Welcome to Season 2 of The Wilderness Living Challenge. As last year, the rules are simple, come out as heavy or heavier than going in to crown ourselves victors.
This year we decided to be more mobile and we came in ready with a plan. Find out if we can put turn a year's worth of experiments and learning into success and thrive in our epic journey of survival!

Great Job fellas! That was one heck of a catfish. Sending love across The Great Lakes! Chris only lost 5.2 pounds and Jeremy(AKA The Air Fern) lost 4.2. I can't believe it. I have lost 10 pounds in 4 day. My goodness you guys did good.

Better than last year, so that's good! I'm not sure how much people realize...the work we did, and the iregular meals...mostly we worked all the time, burning wood, butchering, keeping meat from spoiling, moving locations, etc. Very little time to relax. Plus, we have very few carbs, so that's water loss right there. I lost almost NO muscle this year...compared to massive amounts last yer. I was good and strong just 1 week later, rather than 2 months to get back last year!

Yup it's a lot of work and irregular meals, plus very few carbs. Maybe we'd plateau at some point...Jeremy is running out another 4 weeks eating similar foods. He's posting the results on his channel.

The only disappointing thing in this is that its over again for a while, Absolutely a success I think, seems that if your dropping weight on a diet like that then your bodys are just levelling out, eventually they would def hit a balance point. such a great series, thanks for all the effort !!

Great job guys. I like what Jeremy is doing on his channel. I'm with you on minute 4 about wild game preparation. I think too many people try to cover the awesome taste to fit there mundane taste buds of processed foods. I always liked the taste of elk,antelope, mule deer, havalina and so on just they whey they are. I have had beaver and it is awesome. Once again great job

Yeah, I can't really understand the problem. Maybe some animals need to have a go over with their scent glands. I know there are prob a few times where I bit into one or two and got a mouth full of wild animals LOL, but usually meat just tastes like meat.

You can see why spices were once a huge commodity. Do you have a method for rendering off the beaver and bear fat? If you could store that it would be an amazing calorie source (and pretty good for frying catfish in). Your main issue is carbohydrates.

Neither of us do, but Grohmann just sent me a survival knife which is meant for bushcraft. We just don't have time to do any crafting...too busy finding game, fishing, etc.

Still lost weight after all that food... what I take from this is just how much sugar and fat must be in our regular diets. Enjoyed this season a lot especially with the variety of game you guys processed. Good luck on the bear hunt!

Yup it's the carbs I think. We only really started to get good meals by the end. Most days we only had 1 meal or so...but hardly any carbs to speak of. I think that is really the key. I would imagine at some point just fat and meat would help us stabilize.

I agree, some of the recipes for wild game are total bull crap. They often talk about how you have to cut off the fat, or soak it in salt water, or do something else or it is too gamy. Sometimes that applies, but a lot of it is TOTAL BULL CRAP. Often the meat and fat tastes just fine if cooked as "normal" domestic meat. How have your de-monetization problems been going? I haven't posted any new videos for a while, so I don't know if RU-vid has calmed down at all, or if they are still blocking everything they possibly can. By the way, how do I get a hold of you directly. I'd love to have a good chat with you.

I'll say this; I normally won't watch a vid more that 8 minuteslong (what's the decimal equivalent? oh well, who cares.) RARELY I'll watch one that's 11 minutes long, IF it looks like it will be interesting. My time is precious. I watched this vid all the way to the end. One more thing: a skunk is one of the 2 or 3 animals I would NOT eat..unless I was starving. Then all bets are off. Guys, keep doing this stuff.

It's like beef, but wild ! Similar texture and yeah, it's a fatty meat so it's tender.

I suspect you guys are just losing some water weight/stabilizing at a healthier weight; even if it was the same overall amount of calories, I think switching away from refined carbs & processed foods would lead to some weight & excess fat loss.

Yeah, for sure. I found that I lost a lot of fat, but not much muscle this year compared to last year. Carbs is a pretty hard thing to find in our neck of the woods. Jeremy continues the diet on his channel, so it will be interesting to see how he makes out over a longer period of time.

GREAT video as ALWAYS, Wanted to mention, the weight difference is also due to the EXTRA SODIUM from the SALT and seasonings compared to last season. More Sodium in body = more water weight retention. Keep up the good work :)

I've been following the series since the beginning & really enjoying it. I noticed that you're not taking advantage of all those different types of greens around you that I'm spotting. They seem to be abundant, which in a survival challenge would be most beneficial, don't you agree?

Most of the green is cellulose and we aren't designed to eat it. There are probably some plants dotted around that would make food, but it's mostly for the micro nutrients and fiber. Key in survival is the macros, fat, protein, carbs. We could have used some of it, but time is tight, so we focused on the most important first.
