Also agree with rinsing top down with pre wash. As a professional detailer myself having used koch chemi MSN + GSF, Bilt Hamber touchless, gyeon foam, Yum foam etc. they all work fine being rinsed top down. Especially if you’re mobile you’re wasting so much water rinsing bottom to top

I am so glad I have been vindicated and somebody in the RU-vid world agrees with me that rinsing Snow Foam from the top down is the way to go and as you say most of our cars are fully protected whether by ceramic, wax or sealants so the pre wash cleans the snow foam softens so the car is ready for a contact wash. My pet hate is the guys who use a really strong pressure washer with a tight spray about 6 inches from the paint. We are removing the snow with the softened grime not shot blasting off dirt at this stage. I do love a red car I bought my son a red Fiesta I had a red Civic Sport + until Monday replaced with a red Qashqai for carrying my electric Mountain Bike on its tow-bar and that is the second red Qashqai I have had in the last 10 years. I have also had a red Escort Si 1.8 and a red Rover 25 years ago.

Yep you are correct. 10 degree nozzle 1 inch from the paint. Most of the time people on purpose want to add unnecessary steps to stand out. After 5/10 minutes how much more dwell do you really need…

This is a really interesting vid Nick. I’ll be honest I’ve previously bought into the ‘it must be alkaline otherwise it won’t clean’ thinking. But actually you make some great points here that (if needed) you can add the layer of citrus first to hit the dirty bits, plus also if your car is protected as it should be then you shouldn’t need the alkaline cleaning power anyway. Really it’s all about doing the prep up front so that every wash is a maintenance wash even in our dreadful British winter

100% Don’t get me wrong, a person who washes the car once per 6 months needs a different approach, but people like us who was weekly and protect every surface to the hilt can also use other less aggressive methods and if needed mix a cocktail together rather than using a 1 hit solution

What dilution ratio would you use if only 500ml instead of 1L?

It’s obviously not that easy to create a good alkaline snow foam otherwise Bilt Hamber wouldn’t keep wiping the floor with the competition.

That comes down to what was mentioned in the video. 99.7% of companies do not care and will happily push out mediocre product just to say they have a snow foam. On the other point when you have to on average mix 1:1 dilutions it really isn’t that impressive let’s be honest here

@@YumCars you’re right it’s possible that you may require a 1-1 dilution to reach a 5% PIR if needed depending on your PW and foam cannon, better that than something at 1-9 that does nothing, and if cost is an issue use it in a pump sprayer at 5%, cheap as chips when it’s less than half the price of some, and that require another product underneath.
