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
Thank you for the GX9 videos. Similarly I have a G9 and am thinking about the GX9 as a second camera. A feature that I use is the 2X and 4X electronic zoom. Is this also on the GX9?
Great Video! I watched this about a year ago and got the 10-25mm with my G9 and running a full spec corporate production company. Loving it. Would be interesting to see an updated/long term review from you!
Yes, but the S5 at about the $2k in L mount changes everything for stills photography. Combine it with the L mount Lumix 85mm f 1.8 and it's probably all you need for fashion and portraits, even for a pro. Only a Leica lens would be better but that costs $5k. If you are serious about videos then the GH6 is a better choice, as is a proper video camera with a cine lens like the Lumix BG-H1. Hybrid cameras just make too many compromises.
I bought Rode wireless Go ii and they did not work right out of the box I was distressed I think Rode has quality issues man seeing this video is another confirmation stay away from Rode
It's worth noting that the larger body with a smaller MFT sensor allows for two other advantages compared to cameras with either smaller bodies or full-frame counterparts... 1) outstanding in-body stabilization and 2) better heat dissipation. Outstanding design.
... it is an option for me too. i have the g9 and the lx100. I like both, but for travelphotography the G9 is much to big for me. But if the lx100 is again falling down ( it is my second, the first fall down from a wall in Carmel Mission ) i will buy the gx9 or a successor. Thank you for your nice video. i like to see more videos from you. Sorry my English. ... from Tirol , Austria
Great video and images. I'm contemplating this lens over a 40-150 f2.8 due to its compact size (i have the 50-200 4/3 lens for when I need to go longer but the AF speed for moving subjects isn't that great). Thanks again.
Nice review but I respectfully suggest you try the four year older Fuji xe2 it blows the gx9 out of the water. Simplicity of use quality of the image evf is better body is lighter batt lasts longer than 5 mins and quicker to charge you have far more control via dedicated buttons xc35 is cheaper and sharper than the Lumix 20 1.7 or 25 1.7 colours are better on Fuji cams the Lumix has more silly bugger functions but for normal photography the Fuji wins got both of them so this is a balanced view but the gx9 is not bad
Sent mine back today. Bought it in late 2020. Got first interference in the signal couple of months ago when connected to Amek CIB. Tested with 3 different Amek units. Same interference every time. When connected to MixPre3ii I never had any issues with this mic. It sounds really great and performs great in any environment. I love the sound. Recently I got myself zoom F3 and got that same interference in the signal. Then I decided to do all the tests with everything I have. It turned out it’s the NTG5 that is producing this interference. For some reason it always works when connected to MixPre. No issues at all. It might be something with how phantom power is delivered to the mic. I wonder if this is still happening with new ntg5 units and if anyone found the reason for this interference yet? @connor - how did you resolve your mic situation?
I need help!!!! I switch from window to mac and everything work but not the keyboard shortcuts I programed. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.
