The Dollar Tree has name brand yarn! I took a trip over to the dollar tree and picked up a bunch of yarn and a few helpful knit/crochet gadgets that I know you're going to love. We take a look at each yarn and I walk you through my thoughts as I work up knitted and crocheted swatches of each. I found a couple gems you NEED to try!

I always use little notebooks and I LOVE dollar tree yarn. I have used it quite a bit. My local one just expanded it's yarn section. YAY!

I bought both Just Yarn and Tweed and I LOVE the tweed. I made a scarf with it and can't stop rubbing my face against it because it is so soft, just like you said! Can't believe this yarn is at Dollar Tree. You just convinced me to stock up

FYI UPDATE: Dollar Tree now charges $1.25 per item and all packaging is 1/2 in size of what it use to be. Therefore, figure $1.25 per skein of less than a useful size. I don’t remember how many yards in the skein before I rejected it, but I would have had to buy 5 of them for my project. Hobby Lobby and JoAnn’s always have great sales. Be sure to compare.

@@JustBeCrafty I bought some a few weeks ago the worsted yarn is 153 yrds per skein, the tweed is 98 yrds per skein and the chenille is 65 yrds per skein. I use them to make scrunchies. They are so soft...

I love that you know about cottonball phobia... when I feel certain fabrics it makes my teeth hurt in a weird mental reaction... totally unjustified phobia but one that is debilitating as a crocheter none the less

As I’m watching your video I’m crocheting up a baby blanket using the Premier worsted weight acrylic from dollar tree. I absolutely love dollar tree yarn 🧶 !!! I’ve been using the cotton yarn to make market bags and it works out beautifully. I’ve also used it to make cotton rounds and washcloths. My husband and I make hats for the homeless and this dollar tree yarn is wonderful!! Are use a 5 mm crochet hook with the cotton yarn it works up really well. So much for taking the time to make this cool video!! 💚😊💚😊

US Dollar tree is amazing and when I lived in Vancouver I used to go down to Linden or Bellingham and make stops at Dollar trees. They carry so many more brand name items than ours. I would LOVE to find this at the dollar tree. Amazing find.

Yes I use a notebook or paper anything that I can fine to write things down. I just found some yarn from the dollar store I love them you mentioned something about the acrylic yarn from crafters square the white color that feels like cotton I really love this yarn I made a cute little dress and a bonnet. They came out really nice the other yarns I made some headbands for the winter I love this yarn thank you for your tutorial

We have the cotton, worsted, tweed, and chenille. No sock yarn though. Wish we did. That is a beautiful color of sock yarn. I have made washcloths with the cotton yarn. I really like the tweed. It is really pretty. I got some in the navy and grey color.

My local dollar tree recently stocked Premier Just Yarn and I bought so many skeins I had to order a shelving unit from amazon to store them all. I knit a sweater dress using the green and meadow colors together. So soft 😍!

The track what row I'm on when I walk away from a project, I attach a little scrap of paper that I scribbled it on to a locking stich marker and put it on my project. I never trust myself to remember where I wrote it down unless it'll be right in front of my face.

Yes.............and I love their yarn, I have made all of the women at our church fingerless gloves with it and One skein makes 1 pair with a little left, which I plan to make a scrappy kind of afghan with them.

I actually use a Big Happy Planner (monthly to-do list layout) for my crochet notes and I love it! I am on the hunt of a crochet sock pattern too. I say that J Crochet recently released a cute pattern

I keep hoping I'll find some of the Serenity Sock. I've used it in the past and would love to find more for a buck a skein! Just Yarn seems to be at most of my local Dollar Tree stores on a consistent basis. I definitely prefer it to the Crafter's Square acrylic (how does that stuff feel so much like cotton?!)

I love their Just Cotton and tweed acrylic and have made a sweater, a shawl and a washcloth from the cotton and a hat from the tweed. However, I think it's more of a DK than a worsted so be sure to swatch.

Could you please do a follow up to this review, after you have made items with the yarn, and laundered them? I have found that Red Heart's Super Saver yarn (for one) softens up considerably after being laundered. I make baby garments, blankets, and scarves/hats etc for charity, so everything is laundered then bagged up before I donate them. I have been very surprised over the years the difference between the feel of a yarn just purchased, then after being laundered. Some are just amazing in the transformation. I often wonder if these yarns are possibly coated in some way, to make it easier to work with them, or so they are not damaged while being knitted or crocheted, and then they blossom once laundered. It certainly does seem that way to me. Thank you.

@@not2old2bcrafty I'm happy to know I'm not the only one. It could be that many people make garments as gifts, but don't wash them before wrapping and passing them along. That is the only explanation I can think of because I have been extremely surprised more than once by the difference in the feel of a particular yarn after it had been laundered, but I rarely or never read anyone else expressing that opinion. No idea they had yarn at all I knit the most basic infinity scarfs and give them to groups that will offer them to those in need I usually get yarn from goodwill or have lucked out getting some from my no buy group. I do it to keep my hands moving as I have several chronic conditions that make that important I also do it in solidarity I don't want people to feel cold even if they are unhoused or are budgeting their heating costs and this is a great tip.

It is my understanding that all of the "Just" type yarns are Premier yarns. I have gotten cotton, chunky, and worsted, so far. They come out with different types or colors about every 2 months or so.

Do you know if dollar trees just yarn linen and premier yarn crepe the same color? I’m having issues of finding the linen color at dollar tree store or online and when I ordered the linen color from just premier it wasn’t the same shade.

I believe that Premier's "Just Yarn" line is only sold at Dollar Trees so I'm thinking that even if Premier offers two yarn lines with the same color name they will likely not be the same since the yarn itself is not the same... if that makes sense. Hope this helps!

Concerning drape of an inexpensive yarn that you otherwise do not really like: the "hand and drape" as it is known in the industry, can be changed even drastically altered by slightly hotter water (than recommended on the label and liquid fabric softener. I routinely make my cheap (af), rough, scratchy yarn feel like finer, more premium, expensive yarns this way.

Dollar tree yearn is awsomeeee its cheap and good quality and they have a bunch of different types of yarn. They recently started also selling fuzzy yarns that don't fall apart and are really good quality 100/10 recommend

Sadly AC Moore closed majority if not all their locations. Used to work there myself miss shopping there even more. I used to look forward to checking out new yarn and upcoming yarn for projects!

You and I use the same movements with our hands for crocheting. I haven’t noticed any others crochet this way. My dollar tree doesn’t carry yarn.

I know I crochet this way when paying attention until I get into the groove and need to go faster, which is when the other way comes into play? 😅 It makes you notice how you treat your wrists too. Keeps the stiffening tension at bay for me ☺

Any brand of yarn could feel the way that you are you are describing that white crafters brand... And it can all be changed by soaking the entire skein in some Woolite brand (or store type), & lukewarm water (in the 90°s range. Just squeeze the air out of it and yeah spit and let it draw back in the soapy lukewarm water Into the air spaces do not attempt to agitate or scrub. You don't want to discombobulate the yarn, the way it's wrapped. Rinse it warm water, the same way, by gently squeezing the soapy water out In replacing the water with gradually colder until there are no more bubbles coming out when you squeeze. Then squeeze all of the excess water out, and gently refluff the skein of yarn a little from both ends. Place it in a collander to allow it to drain thoroughly or hang in a mesh bag or let dry on a folded towel, changing its position now and then and placing it on drier parts of towel when needed replacing towel as necessary when sodden (too wet). Note: If the center of that crafter's yarn ball/skein is anything like Bernat's can be, you might want to pull that hardcore wad out out and loosen the knot a bit, careful not to tangle it more ‐ if it is [ probably ]. . . And This is when a mesh bag is a very handy thing to have because once you de-label and de-core your skein, this would be the best way to not displace or tangle the yarn. BTW if you ever buy a silk or silk content, or a ramie cotton content yarn that stinks, you can de-skunk it with tips you can find online... it usually involves a white vinegar soak. And speaking of which, I seem to remember in some Hints from Heloise [ showing my age ] or modern hacks videos, vinegar cuts grease, so You could just try a simple vinegar soak to cut through manufacturer's residue (airborne machinery grease - ever hear of brownlung?) that may be on your particular ball/skein of yarn.

I would like to thank you for all of this information. I have done this myself, especially for skeins that I have picked up at the flea market or at a garage sale. If I've had several, I would put them in a mesh bag pretty tightly and on a low speed in the washer, would drain the excess water out that way too. If they're packed fairly tightly they won't move around and untangle. I've also soak them in just a little bit of Avon bubble bath of all things lol. My favorite one is the lavender and the original pink. But just to reiterate, just a tiny bit to avoid too many bubbles. It really softens the yarn and smells good too.

I made a little dog with the Tweed yarn. It definitely has nice stitch definition and has very pretty colors but I didn't find it soft. I thought it felt a little scratchy, similar to Red Heart Super Saver. This could be because I used a much smaller hook than called for. They also had Just Chenille yarn from Premier which I am working with now. I love it but you do have to burn this ends so the fluff doesn't come off the ends. Looking forward to trying the cotton and solid color acrylic yarn. Thanks for the review!

Maybe it depends on where you live. Or how you knit. I work with looms. Its those rounds things, but I got 2 pairs of yarn from Dollar Tree and as Im knotting the yarn would get all tangled and knotted. Its not even a one of out 5 experience for me. But since your knitting a different way maybe thats better.

Wow, my Dollar Tree store doesn’t sell those types of yarn’s. They only had two very small skein’s, in only two color’s.

Red heart super saver yarn can be made SOFTER with a nice little bath in hotter- than-warm water (say 130 to 140°) and some liquid fabric softener. Be generous with it. Allergy/Sensitive formulas are made and available [ somewhere ] for those who need it.

Hi Karen! The point of the video was to show all the yarn I purchased from the Dollar Tree and give my first impressions of the yarn - the best way to do that is to make swatches with the yarn, as that is how I evaluate it so I know the properties the fabric creates. I thought it would be fun to share that with my audience.

the dollar tree doesn't always have such good selection up here in canada and the selection is different per store where i live. I thought your video was a little to long you could have made two video's out of this content if you had just 5 minutes more and made two 20 minute video's

That 'parchment' colour of the Just Yarn Worsted would be perfect for one of those summer crochet backpacks.
