Does A tuning box actually work? Brand New 2021 Audi RS5 get's put to the test! 

Yeah I think it's a good option am I right in saying it can be flashed to use on another car if someone upgrades the car every 3 years.

@@awesomecars1 Yea exactly if it’s a good product why not. The problem I’ve seems with other tuners reviewing them is they want to make the tuning boxes look crap because they want people buy the more expensive custom tune from them instead but a custom tune is not needed unless your are making modifications to the car really. There’s some crap tuning boxes out there don’t get me wrong but some do a great job had mine for a few years and didn’t have any issues at all

We haven't tried them ourselves but we know a racechip will do more and is a quality product

Would be interested in the difference between race chip and tdi tuning box as I’m split between the two

I'm also dealing with the same issue. have a 22 rs5 and cant find a tuner that has cracked the ecu... very annoying..

@@johnr8601 Anything yet John? I am seeing that 034 motorsport in the US seem to have solved this, and it appears that Awesome GTI in the UK can do this ? I think I would prefer to see a few more tuners coming on stream before taking the plunge !

@@markramsay6399 I have not, but can't stand every time I give it the beans and I feel the power flatten out. It needs bigger power figures to really make this car wake up. I have used APR for the last 10 years with all my cars, and REVO. When APR or one of the big guys get it figured out, I will look into which one of those I will go with. I only do a stage 1 tune no a days, a little different from the past where I would look to go from the turbo back plus tune etc. Maybe i am getting wiser in my age.. idk lol..

@@johnr8601 I come from a Litchfield stage 2 C7 RS6. Best car I have ever had. Love the RS5 and needed the better fuel economy, but the RS5 runs out if ommff. The RS6 to 100 mph (where allowed) was so quick it took the breath away . Too fast to look at dials, just read the road. The RS5 kinda gets there in the end lol. Let me know when you have news , will do the same .Mark

It is a good gain of power over stock

We haven't yet had any reports of it affecting warranty but that's not a hard fact that it won't.

So far we haven't had any issues for warranty but again we can't guarantee it won't invalidate a warranty.

@@leekindell9937 that’s where I get confused. They measured stock at 424 which is 20 less than claimed stock by manufacturer. Is that common? I thought most of the hp figures were typically underrated. That’s why I thought the numbers were at the wheels.

It could be many factors for not making the stated power but as we've seen the stated figures from manufacturers aren't always exactly what the car makes.

Manufacturer figures are at the crank not wheels

Usually manufacturer figures are a little off than what the car actually reads on a rolling road.

Yep, manufacturer figures are not always accurate, usually they're more conservative than we find on our dyno but this came in lower than expected

This one didn't, no reason really could be the temperature of the day causing heat soak or anything else. We run it 3.times in stock and it ran a similar number

100% agree, every car is different and a custom tune cannot be beaten. on a standard car maybe you can get away with a generic tuning box but on a car that has modifications you really need a mapper who will spend as many hours as needed to map your car and obviously it needs to be a mapper that knows alot about your brand of car.

What makes you think that? The airflow design on the front of the vehicle is designed around the bonnet being closed. Air flow and cold air feeds to the enclosed factory airbox included. The results with the bonnet open or closed isn't really measurable when comparing factory components. The reason the vehicle's are ran with the bonnet open is really only for grounding purposes.

@@awesomecars1 I just thought maybe the engine is breathing easier . Airbox has more air to suck ?
