They had a great opportunity to do a woman doctor with that story arc, it wouldn't have been weird or DoctorDonna could have been a eleventeen part miniseries and it would have been AWESOME. But noooooo they needed to make it weird.
Me too I honestly didn't except it! I'm surprised we got I am the Doctor but didn't get The Doctor Forever (despite it being in the Children in Need special). But maybe we did and I missed it, my headphones broke so it's a bit hard to listen to the music lol
@@OswinPond I heard obviously a couple times sections of the doctors main theme throughout the tdavies era but yeah, the doctor forever would be very welcome amongst the rest of these specials
Honestly surprised by the music. Seems like they're having Gold hold back on committing to the melodies of old. Anytime the music comes close to recalling an old theme, and pulls back again. If I were to put one word on today's episode's music, it'd be "restrained".
Oddball! Yeah fully agree, Gold felt like he was holding back a little bit in this episode. I hope for the next ones he goes back to being fully bombastic, that's how we love him!
Murray was burnt out on doing Doctor Who for so long so it's understandable to be doing some restraint on reusing old themes he composed ages ago. Perhaps he wanted to skim them over since everyone has heard them so many times over the ears and wants to do new and fresh stuff?
I'm glad for that tbh. the latter years of Murray's time with Moffat felt a bit self indulgent in the music he knew had become famous in the fan community. To be it almost felt 4th wall breaking
@@isack_hsThat was mainly a Moffat thing, as Gold has mentioned on a number of occasions. Check out the soundtrack for Day of the Doctor vs the music actually used. Moffat loved the "I Am The Doctor" theme so much, he liked it being used everywhere and even wanted it for Capaldi...
That part gives me goosebumps with the song came up made me think about 11 but Donna what kind of acting like him since she was the doctor for a moment😂❤ I’ll be honest the show was good. They did their best really they did. You have to understand the meaning of it❤❤
I hope Murray Gold can still deliver some new scores instead of re-hashes of the old ones, there's been no real leitmotif that connects all 3 specials together so far, which is a shame
While i love the actual music itself, this is not where it should play. That's 11th's music for a reason. It's like playing All the Strange Strange Creatures in a Capaldi episode.
All The Strange Strange Creatures does play in Capaldi episodes, Smith episodes as well! And you also had I am the Doctor in several Capaldi episodes. I think Gold just like his themes haha. Plus technically I am the Doctor is sort of from series 4
@OswinPond I disagree the familiarty and use in the right context is great! with all the ways the show and it's eras change. The It's the one thing that always ties it together for me.
"I Am The Doctor" plays in 3 different Capaldi Episodes though. The title is "I Am The Doctor", not "I Am The 11th Doctor". And "All the Strange Strange Creatures" did play in a Capaldi episode, and "The Doctor's Theme" (9+10s theme) played several times in episodes with the 11th and 12 Doctors=
This might be controversial but I REALLY don't like this, I like "I am the Doctor" as a theme but during the Matt Smith era it was WAY overused and this just reminds me of that, I don't want Gold to fall on bad habits again and this just feels out of place too since I Am The Doctor *IS* 11's theme, it feels out of place here.
I will mate, and I'll sit and enjoy the show more and more every week knowing that pathetic little people such as yourself are more and more ignored by the show. It's not for you anymore@@BigPriq
@@BigPriq Defend the Rocket wheelchair? You must've hated Davros' wheelchair with its anti-Dalek forcefield and lightning glove. The woman works for UNIT, I'd be more surprised if she didn't have one. I will admit the trans stuff got really forced and heavy-handed in the third act to the point where it took me out of the episode, but the rocket wheelchair was normal cheesy Doctor Who stuff.
