And didn't she say something about putting a hole in the head of the one she loved. I'm pretty sure she was talking about Vision as well during Infinity War.
I think it's more so that they never mentioned him in another universe. Like how there is many other universe's that Wanda has kids in but Vision is never a part of the picture.
It's funny how you say that. I get how Sam is now Captain America, but I liked him more under the name Falcon since it was unique to him for being his own thing. Captain Falcon feels more like a suitable cross between his titles since I still want the Falcon uniqueness tied to him.
One thing I loved about the film was its absolute lack of shame towards the comic book lore regardless of how convoluted or alienating it could be to people who purely consume the films Hearing Mr Fantastic talk about incursions and Strange name drop Chthon as well as fight Shuma Gorath and use the Darkhold were absolute highlights
Thats one thing that ive been thinking about for a while too. They could have had the Illuminati characters be *implied* to be those characters but not be explicit is what I was expecting but straight up having them in full costume just existing was a huge surprise and shows how Raimi wasn't afraid to just have characters like this show up.
This was such a Sam Raimi movie. Very entertaining and fun. It was like a cross between Spider-Man, Evil Dead 2, and Drag Me to Hell. What's great too is that there is a reference to Strange in Spider-Man 1. So ironic lol.
I found this movie almost boring tbh I feel like it was lacking in action a lot there’s just something about magic users it’s like it hey never actually do anything cool just wave their arms around and the story really wasn’t keeping me glued to the screen I actually wanted to leave 20/30 minutes from the end but maybe it’s because the cinema I was in was way too hot and uncomfortable I dunno
It was both Wanda and the Darkhold. All the Darkhold does is corrupt you and Wanda was already broken. Even Doctor strange is willing to sacrifice anything for the safety of the universe and the Darkhold corrupts him to take it to the extreme. I do agree about it sooooorta being a weak motivation. I think the addition to Vision being part of that family would have been that extra step to make Wanda go extreme
A friend of mine who lost his kids saw it as VERY believable, because he was in a very dark place right after the fact and he could 100% see himself do the same thing if it meant he could bring his kids back. Also, it was a bit of a trigger for him.
@@Langsuyarman no I find it believable 100%. I’m just speaking on the character Wanda herself. It would have been stronger if her “happy ending” included Vision too.
The whole point of wandavision was coming to terms with the death of vision, which she did at the end of the show. What she didn’t come to terms with was her kids, she knew they were out there somewhere.

I had no problems with wanda killing the illuminati. It shows how powerful shes gotten and where she is as a character and her arch. Plus it confirms that the fan 4, inhumans, and mutants all exist in the mcu now.
@@trashsombra2793 you only say that bc rami said he made the movie 30 mins shorter than what it was. If he didn’t say that nobody would know. Just enjoy it for what it is or don’t.
Like the first film was tho honestly(Still perfer Scott Derrickson over Rami for Strange but whatever)I think it's just cause he uses magic and not another punchy guy in a suit tho....
But u gotta realize Max is a casual Marvel fan from what it seems…I could be wrong..so he doesn’t know much bout them comic book continuity and how powerful Strange really is..
Kenny thinks her motivation is weak but. Wanda lost her Brother, Husband TWICE and her kids....what has being an Avenger... a "Good" guy done for her ? Cause nothing but pain.
Right there with you. She went through some shit, like she's doing her grieving all wrong but she's been fucked over more than anyone else. Did Kenny not watch or cliffnote Wandavision because he seems to have so little understanding of grief and loss of what small happiness she tried to force for herself snd her fucking desd husband brought back.
I hope the consequence of Scarlet Witch messing up the Illuminati universe is Franklin Richards. And Clea's mention of the incursions may lead into Secret Wars.
Sam blames himself too much. If Spiderman 3 sucked is because the executives wanted Venom no matter what. He did a great job. Regarding the movie, I liked Wanda being the bad gal and how her motivation was flawed but 100% human. There's truly nothing more frightening than an angry mom. Steven's instrospection regarding his happiness during the entire movie was very good specially for me since I have lived something similar last year. Am I happy? Thanks to you guys, I've healed a lot from that. Thanks. America (fuck yeah!) was very likeable and hope to see her again.
I have to disagree with one point. In Wandavision, Wanda is definitely a villain. Enslaving a whole town but with “good intentions” does not mean she is not bad.
It’s a 8/10 for me. It was a great movie! When Professor X came in the Illuminati room, I heard the X-Men Animated Series them in the background! That pierced my heart and gave me the feels. I DID NOT expect Mr. Fantastic! That was cool seeing John Krasenki considering there has been fan art of him and Emily Blunt as the power couple of the Fantastic Four! I can’t wait for the FF to appear in the MCU!🤓👊🏾 🎮 (4)
Don't worry about the multiverse stuff ending because it is definitely not. They are definitely setting up Secret Wars and we have multiverse projects coming so we will see more
It's funny how Everything Everywhere All at Once is considered a "huge" movie, but not a single time did I EEEEVER see a single trailer for it, but only found out about it because of an interview with Ke Huy Quan did on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Hell, I don't even remember seeing a single "poster" for it. It's very well reviewed and those that have seen it in the limited theaters it was released in have sung it's praises, BUT those people are few and far between.
It is her and her grief but it was also the book the darkhold amplified her emotions and blinded her just like sinister strange and the strange from the illuminati universe
Apparently, that wasn't Shuma Gorath. Toy solicitations reveal it's actually another giant tentacle monster (forgot the name). Definitely confusing though.
I only watch the first teaser they drop and that's it. Watching anymore spoils it for me and messes up my yt algorithm so it ends up recommending me EVEN MORE trailers and TV spots
I didn’t know that Raimi didn’t do the majority of the writing. I was sure that there were scenes he must have written. My favourite parts of the entire film were the obvious Raimi-bits.
Just came back from it. You can definitely tell it's a Raimi movie. There's parts it just screams Evil Dead and no Raimi movie is complete without Bruce Campbell cameo. But did it annoy me in one part (you probably know which part I mean). 37:06 Haha, been so long since Simmons had to act "RICHAAAAAAARDS!!!". 51:28 That actually was what Illuminati were stopping in the comics. They've been going around killing universes that would collide with their own and it led to Secret Wars 2015 event (the one with God Emperor Doom) and it ended with Ultimate universe being gone and Miles Morales moving to 616.
This is where I complete my marvel journey. I'll make a variant cameo during secret invasion. It's been a good ride. X-Men is too far away to keep me around.
About the other marvel movies being grounded, that was the goal Kevin had. The reason Doc took so long to make is because Kevin was terrified of throwing too much magic at the average viewer too quickly. With the whole time heist of Endgame and the Thor movies, the cork on the crazy has been popped and the average marvel viewer should be primed to deal with the weird shit of these Marvel stories.
That is something I've enjoyed about these movies, is how they started so grounded and progressively got crazier. Heck a lot of the best comic book stuff is the weird crazy stuff. I'm glad we're at a point where they can get as ridiculous as they want.
SPOILERS: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 26:47 Not exactly, Simmons. They explicitly state that "good" Wanda (she still imprisoned an entire town) is buried mentally inside her own mind and professor X confirms this. He even says that if he can unbury her, then she will be in control again. The murderous kill spree Wanda is the Scarlet Witch corrupted by the Darkhold.
That Wanda is actually the 818 Wanda. Our Wanda was controlling her body so that'd why she's trapped under the rubble. Our Wanda was just easily corrupted because of all the events that took place before.
@@gamerforlife3946 Not at all. This is just multiverse stuff. In the comics 80% times when a multiversal variant appears they're cannon fodder regardless of how cool they are. This doesn't mean we'll get a main universe Reed Richards. Obviously we will.
@@afxboc So an excuse for bad writing? The smartest beings in marvel universe underestimate a person with power that she can’t control properly…. Yeah very believable, after all power > mind in this kind of logic lol.
@@gamerforlife3946 ??? What did you expect to happen? First of all, Reed Richards being owned for acting so "smart" is very on line with the character. And there's no bad writing on this at all, did you just missed how minutes before the Illuminati members were more worried about Strange? They see him as the threat because their Strange did horrible things. While their Wanda, the one who has kids and lives normally in her house, seems to have a normal life without causing problems to anyone. That's why once our Wanda confronts the Illuminati, Reed tries to convince her to stop. The Wanda they know doesn't seem as powerful and they probably thought they could take care of the situation without much problem, but overestimated her and died. I don't see any problem here, dude. I mean, I'd have liked seeing them having a longer fight, but Black Bolt and Richards were caught off guard (in part due to their arrogance) and naturally, they didn't last long when you're facing someone so powerful that doesn't care if you live or not.
I've been a Sam Raimi fan for 30 years, and I thought this movie was ok. Just bc it has the elements that makes Sam Raimi the director that he is, doesn't make the movie amazing. I dunno, I never followed the comics which feature Dr. Strange, America what's her name, and scarlet witch, so I def. Don't have any strong opinions on the movie in that aspect. I actually fell asleep towards the end. I didn't know what I was expecting to tell you the truth. Just that it's, an ok movie.
@@rodriga1985 This, so much this. I think they gave Raimi way too much freedom here. He is great at some stuff but man does he suck at knowing when to slow down, basically reduced what was meant to be a pretty impactful movie for the MCU, to just borderline Parody film. People in the cinema on day one were laughing at serious stuff and silent at the "comedy" moments, was so awkward.
I kept waiting for the house of m Charles Xavier quote. Of him telling Wanda to put it back. Put back reality. And him putting he down for a little bit. But still soo good
Oh i got answer to Magic guy with limitations its because the time stone isn't in strange possession anymore 😁👍 just like when parker ask him to go back in time 😄👍
@23:50 I literally said oh fuck when Wanda killed that character. Like I was like is this rated R. I'm just glad it went there tbh. That felt like the most comic book thing marvel has done.
I did the same thing, it makes it even better. I got Shuma-Gorath spoiled in a pre-show quiz that the theater was projecting right before the advertising started. Kinda salty about it, but it in no way hurt my watching experience. I just wish movie theaters didn't do that :(
What I love. - How scary Scarlet Witch can be. - Wanda’s line delivery. - The horror elements worked for me because of how terrifying Scarlet Witch can be. - Chavez’s portal visual was badass. - Anson Mount as Black Bolt was my highlight out of Illuminati. How they display his power was freaking awesome especially in theaters. What I didn’t love. - John as Reed Richards felt miscast. - Chavez didn’t get enough screen time because she was a plot device. - Strange was okay, he didn’t evolve as a character compared to Infinity War. - The climax although was good, to me it didn’t feel big in scale. It didn’t have to be big in scale to be great but it felt small and emotionless. - I liked how they used the Illuminati but they didn’t have to be in here. We could had used those minutes to further Chavez or Strange’s character development. Overall for me its a 6.5/10… Olsen as Scarlet Witch made the film for me.
It actually wasn't Shuma-Gorath! It was Gargantos. According to a statement made to ComicBook by Heroic Signatures, the owners of Conan the Barbarian and his related characters, they own the rights to the name 'Shuma-Gorath,' and Marvel Studios simply didn't ask if they could use it in the movie.
I wish I could be that excited for Avatar 2 but I don't have this "I am here for the visuals and soundtrack and all that stuff only" and not care for characters and story. A movie tells a story with characters and if they do deliver that in a good way (nothing amazing of course, just good) than I would be more excited, but when I think of Avatar 1 all I can think of is "awesome 3D", "Visuals are cool", Na'vi and Sigourney Weaver was there, but no clue about the name of none of the characters and the story was ok-ish. Never watched in the theater btw, so I never saw the amazing 3D, but I don't feel like I missed much. Anyways, glad you guys liked DS2. I didn't watched, I don't think I would have enjoyed that story so I stopped caring about the spoilers, so I am glad I didn't spent money on that. I will watcgh it when it comes to D+
28:00 Hahaha You were looking for Vision: bro I was looking for Stark 🤣😂🤣 none of these alternate realities (Especially 838: the Illuminati verse). 838 had Ultron sentry's and no Stark....wtf lol Tom Cruise isn't that busy!!! 🤣😂🤣 But yeah, while Wanda was dream walking or something, you'd think she'd run into the "Magic' Vision at least. Odd choices. This was a Mother's day weekend movie and it's clear why lmao but wow, no love for Dad, huh? 😔😂😂
you guys should watch EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE. Its the superior multiverse movie that has come out in the last few years. And in my humble opinion should of bee the multiverse film that had the wider release.
My personal takeaway from this film is that with the inclusion of Richards and Black Bolt it has me hopeful the MCU F4 film is going to be a redemption introduction to the inhumans. Really hopeful that alot of the lackluster marvel shows will get proper justice. Fingers crossed for Finn Jones getting a do-over as Iron Fist in Shang-chi 2: Deadly Hands of Kung Fu
Something I noticed: Wanda’s psycho mommy motivation in the movie, movie released on Mother’s Day weekend, Multitude of Madness is “MoM” abbreviated. Also, they showed the Living Tribunal! I personally loved seeing how strong our MCU heroes are after Thanos. This Wanda at her current level would annihilate Thanos all by herself. I’m going to give the movie another watch to see what I missed.
Just seen it and I dabble in the comics a little but I don’t get why comic fans are so upset it was a fun movie and trippy as hell loved the darker and more gore driven stuff
This movie was basicly the House of M she change the all marvel universe to get her kid and later after she depower most 99% of the mutant on the Multiverse, and later they sons look for her
I watched "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" 2 days before I watched "Doctor Strange". They are both multi-universe movies so I could not help comparing... and I must say "Everything, Everywhere" was a better movie by a large margin.
The only real similarity is the concept of a multiverse. Otherwise they are completely different films in terms of tone and intent. It's not really fair to say one is better than the other.
@@Riggs_The_Roadie you are right. It's super different actually but my brain instantly pulled to the other on those scenes with fast transitions between universes. Im probably being unfair here though because they are really different tones, as you said. So I'll stop comparing.
I will say this, and I am 100% agreeance with Simmons, if you aren't dropping mad coin on Avatar: Way of Water, then you might as well just pirate it and be extremely underwhelmed. Avatar really set the bar for how movies should be shot. I mean, name me one other movie that wasn't animated that was as good, if not better, than Avatar in 3D? I can count all the movies that were on par with Avatar and that was Alita...AND GUESS WHO HAD A HAND IN THAT MOVIE?!
raimi couldn’t say shit sbout the movie but he had bruce campbell talking shit for ages about cuts reshoots and marvel making them tone shit down so yeah no this movie if it had a directors cut probably had a darker harder rated version
I don't think it's over guys lol hope not...I think Wanda's power comes from the demon that created the Darkhold in order to corrupt Wanda enough to eventually use her as a vessel to take over reality. She needs to use more of that chaos magic tho in future films to make her whole body dark and corrupt...not just her finger tips like we saw in the film/trailers. :)
You gotta realize that movies aren't actually comics. In the comics characters always come back because reasons, but here actors really do say no and leave. Yeah, a new Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are totally gonna show up at some point, but it's not gonna be the same actors.
I don't mind Wanda going ape shit, that was cool, but Vision having NOTHING to do with it really bothers me. Like those kids were BORN in Wandavision. She had them for what, a week? And they were part of her ideal life with VISION. The fact she went absolutely bananas for the kids specifically just doesn't feel right, when the whole plot of her show was her doing what she did becuase she was stricken with grief after Vision died. Show was called Wandavision not Wandashitkids.
This movie was one of the best MCU movies for me. I LOVE IT! This movie is the beginning of Secret Wars. Do you want to see the meeting of several multiverses? It's going to be in Secret Wars and not a Dr Strange movie. The incursions that is quoted at the end are the multiverses collapsing. And what Kenny said about Wanda. She was very faithful to the comics. For those who don't know Scarlet Witch is extremely influenced and weak-minded in the comics. Did you think she's fucked up here? It's exactly how she is in the comics. Super powerful but easily influenced. And here Wanda has just come out of a grieving process and immediately loses her children that she never had. So... yeah. She's pretty fucked up in the head.
