a popular theory is that his name is his time stream, his whole life in one word. which is why noone can hear it. ths theiry states that since gallifreans write in time code his name is his time stream
I really enjoy Amy's dilemma over Kovarian's death. On the one hand, yes, that reality got erased, but Amy's whole life is basically remembering things that "never happened" thanks to the crack in her wall. That's how the Doctor is still here. Sorta wish they had done more with that
When I heard this scene, I had to go back and watch the full scene in the episode. I had forgotten that hearing about the Brigadier's death was when he accepted his death and decided to send the letters.
Hey Jess, one of my favorite parts of this episode is the dialogue between Astronaut River and the Doctor as she's killing him. It's the exact same lines that Ten and River shared at the end of Silence in the Library...except reversed. So Eleven says what River said in the library and River says what Ten said. Small detail that I just really love.
I love that tribute the Brigadier General. He was a major part of the original series, and the actor who played him had recently passed away when this episode was made.
The eye patches that the characters wore in this episode were also a little tribute to the Brigadier, who had an eye patch in the classic episode "Inferno".
Well, the British rank is "Brigadier" but the American equivalent is "Brigadier General" so I think it's fair to use when explaining to an American what his role in the show was.
I'm so so glad you love Matt Smith and feel so connected to him. He's by far my favourite, I just adore him. Amazing reaction as ever! Get ready for a hell of a ride, that's for sure ❤️
"its all still waiting for you, the fields of trenzalore, the fall of the eleventh and the question, the first question, the question that must never be answered, hidden in plain sight, the question youve been running from all your life, Doctor who? Doctor who? DOC-TOR WHO?!" i remember when i first watched this episode being so giidy from excitement and having goosebumps at that moment, loved it! and also amys "River Song didnt get it all from you! sweetie" line being just as badass as her husbands "would you like me to repeat the question?" line earlier in the series. Series 6 is a favourite of mine along with series 4, 5 and 9, and 7 has some great episodes look forward to your reacting, respect from LONDON
Man, what a difference your reactions are from this series to series 1, 2 and 3. It's like you needed the early ones before you emotionally committed to the show. And I'm so glad you have. Your reactions are probably my favorite for Doctor Who. And I so look forward to seeing them for series 7!
Did you notice at the beginning when the world was all wibbly wobbly with cars attached to hot air balloons etc. that Charles Dickens from the 9th Doctor episode "The Unquiet Dead" was being interviewed on the news?
Why are you assuming I'm being mean? Why are you assuming things at all, ask first. I'm just saying people can have bad memories because I didn't want to leave you hanging and wondering. I only gave you my opinion but I guess only your opinion matters and no one else does.
All Things Paper yeah it was just an earnest question. Plus out of the many little Easter eggs in this show this one is certainly more easy to spot. There was no need to get snippy.
After watching The Doctor the Widow and the Wardrobe (the 2011 Christmas special that's between this series and series 7) make sure you watch Pond Life before moving on to series 7, you'll understand more after you watch it.
Jim Fish Yes. This. Otherwise the beginning of series 7 is a big, "Wait, what? Did I miss an episode?" You don't need to react to them, but at least watch them for the context.
When you watch Doctor Who as they are released you know if its the last season because its announced, you are getting the doctor who experience most of us did not and it seems a lot more scary and exciting, very jealous xxx
not being sure of regenerations would have made the show much better for me, but I came in watching eccleston right as Matt Smith was doing press for starting his run. So I knew roughly that theres 2 regens to happen in 5 seasons I had in mind.
I was five when new who started and I got to watch it being unaware of when regenerations were happening. At least for Eccleston and Tennant but I don't really remember Eccleston too much, just stuff from rewatching.
Video was uploaded 8 minutes ago... it's 20 minutes long and there are five comments already... :p I guess I'll continue the trend of posting before finishing the video... EVERYONE. Jess just informed us she doesn't know when Matt Smith regenerates. DON'T SPOIL HER by mentioning episodes or seasons!
Another series ends! Not my favourite finale by a long way, but it is full of some brilliant lines. One of my favourite Amy moments... "River song didn't get it all from you, sweetie". Series 7 isn't a great series in my opinion but there are some AMAZING episodes coming up, so excited to see you continue this show :)
Well done for holding it together through this roller-coaster finale with a feeling of relief that were all still in one piece at the end. I completely agree, not the best but just a good entertaining whirling dervish to finish a strong season and setting up a little intrigue for days to come !
Amy is so badass when she kills Madame Kovarian!!! "River didn't get it all from you." Aaaahhhh! ❤️❤️❤️ So let me get this straight, Jess, you actually like the Doctor's beard?
You gained a new subscriber out of me. I found you through your agents of shield reactions and was so pleased to see you react to almost all my favorite shows. More importantly, your reactions feel genuine and you come off as an actual fan of these shows. You know more of the actors names in Agents of Shield than I do! And your Doctor Who reactions are so appropriate. I absolutely can not wait to see you go through season 7!
One thing that Stephen Moffat said in an interview, is that whenever there is a "Reveal" like how he escaped his death at Lake Silencio, as a writer you always want to leave the viewer with some unsolved questions for the following episodes. That is portrayed well in this episode.
You both make my day. So, controversial idea here Alex, but can I hit you in the head really hard and give you amnesia so you can freshly react to Doctor Who for us once again. Wouldnt that be lovely. the reaction again not the trauma, obviously
I've been waiting for this all week! 😄 The season 5 finale was def one of my favorite finales but I love how this season finale tied together with the first co episodes! Can't wait for your reactions for the next season! 😊
Ballooncars, right? Sign me up! I think it was clever the way they set it up so it feels like you're really missing something at the beginning. Then you find out, yes, you are missing something after all. :D It may be a little sadistic, but I love how nervous you get about all this. It shows how much you've grown to love _Doctor Who,_ and it's great to feel it with you. It's really fun to experience it with you being even less informed about what's going to happen when than many of us were at the time. My heart is right there with your cheers and tears. Looking forward to next time!
Sesska i just want to say to you how lucky you are to be behind on the show, you don't get any major spoilers and you aren't influenced by what the fandom might think about some episodes/seasons. It's why i love yours and other people reactions that are "catching up" because for instance many people think season 6 is bad but i like it. Been with you since season 1 and it's so nice to get pure reactions from somebody with no previous knowledge and see how the show has grown on you for what it is
I'm glad your nerves proved to be unfounded on this occasion! I was pleased and interested to see that you kept in the Nicholas Courtney tribute / death of the Brigadier moment, given it obviously wouldn't really mean anything to you. I have wondered if that story beat, of the Doctor having his moratlity brought home to him through the death of an old friend, works if you haven't seen the classic series and didn't know who the Brigadier was.
I think Sesskasays, that Nerd Brandon, and Torchwood Boy would make a fantastic podcast! But, now...on to watching the reaction! (Can't wait!) 00:38 - Wow, such emotion. Almost made me cry and we are not even at 1 minute! I really like that you are unspoiled by spoilers, etc. This is the true experience that, because of being a media junkie and also being on a podcast, don't have. Love seeing someone go into without knowing. 05:51 - My friends will always be the best of me! 06:29 - You know The Doctor - always a plan! 08:20 - SO creepy seeing that! 13:04 - LOVED This scene! 19:48 - Glad you enjoyed! Can't wait for more!
OH and after the next Christmas Special, please watch "Pond Life" the minisodes, they lend great context to what happens in the next series, I wont say anymore than that. :-)
Nobody's forcing you to watch her reactions, so why are spoiling a minisode which she may actually enjoy, and don't you dare say she won't, I mean you might be right but nobody will know what she thinks of an episode or minisode until she's watched it.
The Brigadier was a great friend of the Doctor's for a very long time; he was in charge of UNIT during the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Doctor eras. Just in case you didn't know
Next series is not so great but has definitely got some strong points. I'd probably say the same about series 8, but you've still got series 9 to come which is probably my second favourite series. There's so much still to come, God I wish you could just catch up straight away haha.
What you said in the begining of the video is absolutely normal, everyone has his OWN doctor and we all reacted like that when we were about to find out he's leaving soon. I may be weird but i felt like that for every doctor, but i must admit 10th and 11th were a bit above all, at least for now ;)
All of season six we were asking ourselves what the hell the oldest question was....and then when we hear that it was in fact 'Doctor Who?' we realise it was never going to be anything else.
I was feeling blue today, this video cheered me up. Thank you so much. Next season is a bit confusing as between the Christmas specials at the start and end, there is another midseason break ... with another Christmas special. There is also the 50th anniversary special before the last Christmas special. And a few *critical* minisodes along the way. Anyway, Christmas Special ("The Doctor, The Widow, And The Wardrobe") is next.
LOVED IT!! This is such a fun episode!! I agree that it's not the best finale, it's concept gives it a very disjointed narrative and that can make it hard to find a way into it. It helps that at the centre of it all are the Doctor and River! The nature of their relationship and who River is has been explored throughout the season, but the themes of forgiveness and trust are an important part of their story and this finale didn't forget that. There were some really lovely moments in this. I'm glad you enjoyed it and that you love this Doctor so much!! I CAN'T WAIT for your season review. They are the best. As (of course) are you! Thank you :)
Such an amazing reaction, its fantastic you enjoy matt smiths dr so much, alot of people dismissed matt before they gave him a chance to put his mark on the character, similar to what's happening now with jodie's 13th.. but i gotta say even though chris was my first doctor and i love his take i really think matt was 'my' doctor... miss him now
Just found your channel and I absolutely love your reactions. I'm a die hard Eleventh Doctor and River Song fan so seeing you worry about losing Matt Smith as the Doctor is wonderful (horrible as well because we do lose him but still)!
I'm surprised you didn't react more to finding out what the question was. I must be one of the only people not to guess "doctor who?" 😂 I was so shocked when I watched this ep and I felt so thick bc EVERYONE I know already guessed it
Jess the bit where the doc calls up the Brigadier and they say he passed away i could tell you were like huh? So the brigadier was the head of UNIT in the classic era and worked with the 2nd /3rd / 4th / 5th and 7th doctors : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brigadier_Lethbridge-Stewart This dude was a huge part of who success esp in the 70's :)
Great reaction! Every time I see you affected by the show, it reminds me how I felt when I saw it for the first time. I think Moffat realized the season ending was leaving some issues unexplored, that's why he created the "minisodes" I recommend you watching next: Good Night, First Night, Last Night. They don't have any spoilers about next season, but they are fun to watch.
You might want to watch the "Night and the Doctor" minisodes before moving on to the next episode. They're 5 shorts, 2 of which feature River. And, as others have said, after the next episode, check out the "Pond Life" minisodes that set up Series 7.
@sesskasays: I know you watched the Minisodes "Space" and "Time", along with the "500 Miles" sendoff for Tennant special. But did you watch the Special that took place in between Season 1 and 2? Granted with your distaste for Rose, you may not want to, and I understand. There's also "Tonight's the Night" featuring Jack Harkness that's kinda kooky.
When the scene of him leaving the room with the tesalecta, I said out loud, "I bet he comes back in and uses it to cheat death" When the scene finally played I literally jumped up and cheered lmao
In the 3rd Doctor story "Inferno" 3 gets stuck in a parallel universe where UNIT are evil and the Brigadier has an eyepatch -the eyepatches in this are a reference to this also
I hope someone behind the scenes is giving you the correct running order of season 7 episodes. I'm not sure where you're getting your streams from, but not all sites list episodes in the correct order, in particular the Christmas episode called The Snowmen that was broadcast between episodes 5 and 6. It's very significant that you watch them in running order. Just so's you know.
Loved your Reactions. Your next Episode is the Christmas Special, 'The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe'. Before you watch Episode One of Season 7 you have to watch the 5 Short extras leading up to it called, 'Pond Life'. They only last about 5 minutes each and start with April and end with August. Hope this is helpful.
They really, really aren't. It may well enhance her enjoyment to watch them and ours to watch her watching them but millions and millions of people enjoyed the next series without seeing those shorts.
I would disagree on one point. The last one, August, sets the first Episode of Series 7 and makes you want to watch Episode One to find out what is going on.
Only a fool would make that Statement. Without the Pond Life August Extra the beginning of Episode One of Season 7 makes you wonder what the hell is going on. I believe I did say similar in a previous Comment. The majority of People who didn't watch Pond Life watched it after watching Ep1 of S07. Very foolish I thought. They put those shorts in for a good reason.
Fun fact: The head in the box (Dorian) was originally going to be Captain Jack Harkness, showing his gradual progression towards becoming the Face Of Boe. Unfortunately, John Barrowman was unavailable.
I paused this at the 8 second mark, no matter the reaction, I am SO SO SO Happy we are at this point! OK, back to the reaction. Edit- Post Reaction- Nice! Glad you didn't have your heart broken on this day, Jess. Trenzalore is coming...
