I really enjoyed the directors cut. It's just a shame you cannot get it on 4k. The one downside. Hopefully sometime in the future it will happen

Like I said in the video Gary it is the perfect sequel. It gave me everything and more. But you also get that nod to The Shining particularly at the end when they get to the overlook Hotel. The 4K release actually elevates the movie as well particularly it's sound. As for the edition itself yes it does have its issues which is a bit of a shame but it will never ruin my enjoyment of it. I was waiting so long to get this and thankfully it was worth the wait. A huge thank you as always Gary for taking the time to stop by and check it out. Have a great weekend

That could be probably one of the most fascinating fun facts I have ever read. Honestly I never knew that. That is absolutely incredible. Yeah it was always going to be a tough act to follow the shining but I think Mike Flanagan did a wonderful job. It's somewhat easy when you consider how good the book from Stephen King is. I never read it myself but my partner Ellen did and she was telling me it was very faithful to the source material. I never actually noticed the missing panels if I'm completely honest. The fact that Stephen King was behind the novel plays a huge role in why this movie is as good as it is. I honestly never knew that was Henry Thomas. When I read this I actually had to check it. He actually done a wonderful job

I was absolutely over the moon when I heard about Mike Flanagan coming in for the next Exorcist movie. It'll be interesting to see what he does with it. The Shining and Dr Sleep back to back during the month of October. Sounds good to me

To be honest I am more than happy with this edition and I have no intention of buying any other release for it. It's been a long time coming but it was worth the wait

The Director's Cut is definitely the way to watch the movie but unfortunately it's not on 4K so whenever I do watch it I normally watch the theatrical. Hopefully the directors cut will get a 4K release sometime in the future

Really enjoyed this 1 mate. Ridiculous that the 4k had no directors cut, I got the usa edition so it came with the 4k directors cut code.. That been said I'll always watch the disc ahead of any stream . .

At least you have the option to watch the director's cut on 4K Ian. I'm sure it will happen someday where we will get the 4K release. Until then I am more than happy to watch the theatrical

Hey Stefan. A few people have brought it to my attention and I cannot believe these words are coming out of my mouth when it comes to a nameless media bust but I am going to say no to this release. I don't know what the movie is like and going by the cover it looks a little too rough for my liking. I'm almost certain it's very expensive as well which is a shame when you consider how small the actual piece looks. But thank you for the heads up. I'll wait for the next one

Yeah there is so much they could have done with this edition. Don't get me wrong I still think it's absolutely astonishing but I can't help but feel somewhat underwhelmed by it as well. Thankfully it's not a regular occurrence from filmarena.

Unfortunately when it comes to Filmarena there is nothing I can do because these Editions are years old. Everytime you see me do a video on a filmarena release 90% of the time I bought it on eBay.

It's a great movie David. Me personally I wouldn't put it ahead of The Shining but it's not a million miles away

It seems to be a regular thing when it comes to extended cuts. They always seem to appear on the Blu-ray and you know as well as I do sometime in the future we will get a 4K release with the extended cut. To be honest I don't think it was licening issues. I think it was a lack of creativity. It's amazing to think it's one of my most anticipated releases from filmarena but it's my most underwhelming one. Don't get me wrong I still love it but it could have been better

@@millerman9991 i totally agree. Such missed potential. The movie delivers so many good motives. I just have all the other Filmarena releases in mind, with completely different booklets, cover art, art cards. This one basically uses 3 artworks and just put the 2 WWA steelbooks in it. Licensing issues would be the easiest explanation though. Would also explain why no other label tried to release a premium edition. Got myself the Lenticular back then. Dont want to miss it, but ahhhh.... such a shame.

@Badvision it's a bit of an eye opener this release because I didn't fully look into it. To be honest even if I did I still think I would have bought it because I think it's a wonderful release. But when you do stack it against someone of the other Editions that I have it's definitely the most underwhelming

@@millerman9991 maybe it’s because I had a stronger reaction to the ending of the book. Either way, I’m happy some people love it. Loving movies in general is always the best. I love physical media. Nothing beats it.

@TakeScareMedia you weren't the first person to say that they were somewhat let down by its ending. I never read the book myself so I didn't have that to worry about. In terms of physical Media I couldn't agree more with you

@@millerman9991 I get it, there was a section of the book where we had no idea he was sick. Just under the weather. But once he got to the still burnt down hotel from the first book, he released the sickness and took out the baddies. That were waiting to strike. It was such a great surprise. In the movie he deals with them at the RV lot. And the it goes into fan service. Oh and for some reason, I had it in my head Rose the Hat was black in the book. That’s how I saw her. King has a way with his descriptions.

The Movie Was Good But Did Not So Good In Theaters Of Which Was A Surprise 😮 It Has One Foot In The Book 📚 And One In The Kubrick Film Version of The Shining!

I never read the book but I'm surprised to hear that they toned down that scene because it's very hard to watch even on the movie. I can only imagine what the book must be like.

To be honest I listened to the audiobook😊. Some of the main differences are of course the way Rose dies ,the size of the true knot (quite a few more members) and the fact that in the book Danny and Alba are truly related.
