I just didn’t like the entire Disney trilogy. It’s kind of in the prequel territory for me. I liked most of Rouge One but the things that made me like Star Wars again are the Mandalorian and Jedi Fallen Order. I’m cautiously curious in the future Star Wars films. I’m mostly just happy that this chapter is done and behind us.

44:28 the fact that Rey is related to another known character make the universe seem small. I would have preferred that she wasn't related to anyone, to show that anyone can be someone special, no matter who you are.

At least the prequels had a solid arc with a detailed follow-through of how the Empire (Sheev) rose to power and Anakin's fall from grace. I don't know what this film brought into the franchise.

4/10 movie. It's the definition of high budget mediocrity with a script written via council, than by an actual writer.

i feel like Max felt, The Last Jedi made me not like Star Wars anymore. Then my gf bought me Jedi Fallen Order, at first i only played it because i didn't want to be mean. hadn't looked up anything on it and, well, the studio had that stink about them. So with my lack of interest in Star Wars and my lack of trust in EA to make a good game, i was shocked and loved Fallen Order! There was a new hope! Then I watched The Mandalorian and that spark of hope ignited. i was back in! So, i have rewatched 1-5 including Solo and Rogue One. will watch 6, 7, and yes, even 8. And tomorrow i plan to watch Rise of Skywalker. Sorry for the life story, if anyone bothers to read this, you are awesome.

wait so is it canon that palpatine used the force to impregnate shimi skywalker? did he do the same for rey, and would that make her kinda distantly related, which would make reylo even weirder.

I didn't like all the retcons and stuff. This movie broke a lot of stuff in canon, and nullified a bunch of cool things I was hoping for. Everyone seems to be happy that Rey is a Palpatine cuz she 'can't be that powerful and be nobody' but seem to forget the Force is a living thing, and it balances itself out. As the dark rises, the light shall come to meet it. It doesn't make me mad as much as the other stuff (Poe was a navy pilot, not a spice trader!!) but it's indicative of JJ's whole attitude going in: appease the fans and build on the visual aspects of the last movies, but neither of the two sequels really mattered so let's not continue thematic elements in this movie. I mean, for all the hate of TLJ, and love for the Luke scene in this movie, people forget Luke has found not just redemption, but peace at the end of TLJ, setting up for this kinda Force-Ghost appearance. For all the talk of Finn's force sensitivity in this movie, people forget that it was already perfectly set up in the first movie of this trilogy! That coulda actually been paid off in this movie, rather than retreaded! They brought back Palpatine with no reason other than to appease fans and give a so-called reason to Rey's powers (once again, ignoring the in-canon reason for such an occurance). They introduce characters like Zorii Bliss just to fill in characters backstory and make canon. And the worse, it feels like it has the lowest stakes of any of these movies! No death matters, everyone comes back, and in C3P0's case, it becomes a joke that he doesn't really die! Unless we don't care about them cuz, in Hux's case, they're war criminals and kinda lame. I'm not gonna say it's all bad. Making the decision (that I hated) to bring Palpatine back made for some good visuals when Rey used Force Lightning, and the eventual confrontation between the Dark and the Light at the end. There was a lot of good, corny Star Wars humor! It introduced a new lightsaber color!!! BUT! All of this style was given to us, at the cost of real substance. The characters are still rad, but, outside of Rey and Kylo, they don't really do anything, change in any meaningful way, or really even say anything fun. The movie is only watchable for the action and the actors' own charisma. And before someone calls me a TLJ apologist, I recognize that the whole 'fan service give and take' thing is real. As much as I loved TLJ's plot and characterizations, there wasn't much to attach it to the rest of the series, outside of tearing everything down. There needed to be a balance, which I felt TLJ was actually kinda trying to thematically push the finale in that direction. I wanted Rey and Ben to come together to make a truly Grey Jedi Order. It just felt natural. But, yo, nothing honestly was planned with this whole sequel trilogy thing, and everything ends up feeling so disjointed that, like someone else here said, I'm not so much as angry, but disappointed. It just sucks the fanbase is so toxic that nobody of skill wants to come in and add to this universe. We're never gonna get an Aronofsky Star Wars, or even a Luc Besson. I'd really like that Besson-take on the world. But everyone's so damn toxic to Rian Johnson for trying something different. I mean, hell, Lucas himself said 'why would I make another if everyone always hates me for it?'

It was like a big fireworks display. Cool to look at. Enjoyable, long as you don’t think to hard about it afterwards.

Future movies need to distance itself from this trilogy. Still plenty of story to be told before Ep.1.

Funny thing is the owner of Disney came out a day later after Kennedy said there wont be any more trilogies and contradicted her right away saying that there are plans for next trilogies.

This movie really just proves Disney’s incompetence, miss management, and most importantly arrogance. Arrogant because they thought they could peddle out these films with no plans or management and over compensation of merchandising. Believing that people were just going to keep their mouths shut and buy it.

I left the theater feeling nothing both times. It was basically junk food: a bunch of cool special effects and great production values, but nothing thought-provoking or incredibly memorable. It was basically Buck Rogers with a budget. The Rise of Skywalker reminded me of how South Park parodies goofy action or sci-fi movies with bad scripts.

4/10 - that's as high as I can get, any higher than this only gives me the shill feels. The only good things that came out or will come out because of this movie that I can think of, are the Red letter media memes and their upcoming review, and the best thing is, those stuff won't cost a dime.

It's not called "The Last Jedi" because of literally being only one Jedi remaining, it's called that because it's the last movement of Jedi that still exist. Much like The Last Samurai. The title isn't about the last actual samurai, but the last movement of samurai during the era. Jedi is both a singular and plural word.

3/10 this entire Disney trilogy has been bad fanfiction with a budget. As far as I'm concerned the Disney trilogy is not canon.

It's mentioned in one of the novels that Leia gives up on her Jedi training in order to focus on her job as a senator.

Before j j Abrams took over this movie the writer/director was the dude who did jurassic park, he had the title Star Wars- duals of the dates and had concept art that looked fuck sick. But I still haven't seen this movie so I can't say whether or not his version would have been better

I have not yet seen the movie and I do not expect much from it, yet I will give it a chance and therefore I will see this review, regardless of spoilers, just to know if it is really worth going to the cinema to see it.

You guys GOTTA start doing things like this in podcast form with higher production quality.

My guess is that Disney is going to mimic the MCU by building a new Star Wars series of movies that occasionally culminate in big cross-overs. Hopefully they set the next movies super far into the future so everything from Ep1-9 is just mythical legends.

If you turn your mind off, grab your popcorn and sit back, Rise of Skywalker is a thrill ride for sure but as a Saga ending Star Wars Film, it's way of the mark with some many plotholes. I still think the best two Disney Star Wars Movies are Rogue One and the Han Solo Story cuz they are standalone complete Stories.

My only complain with the movie is that i felt the final order should have done major damage during the movie and didnt. I was expecting the star destroyers to take out like 5 planets at least.

Being force sensitive doesn't make you a Jedi. Luke was the last actual Jedi since he was properly trained by a jedi master and he dies at the end of the film. Leia and Rey were still alive but they never became full fledged Jedi well at least not Leia technically the force ghosts dubbed rey a Jedi so I guess she is the last now

Spoiler alert: How I wish the movie ended is Rey conforms to Palpatine, turns to the darkside, which results in Kylo and Rey having one last lightsaber duel where parallels are drawn of how Rey saved Kylo after she stabbed him, Kylo does the same for her. I mean.. we already have the connection of Palpatine's Granddaugther and Vader's Grandson using their master's lightsaber; Kylo uses Luke's, Rey uses Leia's, so why not actually give these two an emotional battle of Kylo knowing what it's like to be manipulated by the darkside and uses that to persuade her to come back to the light. If not that then.. At least have Rey use her Palpatine bloodline of force lightning to actually electrocute the shit out of Palpatine with her spare hand rather than dual wield the lightsabers.

I can see why Max wouldn't want to read reviews before seeing the movie but honestly the reviews helped me to enjoy the movie more than I would've natively. After hearing the reviews I decided this is a movie best viewed with my brain off; and it was. Once every hour it would automatically boot back-up but once I started questioning things, I remembered and turned my brain back off XD I guess it depends on who you are. I wanted grey jedi, and a whole bunch of stuff that JJ wasn't having. So knowing this was the Star Wars Apology Tour ahead of time allowed me time to process and prepare. Like knowing if you're going into a comedy, or a documentary, you wanna know before walking in so you have the right mindset lol

Its finally over. Good riddance. I’m so glad that I’m from the generation that experienced the original trilogy at the theater for the first time. Those experiences were magical and could never be reproduced by those who’ve seen the films after the original run on VHS/DVD/blu ray. Same experiences with Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Blade Runner, The Thing, Terminator, Terminator 2, Aliens, etc. That was a great time to be alive.

Last jedi killed my interest in star wars. That is until the mandalorian showed up. That show is great. Rise of Skywalker wasnt that bad, I went in without any expectations. Liked it more because of it. Definitely the best of the newer Disney movies, next to rogue one.

I've been reading EU books since grade school and The Last Jedi made me more excited for Star Wars.

Poe and C3PO was the best parts about the movie. Everything else felt fast-paced and sudden. No build up at all and the lightsaber fight was bland af.

Momma JJ set up so many gifts for the Star Wars Family. A great number of mysteries and questions for others to answer. And the fan base started running with it! We started speculating, theorizing, practically fighting over the gifts and got so focused on those questions, Papa Johnson got angry. And instead of reminding the fans that Christmas is about family; and movies are about the journey. These questions are gifts to make the journey more rewarding; but directors aren't shackled to answering every single of them. (No no no far too rational) He decided to wait until momma JJ went out of town for week, and took not 1, not 2, but all the presents momma set up, placed them under a large blanket, called everyone outside and proceeded to run over those gifts with a steamroller, while the fanbase cries out in horror. Daddy Johnson: Guess what!?!?Christmas is still coming, we're still a family and we're still going to celebrate. Now got back inside! 2 weeks tils Christmas Momma JJ comes back and see what Daddy did....*Exasperated Sigh*..."I'll be right back..." Christmas comes and Yay! Mom managed to find 1 more Wii. But all she could afford was bass fishing and wii sports (which is free and may come with a fishing game lol). And dollar general not quite 'Power Ranger' toys like the ones you said you wanted, and she likely meant to give you the first time around. But Kathleen Kennedy saw fit to make Johnson the Daddy so here we are XD. Longest and Best Metaphor Yet!!!!

The next movies should be one offs that connect like the MCU, set it in the old republic but after the games but before Darth Bane. Gives the universe a chance to grow a bit instead of just being the heroic Jedi story and there will be no legacy characters to ruin. They can have all the female and gay representation they want, just don't use it as a way to bash men and straight people.

It's kind of disappointing that the internet just can't have nuanced opinions. People can't aknowledge major flaws without saying the movie is hot garbage because if them. People either hate on the movie for everything or defend everything wrong.

I didnt really like this movie. Its really bad BUT there were a few moments that was really good. Such as Luke and Leia training, Ray actually had good scenes too despite still being a very flawed character. I still find the lightning scene fucking stupid despite it being cinematically cool. Luke is the son of Anakin did he ever force choke someone? No, why is Ray shooting lightening? All because shes the granddaughter of a Sith. Its stupid but I do understand it. One of the worst things about this movie is Finn in all honesty. This man was a straight horn dog the entire time, acting like an E-boy you'd see all over Discord going like "I get how you feel. Im depressed too, wanna date?"

The armada avengers scene at the end is super neat, there's a bunch of extended universe ships in that shot. Including stuff from Rebels and Fallen Order.

To me this was just a combination of damage control for the Last Jedi's fuck ups and a shitty high budget fanfiction. Even though the main cast go out on adventures together, I still felt almost nothing for them. Finn was still just there with almost no purpose. Poe had a bit of exposition, but still felt like a mostly pointless character. Rey is still the ultimate Mary Sue.

This has been the most positive review of Stars Wars yet. Sounds like for a casual movie watcher it's tolerable movie to see in the end. If they've learned anything about producing the movie, I guess the hope is to NOT rush anymore films for a while, at least in theory.

man the real big serious problem with disney star wars is the moment they reboot the series and ignore all the novels and source materials. thats the moment they lost all the road map and so many good stories. that was a big stupid mistake on their side. there was years and years of work and love there and disney just ignored it slapping fans in the face, locking themselves in a limbo with no way out of it. so it was expected i knew after the first film( which was like a fan made high budget remake of og first movie with bigger death star and better cgi etc.) that this trilogy would be a mess.

Was it a home run. No. Absolutely not. Was it fun? I thought so. It feels like... there was a good story underneath it. A lot of odd weird decisions that I don't agree with, but it felt more like Star Wars than TLJ.
