Missy really did die without hope, without witness, and without reward. The Doctor never even knew she intended to come back for her.

It's so cool that David Bradley has now officially gotten to play the first Doctor, not just via having played William Hartnel.

Bill and Puddle Ghost Lady will return in a new series from the producers of CLARA & ME called 2 WET GIRLS. Many non-whovians will find the title somewhat misleading.

I actually had to pause the TV and shout "MOFFAT!" when they did the bit about the dematerialization circuit. Of course there'd be a Moffat loop. Of course.

I'm calling it now. The first doctor's last words to Twelve will be "it's far form being all over". Also did Twelve's hand change or was it just me.

I cried a lot watching this... The last fifteen minutes just struck me down, repeatedly... I think it has its slow bits, but I enjoyed it a lot overall.

In the episode, they did a nod to his 4th incarnation when his previous companions saying doctor.

"She should have known he would have done that." have you heard of fixed points in time.

I love the idea of 12 and 1 meeting, as they are both the first of their respective cycles. I'm getting a Christmas Carol vibe from the next episode, with different incarnations of the Doctor acting as the ghosts of Christmas past present and future, teaching 12 (Scrooge) to let go. Also, I don't think that Missy knew she was going to die, but I think that the Master had worked out that he was going to regenerate.

You two have done so many reactions but this has to be one of my favorites. Always great to see others sharing in the experience.

Remember that the fifth Doctor held off his regeneration for an entire episode in 'The Caves of Androzani'.

Loved this episode! And I agree with Vanessa on Missy - The Master always lives on. I mean, yes, this felt like a decisive end for the Master character, but I think John Simm's Master said almost the same thing to the Tenth Doctor and he still regenerated. There's no doubt Missy/Master will come back, although, it will be interesting to see where this new path will take her.

I assume the more the Doctor tries to stop his regeneration, the more inevitable and powerful (backed up?) it ends up being. And "seize the day" will probably be a theme for the Xmas special.

It's cannon that when timelords meet theirselves, they forget.

I tried watching this for the third time. It's so emotional watching him holding off. For once the way we feel.

Everyone seems to forget that The Master controlled his regeneration. Ten begged him to regenerate and he refused...so.... Timelords can somewhat control and even refuse to regenerate. I called it last week when Bill was converted to Cyberman that the "Pilot" would come back and extract her from that cyber physical hell.... As for Missy.... of COURSE she will live on in some way. I feel like we will see her regenerate...the Doctor will somehow save her by gifting one of his regeneration OR the Timelords will pull a trick like they did with Matt Smith. This was the BEST finale of all time IMHO. Capaldi was genius and I hate to see him go. We only got one season without Clara and as I totally suspected it was FAR better. I loved Clara...but they should have replaced her shortly after we found out the reasoning behind "the impossible girl" references. It will be a lOOOOOONg 6 months till Christmas.

When you were saying Capali's Doctor was a lot older than Matt's its because in Matt's last episode he spent thousands of years on Trenzalore before regenerating so that's why he was older!

Excellent Reactions to, in my opinion, the best Episode of Season 10. The Pilot told Bill she could change her back to Human when ever she wanted for as long as she wanted. That suggest Bill may be back. The ending told me the Christmas Special is going to be a VERY SPECIAL Christmas Special.

In England, we have a sort of show where the new doctor is introduced some months before the Christmas special.

Your best reactions, hands down, was when the 1st Doctor showed up. As far as the episode goes, in addition to the many great things about it, I think the was John Simm's absolute best performance as the Master. My theory for the Christmas Special: Both Doctors (12th and 1st) will help each other come to terms with their impending regenerations (12th into 13th and 1st into 2nd). Also, in a weird way, this is the 'first' regeneration for both of them. For the 1st Doctor, it's the first regeneration of his original cycle (and the first time he's ever regenerated). For the 12th Doctor, it's the first regeneration of his new cycle of regenerations.

It should be criminal that they keep recasting the First Doctor when no one can ever replace William Hartnell... But damn it, I just love that the spirit of the First Doctor will forever live on! He's my favourite!

Clara was there in one of the memories of the companions calling out before he Wakes up so he does remember her still somewhere in his mind.

I cried so hard this episode and I definitely will the next episode. Peter Capaldi has to be my second favorite doctor after Tennant now

she could know as the time lines were out of sink so the master couldnt sustain the memorys so missy doesnt have them

I have this crazy theory that Moffat is preparing us for a cryfest episode this christmas. What I mean by that is after the 1st Doctor has his adventure with Capaldi's incarnation, the christmas special will end with the restaurant in space landing with Clara, Ashildr, Bill, The Pilot, and the rest of the doctor's companions all inside the restaurant wishing him best of luck on his regeneration. Anyone else think this is possible?

Here is an idea for a new Doctor Who spinoff drama series which I call (Beyond the Tardis). Other spinoffs have been somewhat restricted by having to rely on such things as a regular cast and being set in one place and time. Beyond the Tardis would have a different cast each week and be set anywhere in space and time. One week you could have a story about a previous companion and what they’ve been up to since leaving the Doctor’s side. The next you could have an origin story explaining why Davros ended up in a wheelchair, why the Sontarans start cloning themselves and what life was like for the Silurians before they went into hibernation. Plus there would be prequel and sequel stories relating to any of the past Doctor Who seasons, even those from the original run. You could have a story set before the Doctor turns up in London during the Dalek occupation, then have one set years after he saved the Roman family in the story (The Fires of Pompeii). The possibilities for this type of series are endless and give a writer the chance to let their imagination run wild. The Doctor wouldn’t be seen in it; though you may get to see the Tardis dematerialize at the start of a story and materialize at the end of one. Trev from East London, UK.

This was the best episode of the season. Possibly best episode of Capaldi run. I loved the cliffhanger. For the first time, I'm actually excited for the Christmas Special. I have so many questions. That I hope will be answered in the way I hope it will 1) When in the 1st Doctor's time is this? I was thinking during The Tenth Planet, but he seems a bit more active than he was during that story. 2) If it is set during The Tenth Planet, will we see the actor/actress who played Ben & Polly in Adventure in Time & Space make an appearance? That would be awesome! 3) Will Capaldi get his wish & have Carole Anne Ford appear as Susan? This can only happen if its much earlier in his timeline. I'm hoping for yes for any of them #3 would be AWESOME to happen. But #2 would be just as cool. I don't know if any of these things will happen I'm trying to avoid spoilers so this is all speculation. December 25th is soooooooooooooooooooo far off. Great reaction though. Even in 2013 I was hearing people say Bradley should play the First Doctor on the show. I agreed because as good as he was in the film, Bradley earned the right to play the First Doctor. And I'm sure he'll continue to make Hartnell proud.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but (possible spoiler) the first time we ever saw Capaldi in the role was him joining his 12 predecessors in saving Gallifrey in "The Day of the Doctor". Since that event hasn't been addressed, that HAS to be part of the Christmas episode.

I think it's sad to see that The Doctor didn’t want Missy to be good because she was his friend, he wanted to be good to replace him, which makes you think he's planning his own death for some time.

Guys, the final scene says a lot more! It was the final story of the 1st doctor when he regenerated at the hands of the Mondas Cybermen and the opening scene had the Tardis in the snow. Now we have the Doctor I would suspect is on the same planet, the 10th Planet!! Make of it what you will, it is up for debate. with a lot of previous references of his past lately who knows this maybe another one!

Remember when River Song gave him her regenerations? So the Doctor has lots more regenerations left, not just his originals

The final scene. This is just after THE Doctor leaves the Snowcap base after defeating the Cybermen in the 10th Planet at the south pole (set in the year 1986) and before he regenerates in his Tardis so we get two Re-generations in the Christmas episode.

Capaldi proves ONCE AGAIN how utterly UNBELIEVABLY GOOD of an actor he is!

They could bring Missy back, but from before she was put into the vault. Simm could return from before he got on the ship. And, Simm guessed that he would be turning into Missy, but she didn't confirm it. There could be a regeneration between Simm and Missy.

He actually remembered Clara albeit for a moment.

Gomez says she won't be back. She said she wants to always be Capaldi's Doctor. The Master will be back. He/She always comes back.

Not coming from me and I like the idea; It would be amazing if The Christmas Special is like "It's a Wonderful Life". In The Christmas Special, I'm certain we may see Clara again, to say a good farewell to Capaldi's Doctor.

in Matt's Christmas episode he started around 1600 - 1700 years old and was on Trenzalore for over 300 years for Capaldi's Doctor to b over 2000

The 5th Doctor resisted his regeneration so he could save the day So I don't know what the fuss is about

17:52 There are a lot of clues about timelord's vitality telling us that missy didn't die even if the master shot her with full blast. On the previous season when the doctor was locked into his confessionnal diary he said that even when they die, all the cells of a timelord's body fight against the death and so the body takes a loooong time before falling into decay and that's why they prefer to be burnt. And aloso in this season when they showed us how missy ended up in that box, the guy responsible for her execution said they were going to guard her mortal body for a thousand year, just in case it would comeback to life. So, i do agree, the master didn't die, he never does ! :))

Since learning that he takes the forms of other people he's met or saw at points in time like his current form is the reminder of The fires of Pompeii it's a double meaning for changing Gonna miss Missy so bad (*-* ) Can't wait for Christmas with 1 & 12 Still waiting for a spin off comic for Clara and Me adventures. Now that Bill got a similar send off she and her companion could join her diner TARDIS as a team.

About the Doctor holding off his regeneration, the Master did that to spite 10th in Last of the time lords. 12th might have just decided to die instead of regenerating as well.

there is a defined limit on regeneration the average time Lord regeneration cycle has 12 regenerations13 incarnations with the 1tth the time lords gave him a whole new regeneration cycle since he was in his last incarnation so that's 12 more regenerations
