This really upsets me. Young girls aren’t allowed alone in a room with a pediatrician and that’s one of the only people we tell our children to trust and expose themselves. But if your Mormon you feel fine with your daughter talking about her body or sexuality to a man she doesn’t even know well.
@China-Clay

I have told all my kids to never allow that, and then tell their kids to never get pulled in to an office, as a parent, you can say no solo appointments, but things are always changing and the kid will need to turn into a peep with their parents, just not a good situation

Hey, Josh, I’ve been loving this series, keep it up! You mentioned how Catholics also go to confession which is true but after hearing Jordan & McKay’s horrifying experience with it, I feel the need to clarify some of our differences. When we go to a priest to confess whatever sins we have, he doesn’t write anything down and is actually forbidden from even talking about it with anyone-he can be excommunicated from the Church if he does. It’s normally also done in a confidential manner where you’re in this funny little box where you can’t see each other. (To be fair though, if you’re an active member, your priest will probably recognize your voice so if that bugs you, if you think going to confession is important you can always go to a different parish.)
@micaelagauthier4964
@micaelagauthier4964 2 года назад
So if you're Catholic, it doesn't matter which parish (church?) you go to in order to make confession, even if it's not the one you attend services at? (I am not a Catholic but I am a Christian who is trying to understand how confession in Catholicism works)
@andreamolinar6883
@andreamolinar6883 2 года назад
@@micaelagauthier4964 Yes, we’re free to go to any Catholic church/parish we want to in order to do confession. Normally priests only hear confessions at certain scheduled times (at my parish it’s at 4:30pm-5pm on Saturdays but it varies depending on the church) so all you have to do is show up during that time & the priest will listen to your confession.
@louisafredriksson8561
@louisafredriksson8561 2 года назад
I also want to add that in Catholicism, you're not naming gritty details. You're naming a generic umbrella sin (impure actions with a boyfriend, etc.). The focus of confession in the Church is definitely more focused on healing and reconciliation.

I grew up Mormon and officially left the church three years ago. I lived in BYU housing while going to hair school and UVU and I “messed up” a few times with boys and I had to go into every single little hairy detail and it made me sick to my stomach. At the time I just went with it because I thought I was doing what was right but it felt so wrong. The bishops (two separate) would ask and ask details and pry further and further and it was sooo gross. Now I see how wrong it is and they totally get off on it. It’s so disgusting. It’s one of the major reasons I left. Like josh said, Jesus made it so we didn’t have to confess to anyone and it disturbs me to have to report to a sick old man and he gets to decide my salvation and worship and freedom. NOT COOL.

Excellent point Josh about quoting Matthew. I am enjoying (although I have my moments of WTF!) this series. I worry that Jordan is feeling the weight of living in a toxic area - wonderful that she has McKay, and each other. When one has to "go through" or "answer questions" to authorities, instead of Jesus, that's a cult, not a religion. Keeping files, spying, living in fear, shame - is a cult. Questioning children - parents may have their children taken away and here sexual questions are being asked without a parent or doctor being present is sick, simply sick. Passing on abusive elders to another location stinks of the Catholic Church. Sending care and support to all of you - Jordan, McKay and Josh. A HUGE thank-you for opening our eyes and being honest in Gods eyes too.

I was Mormon from the age of 18 till about 30. I am 38 now. My husband still is Mormon. He just doesn’t get why I find a lot of the stuff absolutely ridiculous. It was really hard for me even when I was practicing to buy into most of it. I love the man, but the fact he’s a scientist and still believes what the LDS church says it’s just fascinating to me. Full disclosure: I’m atheist now.
@1rage17
@1rage17 Год назад
You know, you can still believe in god without having a specific religion. & you can study different types of religious texts (Muslim, Buddhist, catholic, etc.) and not have to dedicate yourself to just one. What I like to do is say my religion is “universal” or open-minded because I just study different beliefs and just make them into what I believe is moral and just in my heart ☺️ but atheist is ok too, it’s just sad-ish to me cause believing in something bigger than yourself gives you this hope you just can’t get from atheism, I’m sure you can but I just don’t think I could live like that myself personally Maybe your hubby is doing the same thing with religion + science. I also believe in science/study it too, so it’s ok to be both 😂
@nute742
@nute742 7 месяцев назад
Interesting comments, and thanks for sharing your story. And you are probably right as LDS faith does have a lot of interesting things going on that (most others don't). Now as per the scientist components, your husband might be right (as per one high up Catholic priest said) Its either us or the mormons (who are the true church) Even south park has an episode that mentions that (lol). Seriously though as per "statistics" go - the LDS church probably has the highest chance of being right (than any other church) from a scientifically statistical point of view. Okay god bless and keep the faith :)

Are you going to cover the Gardner Quad Squad? There is so much to unpack with that family (the usual exploitation of their 4 daughters for RU-vid) but the most recent issue is a big one and they should be cancelled. Almost a year ago, the dad was caught sending inappropriate DM’s to underage girls. Some channels called called them out, they went away for a little while but the father is slowly making his way back to their Instagram and seemed to have no repercussions. It’s disgusting and the fact that all the Mormon influencers still hang out with them (currently on a conference with them right now) speaks volumes.

You guys are great! Jordan and McKay I've been having my husband watch these videos with me because, while I have told him the same things you guys talk about in similar ways, he understands it better coming from someone else. I ran, as fast as I could away from the mormon church when I was 18 and I've been out 31 years. The damage that culture did to me, and still does to people, is indescribable. I was sexually abused between the ages of 5 and 13...all at church....all at the hands of the local priesthood holders. The predators are well protected in that organization. I was made to confess all of it, as if I--the child in the situation--had done something wrong. When I was younger, they wrote out statements and then made me sign my little 5 year old name to it the best I could. When I was older I had to write it all out myself. Humiliated and shamed, doesn't even come close to how I was made to feel. And they keep all that in your file so if you move wards or get another bishop then they all have that information. The women in the Relief Society also have access to that information if their husband is the bishop--mormons LOVE juicy gossip-- and they make sure everyone knows it. They, in my experience, are just as bad a the men.

When I lived in residence at university in Newfoundland, we had room checks (called them room inspections) I think twice a semester but it wasn’t about the room being tidy (like your bed didn’t have to be made, etc.), it was more for actual cleanliness so we don’t end up with mice. What they looked at was the cleanliness (again, not neatness) and that nothing in the room was broken, no holes in the walls, no damage to the residences property. They also just checked to see if anyone had anything we weren’t allowed like microwaves since that was a safety thing. I hope BYU’s room checks were like this, not checking the neatness and cleanliness of the room 🙃

Did Jesus ask for confessions? Hell no! Forced confessions are nothing more than church efforts to pry money from their followers, saying give them money to have your sins forgiven, so you don't get outed and also don't burn in hell forever. Now that is serious black mail material. Disgusting!

I used to go to the lds “Mormon” church as a teen and I had to confess “sins” two or three times but I never had to write down a statement. But yep, still confessing to old married men. Luckily I don’t remember any of the bishops I had being creepy about it but I’ve definitely heard from friends of bishops wanting “details”. 🤮

Interesting. I am enjoying these interviews! A- wow, so pretty much all religions have fractures when they start. B- BYU is training a new generation of narcs. C- every time I watch one of these I want to go rewatch the movie "Orgazmo" again for the 1000th time.

The sexual confession talk, esp for women, gave me chills. It's disgusting and disturbing. And having to write it down and store that in a file for others to read....ew. its written p*rn.

I was raised mormon and escaped it 31 years ago, and I still have issues because of this very thing. They do this to children too. And don't let yourself be raped or assaulted in any way, if you are a woman or a girl child because you will be held 100% responsible for it. You will also be forced to "confess" how you "let it happen" and for your own responsibility in it. The predator is never held accountable. Ever. You will have to confess, verbally and in writing and you get asked things that are so vile it's indescribable. Even if you are a child.

This might explain what went down with Chad last year and how he was suddenly sent to the wilderness camp. It probably explains why that camp has so many Mormons sending kids there. Now late last year, Grandpa Griffith was made a bishop

My daughter goes to a Catholic (Jesuit) University. I can tell you guys some stories about their Honor Code. 😂 I went to a Public Uni and we had co-ed dorms. So boys and girls can actually bunk together. And that was in the late 90’s. It’s so weird how some of these schools haven’t moved anywhere since the 1950s. 😂

I went to catholic schools age 11-18. By the time I was done with high school I had lost my faith, my belief, alot that I had known about God. 9yrs later I'm just healing and trying to recover back my faith..churches are huge scams🙄🙄🙄
