Doctor Who 7x13 "The Name of the Doctor" - 8.5 (Reaction Mashup: Part 2 of 2) 

John Hurt was so excited to play The Doctor - I'm glad for him (and the rest of us) that he got the chance. RIP Sir John Hurt, you were a fine actor before there ever was a Doctor.

I love how we all just break when he turns around.

And with that, the internet went berserk.

My reaction was; "Eh...?" "I know that voice..." "Fuck! John Hurt!!" "What? WHAT?". I did theorise (incorrectly, of course) that he would be the _final_ Doctor, the "old man" who The Great Intelligence mentioned who died at Trenzalore. I thought that he'd be the main antagonist of the next series, not a 'bad guy' per se, just a man at odds with the current Doctor; an enemy who could out-think The Doctor, predict his every move because he literally _was_ him. And The Doctor would not only have to fight to stop him, but had to fight to stop _becoming_ him!

So awesome that you've made mashups to those reactions, so cool to watch them :D

John Hurt was a great actor. His repertoire in film was very big. He did a little bit of everything and had his hits as well as his misses. He endured a lot of makeup when playing the Elephant Man. He did animated films like Watership Down and The Black Cauldron. Most American audiences would recognize him as the first to die in the movie Alien. He was basically Sean Bean before Sean Bean as almost every character he played, especially if it was a villain, ended up dying. One movie he was in was based on actual events in the 1970's. It's called Night Crossing, a Disney movie that tells the story of two families daring escape attempt from East Germany in a homemade hot air balloon. Wonderfully done and a good history lesson on people wanting to be free. John Hurt passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. The War Doctor earned his rest.

.... I hate in some of these reaction videos people know whats going before they know what is going on..... in this case the girl pointing John Hurt 8.5, i mean its one thing KNOWING IT but KNOWING it and claiming it a reaction video is another.... grrrrr

Sad thing is, as good as Hurt was, his role was originally meant for Ecclestone. Imagine if he had turned around instead.

Just an opinion, The Gal who says" john hurt", The guy that says ten "turns into a cartoon character"(regeneration video) , and the other guy who says " Was she on the set of guardians of the galaxy " (11's regeneration) Completely break any tension the scenes have.

The girl in the fake react just ruins it.

i now think that it would have been a better reveal for classic fans if it was the valeyard somehow.
