In this week’s shark observations, I filmed an incredible great white shark breach. It jumps completely out of the water. I also captured some of the most incredible dolphin and white shark interactions I’ve seen to date including a pod of 12 dolphins surrounded by seven great white sharks.

HUGE difference between swimming with juvenile white sharks and there much bigger counterparts.. if you end up swimming around a 5 meter or bigger white shark the only thing that will keep you from getting eaten is if the shark isn't hungry

eo@@darrenkrehoff5200 I always find it funyn when people use these kinds of numbers to make fear of sharks sound stupid. First of all, what are you comparing those number to? Overall population? Or just a subset of people who actually go into the water regurally, in the areas known for presence of large sharks (GW's, Bulls, tigers)? Secondly, how do we know an actual number of shark attacks? These numbers are just reported once. What do we do with cases of people missing at the sea, with bodies never to be found (A lot of thoes cases)? Furthermore, what about third world conutries like parts of Africa, Central and south america, Indonesia? Do you really belive that every shark attack in those countries is reported? Now, I might be wrong but i bet that there is at least 10 unrepotred shark attacks for each reported one. I'm just trying to be realistic here. Sharks do attack people. Sometimes it's territorial, sometimes it's mistaken identity, sometimesh they're just hungry.

A while back, Ralph Collier's Shark Research site would report ALL shark encounters of all kinds by month and by year. Attacks, Sightings, washed ashore carcasses, whatever. For a while it seemed every other week, somebody would snap a photo of a subadult white shark breaching somewhere in the surf line in SoCal. Some of the pics were incredibly clear, and sometimes we had multiple frames of the same breach.

I sea kayak a lot around Newcastle on Australia's east coast and we see white sharks often. The most impressive was noticing 4 bottlenose dolphins flying along the very edge of a rocky bombora about 15m away from us on the left side, then noticing the large white shark coming straight towards us on the right side, we think coming in hard at the dolphins. It stopped about 5m away from us, then turned and swam under the front of the kayak. Was incredible to see how fast they turn. Most of the ones we see are just cruising around, the surf lifesavers see them all the time near people with their drones.

It is always such a majestic scene to watch from above! Both dolphins and sharks are so graceful to watch. I, personally, have had a tiger shark encounter, and he/she was only inquisitive enough to see what I was doing in that territory; then it swam halfway between the bottom of the ocean to the surface and watched me from there. I turned around because I was sooo scared, but it just watched me until it got bored and swam away. I later learned that other people swimming that route called it Tony the tiger shark.

When I was in my 20's in Florida one of the more terrifying moments occurred in my life. Me and a buddy of mine rented boards and in Florida you have to go WAY out because a lot of Florida's coast line is to shallow to support any waves. And we wasn't surfing as much as just screwing around paddling and enjoying the water. So the sun was setting and we're just sitting on our boards and talking when both my buddy and myself caught a imagine of a fin in there water close and to our left but the glimmering sun in our eyes blocked a good view. So we looked at each other , eye's the size of saucers and slapped our belly's on the boards and nope'd out of there. To our horror the fin closed on us fast and thoughts of death and this is the end flooded my mind. When suddenly the sweet relief of a blow hole blast rang into our ears. I've never been so relieved in my life.
