*To clarify, we're discussing jadeite jade in this video. The information in this video does not pertain to nephrite jade.
While natural jadeite jade will not change color in jewelry, some natural nephrite jade can change color in the first few weeks/months after being extracted -- typically from a blue/green to an olive-green/brown. This is called "revert jade" in the American carving community.*

My family is of Chinese descent and there is a belief that a solid jade bangle protects you from a fall especially for older people. When you fall the first thing you do is reach your arm out to the ground. Your arm absorbs some of the impact before the rest of your body hits the ground. The jade bangle supposedly takes the impact of your fall and shatters saving your hand and wrist from serious injury while helping to cushion the fall. This is why you will often see older Asian women wear a thick jade bangle. It's for safety!

@@bakhtbiland1470 1. Selling jade is about the same as selling any jewelry in the market. It’s the reputation, items you have to sell, and maintaining your shop that matters. You can start selling at Etsy, Ebay, Carousell, Facebook Marketplace, etc. That won’t matter as you’ll need to establish yourself in the market first before anything, show what jades you’re selling and your prices for them. 2. Sizes isn’t everything and the same applies to jade, you can have a large piece of jade, but if it isn’t in a desirable quality that customers would like it to be, then you won’t see any sales of it anytime soon. The finer quality pieces of jade as you know, comes in rather small sizes and yet it still demands a high price for it. So debatably the smaller and the finer (color and transparancy) the jade is, the better. 3. Price to Kg varies wildly for jade. Imperial green asks for high 4-5 figures USD as compared to Utility grade/Mid grade jade. This isn’t a straightforward answer either as demands for it has been soaring and fluctuating depending on the quality of it. Answers I gave is based on what I’ve experienced and have heard from fellow jade sellers and people with hands on experience with the market and jade rough gambling AND knowing they’re handling with natural, untreated jadeite. Nephrite is also jade and has it’s very own quality control that determines how much it’s priced. I really recommend you do research yourself so you can understand and learn more about the jade market if you wish to get into selling jade.

Though in this video it is mentioned that it's not supposed to change color but does it change color over time naturally if it's untreated and also does it have like a protectant natural sunscreen? Like does the Sun wash it out if it's under the sun for a long period of f time?

I have a 30 yrs old donut jade given buy my Korean Chinese friend. Its color is same as imperial color jade when i Google it when i place a light on it it is,very transparent on its side and a floatinf green at the middle..as i have observed it never changes its color..only the thin is when itwas given to me there is no certficate of authenticity..but what iknow it was 50 dollors it was 1994..thats why im always watching your vlog..cause i know i have a priceless jade..God bless🥰🥰🥰

I broke my Jade ring , not falling , or banging it on anything hard, I've done warehouse work with it on and it was so durable but it broke because I tried to fit it back on my swollen finger that day😢. I've seen videos all about Jade necklaces, pendants, bangles and cabochons but I've never seen a video about Jadiite or Nepherite band rings , if they break easily compared to the others type of styles and jewelry as well as price comparisons❤.

Hey Leron! Solid gemstone bands will break easier than cabochons. Similarly, a faceted jade stone will break easier than a cabochon too, because of the “point” or thin edge of the stone. As with all gemstones, the more that a stone has a “thin edge,” the more compromised the structure is on that part of the stone. We will totally do a video on jade bands! That’s a GREAT idea, thank you so much!

@@JewelsoftheTrade Hello!! That is so fascinating, the structure to the thin structure on the edge of the stone and it not being well protected without a metal setting since it's a bare stone. That makes so much sense. Oh really?!! That would really be helpful. I've been wondering about Jade rings durability , if you had a let's say imperial Jade stone ring would it still be more expensive or less expensive? I.e is it less expensive because it's in a ring form or does it retain its price in the stone quality and colour? Also does that make sounds and cling together like claims of Jade Bangles being tapped together making music? Also certain stones that could be made into these rings and their price ranges, since I've been seeing them at gem shows and their recently becoming a popular jewelry item for me and I've been collecting them since the pandemic first started with my first show that I went to. That would really be icing on the cake. I can't wait to see this
