Whoa, I hadn't heard about Titan Vial in years! Still the #1 highlight of my time playing Modern was that a deck that started off as a meme because of my frustrations about the current state of the format went on to become a tier 1 deck that went on to dominate the field.
Yeah, the match against Madness was the best! You will find quite a healthy amount of Elves content, since I own the deck in paper and at one point I was really interested in mastering it. I will get back to that, though currently I have been really enjoying these TerraOath decks.
Hi I just found out about your content yesterday and I already watched a whole bunch of your videos ! Quality stuff man thank you. Would you say this version of the deck is far better than the one with cataclysm you also made about a year ago ? The one with cataclysm seems so much funnier to play !
Hi and welcome to the channel! The one with Cataclysm has a slightly different matchup spread (better against Elves/Goblins, kind of can't ever beat Control decks). I personally have been enjoying the whole Stone Rain approach over Clysm, especially cause I've been loving having access to the Factories (in order to support WW for Clysm you gotta cut those). I think the other version is still very playable, I just prefer this playstyle.
@@fpawluszmtg thank you so much, we’re getting back into the game with a good buddy and have decided to go premodern and build 3 decks each I definely think one of them will be GW TerraOath it seems like so much fun with all the synergies. I think I’ll run both versions and see what fits best, do you think the side deck from the clysm version could be actually better if it was closer to this version ?
@@clementmole I definitely think that the Cataclysm deck can still be improved (a friend of mine was working on it at some point, but I have no idea where he ended up). The best way is to try things out and see what sticks
Thank you! I honestly am a bit interested in OS, the problem is I currently don't have the budget nor the bandwidth. Also the fact that I cannot play the format on MTGO is a huge turnoff considering 95%+ of my engagement with Magic happens in that medium these days.
Love the video, as per usual! Would you say that Pyroclasm actually would've been better than Swords in all of these matches? I feel like every single game had an instance where Pyroclasm would've been a 2-for-1 at some point. And Swords rarely killed something that was out of reach of Pyroclasm. One other thing, what do you think about the GWR versions that trim Mishra's Factories in order to squeeze in the third color and then play both Swords AND Pyroclasm?
In the first 2 matchups in particular I'd rather be on Swords to Plowshares than Clasm. 2 for 1s are rare to come by, and being able to answer a potential Gilded Drake with the trigger on the stack or an opposing Terravore can be the difference between winning and losing. Clasm is obviously exponentially better against Goblins. I have actually messed around with the GWR idea back when I originally started exploring this deck, and I think that it's very reasonable. The problem is that regardless of what you're cutting you are only getting minor upgrades while incurring into a massive deckbuilding cost (not playing Factory is A HUGE DEAL). Whether you want to be base GW and splash R or GR and splash W, whatever you're cutting to make room for the other cards is actually a really, really good card, that's kind of the point of the deck: the overall power level is probably the highest in the entire format.
@@fpawluszmtg hey ok interesting. I’ll have to revisit the idea of cutting factories. In your matches here it was clear how impactful they were. Thanks!
@@thefloodedstrand There's a ton to tinker with, so I recommend you try things out and then draw your own conclusions. Also play preference matters a lot while building a deck like this.
