Hi Brice! Not like the Calico bite we had at the barge that day...lol. I was hoping for a good halibut. I lost a big fish on the light line. That could have been my legal this year. Oh well, still plenty of time left in the season.
Thanks bro! Still want to get up there. I've just been so damn busy. I want to do a Catfish video at my mom's house soon. Think you could make it down?
Hello Mr. Phil I live in Santa Ana, CA and just started to learn how to fish. Your videos are awesome very informative on how to setup a carolina rig. Can you help me how to get there to the dock?. Any directions how exactly to get there? I would love to get live smelt to catch halibut. I only tried frozen anchovies but had no much luck. Thanks I advance for your info. Gracias 👍
Hi Edwin. I was having some issues with my Facebook account. Here's the directions. From Santa Ana, 55 South, to 73 South, exit Jamboree and make a right. Follow Jamboree down over the bridge onto Balboa Island. Make a left on Park Ave and follow it till it dead ends at the dock and you are there.
Hi Luis. It depends. I'm able to hand launch my boat, so I can launch just about anywhere. When I go in my friends boat we go to the Newport Dunes launch ramp and it's $20 to launch but includes parking.
Hi Lt. Dan! Yep. I drop small pieces of bread off the dock and the smelt swarm. I then drop a line down with 2 size 16 gold treble hooks and a small weight. Then just jig it up and down where you can see them eating the bread. The smelt bite the gold hooks.
