I took the plunge and updated my G2 so far I’m happy with it I really like the new look and layout and haven’t seen any issues yet and the picture has stayed bright and not gone dark at any point yet with games or anything else I’m still testing things out, I have noticed that you can now play in all HDR modes when you have game mode on with a console connected 😮
I enjoy the new layout on my c3, so it's bittersweet what's going on with this update. Had they left the SM alone, I'd have updated the game C2 right away. Thanks for the comment!
@@Quik_Sand_TV yes they definitely don’t want people in the SM , I’ll see how it goes if I get any picture problems with the picture getting dark I’ll have to go in the SM but so far I haven’t noticed it yet I’ll keep you posted
@@Quik_Sand_TV I wanted to ask a few questions though. In the update i know you guys dislike that they removed SM. Which means you can't turn off ABSL. But I would understand that issue if I used my C2 as a monitor. But I don't. I use it for normal use, so for etc. I watch movies or play a game on my PS5. And I haven't had any dimming issues since the auto dimming update that happened last August. So im assuming that I shouldn't have any problems with this update right? Since my TV won't dim in those areas? My other questions is that I heard that people say that their TV just looked dimmer overall. Like compared to the previous update before the WebOS update. Also the update that I got is 13.30.55 and not 13.30.50 like you did! So maybe they fixed some stuff in that? The reason I ask this is because I care SO SO MUCH about brightness. So if it did truly dim my TV then thats a problem. But let's say im someone who disliked that update. (Which I don't, i do love that update). Can I downgrade my TV's firmware? Because on the LG Egypt Website (I live in Egypt that's why I was on that site) it still has 4.40.93 available to be downloaded. So if I put it in a flashdrive will it update back to 4.40.93 normally? Or will it not be able to do that because I cant downgrade? or what exactly. What is weird is that with 13.30.55 is that its exactly what you mentioned in your References on the LG Website. So is the .55 just different because I live in a different country? or did I just get a better more refined update than most people? Also in this update we got 4:4:4 Passthrough in the HDMI setting. Do you think I should use that with every device I have like Apple TV and Panasonic UB820 4K Blu Ray Player? Or just a console maybe like the PS5 instead of using PC Mode? What are your thoughts on this?
Hi guys, I have the LG B3 OLED TV and I got the service remote to access the service menu, so I can update the TPC and GSR settings. My TV keeps auto dimming during watching movies and shows (such as Dune and Bridgerton, for example). However, the service menu doesn't show the middle section, where I can access these settings sadly. Are there any ways to get to the TPC and GSR settings on the LG B3 OLED TV by chance? This is keeping me up at night. Someone please help!
Thanks to you, I know not to upgrade. Man, this sucks. I really wanted the new layout and some of the new features, but I AM NOT sacrificing tpc and gsr!!! Deal breaker 💯. Thanks for bringing it to my attention a couple videos ago! I got update .93 and took it offline.
What's tsr and gsr? I only use my tv with my ps5. I don't use my tv for anything else, I've never used the service menu ever since I bought my C2, so I guess that doesn't matter, at least to me. So I guess if I get webOS23 it'll ruin my tv? Lol.
@@TearsofJoy69er I actually made a typo mistake. I’ll edit it. I meant tpc not tsr. I was not happy when I was typing it lol. Tpc is temporal peak luminance control and gsr is global sticky reduction. They are the the 2 main settings in the service menu that cause the abl (automatic brightness limiter) which is the whole point of this video. If you have never used it then I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Going into the service menu and changing these settings carries the risk of voiding your warranty and possibly bricking your tv if you don’t know what you’re doing. People like quick_sand_tv and myself that knew the risks but refuse to deal with abl have fully accepted the responsibility of these warnings.
@@X1TheMachine oh ok, no worries, and thanks for letting me know/ replying back. So I guess I technically don't have to worry about upgrading then, unless it'll end up bad for gaming people? Haha. Then 2025 apparently the C2 would end up with webOS24.
@@TearsofJoy69er I’ll put it too you this way. If you have never noticed the abl or maybe you have and it just simply doesn’t bother you then I would say you’re perfectly fine/safe to upgrade. I’m not sure about weather or not the c2/g2 would get another os upgrade next year. It’s not real common that these tv’s get these types of upgrades to my understanding.
@X1TheMachine ok then understood 🍻. I don't think I have noticed if it has or not, but yeah, I don't even have 500h of the tv turned on yet/used, almost though 😅. Anyway yeah alright then maybe I will, or just maybe I won't. I'll figure it out if I'll be doing it or not.
i have a question, if i used the service menu to do some changes like auto dimming turned off etc, and now if i was to update webos from 22 to 23, do all my service menu changes get lost ?
Your changes will be lost. Moving to a different WebOS will put everything into LG factory settings. Checkout some of my other videos where I show the differences and how things are impacted. Thank you for watching!

I don't really understand why they have a Hard On for removing our right to disable their Auto-Dimming crap.....surely they aren't just doing it to piss people off right? I use my C2 as a PC Monitor and I'll tell you right now I was really aggravated when I bought it and the TV kept getting really dim and then suddenly brightening up. It's unusable as a Monitor or even a TV with that Auto-Dimming crap and I shouldn't need a service remote to turn it off in the first place and the fact they are now trying to remove it from the service menu altogether through a firmware update is just total BS.
for c2 buy proper router with https firewall and block lg update services urls and thats is, tv can be online without problem, recommend asus RT-AX86U Pro or similar, i have it with 03.33.90 and no more update notifications :)

Yo, i have c2 i keep getting a question to upgrade but im not sure.. i dont want my tv to become slower or lose quality what do you recommend? The tv still works fine so thats why i was postponing any updates
Great topic to bring up. I have not had enough time to evaluate the update as a whole to recommend to install or not. The new side/quick menu is a nice change, but haven't had a chance to evaluate content yet. Thanks for watching!
@@HGooDMorninG Hi! I can confirm that the update has not slowed down my C2 at all. If anything, it’s more snappy in the Home Screen, streaming, and Gaming menus.
